Welcome to Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School’s premier fundraising gala, Escapade: Ever After. For nearly 30 years, Escapade has played a vital role in advancing TJ’s Mission, creating memorable moments, strengthening community, and investing in the promise of our students. Whether this is your first Escapade or your twenty-first, we are delighted to have you step into this storybook evening as we celebrate the transformative power of education and the bright futures being written at TJ each day.
An event like Escapade is made possible by many generous hearts and hands. We extend our deepest gratitude to the volunteers, sponsors, auction donors, vendors, TJ faculty and staff, and families who have helped bring this magical evening to life. Whether you place a bid in the silent auction, raise your paddle during the live auction, purchase a bottle of wine, or simply gather with friends in celebration, your presence and participation help shape the next chapter of opportunity for our students.
We are thrilled to present this year’s Escapade catalog. Inside, you’ll discover exclusive auction packages, surprise offerings, travel experiences, and beloved “Teacher Experiences” that promise memories worthy of a fairytale. We hope tonight surrounds you with joyful fellowship as we unite in support of a mission that truly matters. Every dollar raised this evening directly supports our school and students, ensuring that the story of excellence at TJ continues for generations to come. And that is something worth celebrating. Now, let the celebration begin, and may this be an Ever After to remember.
Sincerely,
Garry Hallman, Head of School

3. Physical items and certain printed gift certificates may be removed the evening of the auction. Information on experiences and other nonphysical items (services, trips etc.) will be sent via email the following week. Live auction items will be invoiced following the event, and silent auction items will be paid for through the online BetterWorld system (unless explicitly stated). No checks or cash will be accepted at the event. Silent Auction winners will receive an email notifying them of the item(s) won to the email they used to bid online.
4. Item values are donor’s estimates and are not warranted by the Escapade Auction Committee or Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School for tax purposes or general use.
5. Unless specified, auction items, services, and trips must be used within one year after March 7, 2026. Where necessary and as specified, arrangements for use and/or travel is the responsibility of the purchaser.
6. Sales tax will not be collected according to the State of Missouri Department of Revenue. This event is considered an “isolated sale” by a tax-exempt organization.
7. Once invoiced, checks may be made out to “TJIDS-Escapade.” Successful bidders will be held liable for the value of their successful bids.
CONDITIONS: Specifications and restrictions in the catalog are those made by the donor and are non-negotiable; Escapade and Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School hold no responsibility for any representation.

THOMAS JEFFERSON INDEPENDENT DAY SCHOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES. 1. The silent auction is hosted through the online platform BetterWorld and will be open to the public in advance of Escapade. You will have the opportunity to see the items displayed and bid online before the auction closes at 7:00pm CST on March 7, 2026.
2. Access the digital silent auction by scanning a QR code provided at the event with your mobile device or by visiting escapade.betterworld.org. When making a bid, you will be prompted to provide your name, email address, and the credit card you wish to have charged should you be deemed the winner of an item or multiple items.
3. If you need assistance with accessing the online silent auction or do not have adequate cellular data, an event volunteer can assist you with the bidding process. Through the BetterWorld system, guests will also have the option to set a “max bid” on an item, and the system will bid on their behalf using the item’s designated bidding increments until the max bid is surpassed.
4. Soon after the silent auction has closed, winning bidders will receive an email to their designated email address outlining all the items they have won. Winners will have their credit cards charged by the end of the night on Saturday, March 7, but no later than Monday, March 9.
5. Silent auction winners who attend Escapade will be able to take their physical items and certain printed gift certificates before leaving. Information on experiences and other non-physical items (services, trips etc.) will be sent via email the following week.
6. All guests that provide their credit card to bid through the BetterWorld system commit to having their credit card charged should they win. If a winning silent auction bidder prefers to pay by cash or check instead of with the credit card they provided the BetterWorld system, it must be clearly communicated and mutually agreed upon by key event staff before the end of Escapade. If other payment arrangements are made, winner will be invoiced after the event.
1. The auction will begin with the announcement of the auctioneer at approximately 7:45 p.m., March 7, 2026, and continue without interruption until all items have been auctioned.
2. USE ONLY THE BID NUMBER THAT HAS BEEN ASSIGNED TO YOU.
3. In order to enter a bid, a bidder must raise their bid card high and attract the attention of the auctioneer and/or their designated spotters. This bid card must be presented each time you initiate or increase the bid. Each bid legally obligates the bidder to pay the bid price, in full, if his or her bid is deemed the high bid by the auctioneer. Since the auction will be fast paced, the bids must be made quickly. In the event of a dispute, the auctioneer shall have sole and final discretion.
4. On the announcement of the auctioneer, title to the item and/or service will pass to the highest bidder, who thereupon assumes full risk and responsibility.
5. Winning bidders will be invoiced after the event. No exchange of cash or check will be made at the event. (The same conditions apply for Progressive Bid bids).
For your convenience, items not removed the night of the auction may be picked up at Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School by Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.
Once invoiced, Escapade will accept as payment, cash, personal or business checks, and credit cards.
