It’s Latinx Heritage Month! *There have been a few different names for this heritage observance. Links on this page may also refer to other names, like Hispanic Heritage Month or Latino Heritage Month.
Latinx Heritage Month does not cover one single month but instead goes from September 15-October 15. That’s because many Central and South American countries celebrate their independence days within these dates. By aligning with these dates, Latinx Heritage Month honors the resilience and determination of the Latinx community. The following countries celebrate Independence Days during this time: September 15 - Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua September 16 – Mexico September 18 – Chile September 21 - Belize It is important to celebrate Latinx Heritage Month! People from Mexico and countries in Central and South America have helped to shape U.S. culture and democracy through advocacy work, dance, art, food, music, and literature.
