Fannin County Sheriff Addresses Tragedies

From the desk of the Sheriff 02/03/2026 Fannin

County

has

gone

through immense tragedy in the last ten days. There has been unbelievable loss and heartbreak in our county and our towns. During what could be a tumultuous time, I am asking for peace, prayers and support for families, friends, community members and our local first responders. Despite the severe winter weather that we all faced across Texas, Fannin County was hit especially hard with many added tragedies beyond the severe conditions. Our prayers are with

everyone affected by the loss of loved ones these past several days. We are grateful for this community, this county and the people we get to work alongside every day that are always striving to make this a better place for all of us to live, work and raise our families. I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication of the staff at the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office. Patrol Deputies have stepped up to work extra hours without being asked, dispatchers have stayed over and as-

sisted many times beyond their normal shifts and Investigators have worked many hours deep into the night. Members of the community have stepped up and helped right alongside first responders in many amazing ways. We are here to serve and support in any way that we can, your Sheriff’s Office will be here for you no matter the circumstances or conditions. We are grateful for all of you and blessed to be a part of Fannin County, Texas. - Sheriff Cody Shook
