Fannin County Commissioners – Favorable and Difficult, Decisions By Rose Schwartz Tuesday, October 4, 2022, Fannin County Judge Randy Moore called to order at 8:50 a.m., a Special Meeting of the Fannin County Commis-

sioners Court. Quorum was established as Commissioners Lane and Magness, along with County Judge Randy Moore were present. Commissioners Self and Lackey were absent. 2. PUBLIC HEARING to

hear comments regarding the proposal to open Brown Cemetery Road in Bonham, .4 miles in Precinct 4: After reading the reason for the hearing, Judge Moore invited speakers on this matter to the

podium. A representative of the Brown Cemetery Association, spoke to give reasons justifying the re-opening of Brown Cemetery Road. She noted that the road had been closed since 6/12/2002 and

stated the main reason for the request to re-open the road was the road’s poor condition. A citizen of Telephone Texas called in to voice her support for the roads re-opening. Next to speak was Larry Standlee

with the Fannin County Historical Commission, who noted the cemetery was established 167 years ago with the last three burials taking place there in 2020, 2021 and 2022. He advised that without proper road maintenance, the road would soon become impassable. 3. Adjourn: A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn at 8:57 a.m. On the same day at 9:00 a.m., Judge Moore opened the Regular Meeting of the Fannin County Commissioners Court. He noted that Quorum had previously been established and invited Fannin County Treasurer David Woodson to lead the Invocation. After the invocation, Judge Moore led the Pledges. There were no Introductions. Before inviting speakers for Public Forum, Judge Moore explained that the court could not engage in conversation with speakers. He explained visitors could speak and ask questions on any agenda item at the time that agenda item was addressed. There were no speakers for Public Forum. 6. Discussion, consideration and action regarding extending the burn ban for Fannin County – County Judge: Fannin County Emergency Coordinator Troy Hudson spoke to advise the court that due to the recent lack of rainfall; Fannin County is back to the same fire risk conditions it had been in several weeks ago with no relief in sight. After some discussion on whether citations had been issued during recent fires that have occurred during the present burn ban, Commissioner Magness made the motion to extend the burn ban for one week with the ban to be reviewed week by week. Commissioner Lane seconded the motion which passed. 7. Discussion, consideration and action to approve payment of bills – County Judge for County Auditor: A motion was made, seconded and passed to approve payment of bills. Continued
