Kids/Families Pokémon Scavenger Hunt February 1-28 Become a Pokémon master at the Des Moines Public Library! We’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of Pokémon with a systemwide scavenger hunt! Grab a library Pokédex while visiting the library and head to all six library locations, finding all the Pokémon in the Pokédex along the way. Turn in your completed Pokédex before March 2, and you’ll be entered into a drawing for a Pokémon prize pack. Good luck on catching em’ all throughout the month of February!

Winnie the Pooh Sneak Preview
Monday, February 2 and March 2, 10-11 AM Bring your young ones to our Little Explorers program, designed for children ages 0-5, to discover, learn and play with different sensory activities. No Registration is Required. Please wear play clothes as some activities may be messy.
Saturday, February 14, 10:30 AM Visit the library for a special sneak preview of the Des Moines Young Artists’ Theatre production of Winnie the Pooh. Learn about the show and get a chance to meet the cast!
Art in the Library – Northern Lights Art
Creative Readers
Wednesday, February 4, 4 PM Visit the library to create beautiful artwork of the Northern Lights using oil pastels and paint. Art in the Library is for children ages 6-12. Younger siblings may attend if accompanied by an adult. Registration required.
Tuesday, February 17 and March 17, 4 PM Join us in celebrating the joy of reading and art as we explore materials and STEM activities inspired by a picture book. Ages 3 and up.
Park-N-Play Thursdays, 10 AM-12 PM Join us for indoor Park-N-Play, hosted by the City of Des Moines Parks and Recreation department on Thursday mornings in the Franklin Avenue Library meeting room. Drop in and enjoy toys, games, crafts, and activities for families at no cost. All ages welcome!
Epic Graphic Novel Book Club Thursday, February 19 and March 19, 4 PM We will have a brief discussion about this month’s book followed by fun activities and crafts related to the book! You do not need to read the book beforehand to attend this program. For ages 7-11. Registration required.
