introducing NTMWD Board President Jack May. Mr. May voiced his appreciation for Mr. Cunningham as well as for Judge Moore, Judge Carter, the Commissioners Court and Fannin County at large before beginning his comments which included a brief history of the NTMWD that was founded in 1951. After recognizing the current and former board members and their spouses, he summarized when and how the Bois d’Arc Lake project came about and recognized many whose contributions made the creation of the reservoir possible. He concluded his statements by recognizing past and current Congressional Delegation members, Congressman Sam Johnson; Ralph Hall; John Ratcliff; Pete Sessions; Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson; Colin Allred; Van Taylor; Lance Gooden and Pat Fallon. Among those receiving accolades were those who assisted with the state water plan, Representative Justin Holland, Keith Bell, Matt Shaheen, Rhetta Bowers, Reggie Smith and Senators Angela Paxton and Bob Hall. The statewide water policy leaders who were also recognized were Senator Charles Perry and Representative Tracy King. Following Mr. May was NTMWD’s Executive Director/ General Manager Jenna Covington who first spoke on the commemoration of the Lake Lavon Dam that occurred in 1953 before expounding on NTMWD’s guiding principles and goals. She stressed how the dedication of Bois d’Arc Lake would strengthen the security of the region’s water needs for years ahead. She touched on the role everyone has in water conservation and NTMWD’s appreciation for their employees, the Texas Water Development Board, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Texas Parks and Wildlife, before introducing Inland Fisheries Director Craig Bond with Texas Parks and Wildlife. Craig Bond expounded on the importance of the partnership between Texas Parks and Wildlife and NTMWD. Continued See Bois d’Arc on page 15
