ONCE UPON A TIME, LONG AGO, THE BEAVER CHILDREN BIBI AND BIBIRELLA LIVED BY THE INN RIVER IN RIED. TOGETHER WITH THEIR FRIENDS, THEY HAD LOTS OF FUN, AND ON MANY WONDERFUL OUTINGS THEY EXPLORED THE SURROUNDING AREA.
One day, Bibi wanted to pick up Bibirella from home for another hike. Bibirella had promised to bake the delicious cookies from Grandma’s secret recipe and bring them along as a snack. Bibi’s mouth was already watering.
But when he arrived at Bibirella’s house, he was startled. The flowers in the flower bed had been trampled, the front door was wide open, and in the kitchen the baking tray lay on the floor. There was no sign of Bibirella or the cookies.
First, Bibi searched the entire house, then the garden, and then he asked the neighbours, but no one had heard or seen anything. Next, he came to a path above the bridge. He had never been there before. The path led into
the forest, and then deep in the woods, Bibi came across mysterious tree portal. He hesitated for moment, but then bravely went through - it was important not to waste any time in the search for Bibirella. Here it felt like a diffrent world; he had entered the mysterious fairy tale forest. The sun shone through the trees, and along the path Bibi saw various flowers and shrubs.
At the Moss Pond he met the Dragonfly Princess - could she perhaps know something about Bibirella‘s disapperance? Yes, indeed! The Dragonfly Princess
told him that while she was by the river, she had seen the wizard Crustulum from Sigmundsried Castle put something wriggling into large sack and carry it away.
Unfortunately, she didn‘t know anything more, but she gave Bibi a tip: he should look for the Moss Men. These friendly forest creatures lived all over the fairy tale forest, though their green mossy clothes made them a bit tricky to find.
But Bibi was lucky: when a sunbeam fell onto the forest floor, he saw a Moss man happily swinging on a blade of grass. Bibi asked him about Bibirella. This Moss Man didn‘t know anything, but he sent Bibi to a friend, who sent him to his brother, and so it went on - until Bibi finally arrived
at the leader of the Moss Men, named Nemus. Nemus had indeed seen the wizard and even more: he noticed that cookies kept falling out of the sack the wizard was carrying. Now Bibi was sure that the wizard had kidnapped Bibirella, and he decided to follow the cookies. Nemus also advised Bibi to look out for a secret little box it might prove useful.
A little tawny owl that the Moss Men had called brought Bibi to the first cookie. From there, Bibi searched for the next cookies on foot. The path went deeper and deeper into the fairy tale forest. Bibi had to climb and balance, but again and again he found a cookie that showed him the
right way. And the he arrived at the Forest Throne. What had the Moss Man said again?
There was supposed to be a mysterious little box here. Bibi looked at the throne very carfully and then he discovered a small wooden box hidden beneath the seat. He opened it and looked inside. It was empty! Could this have been a silly joke by the Moss Man?
But they were known as friendly and helpful forest creatures. Bibi took another close look and then noticed two diffrent symbols carved into the wall of the little box. What was he supposed to do with these symbols now?
Then he spooted another cookie - it was lying right under a large tree. On the side of the tree, he saw the outline of a door, but there was no lock and no door handle. But he discovered strange
symbols on several buttons. Two of them looked like the symbols he had seen in the little box under the Forest Throne. First he pressed the two buttons one after the other nothing happend.
Then he tried pressing the buttons at the same time.
Then there was a rumbling and squeaking sound and the door opened. Out rushed Bibirella and threw her arms around Bibi‘s neck. Behind her the door closed
again. „Thank you, Bibi, thank you!“ she said. Hastily she explained that the wizard had kidnapped her because he thought the cookies were magic cookies and that wouldn‘t be right, since he believed he was the only wizard in the fairy tale forest. No matter how much she insisted that her grandmother‘s secret recipe had nothing to do with magic, Crustulum refused to believe her and locked her inside the magic tree, from which Bibi had now freed her.
At that very moment the wizard returned. Angrily he stretched out his arm with the magic wand toward Bibirella. But before he could say anything, Bibi stapped in front of the wizard. „Bibirella‘s
cookies aren‘t magic cookies!
They simply taste magically good you have to believe us! You are and always remain the only wizard in the forest.
Crustulum hesitated for a moment, then lowered his magic wand. „This one time will trust you but woe to you if you have
lied to me! Then my revenge will be terrible!“ By now Bibirella had stepped beside Bibi and since she could never stay angry with anyone for too long, she offered the wizard a cookie. „Just try one you‘ll like it!“
And so it didn‘t take long before Bibi and Bibirella were sitting together with the wizard under the big tree, eating cookies. Then it was time to go home, and before Bibi and Bibirella set off, they promised the wizard that from now on they would visit him more often and of course bring him some „magical“ cookies.
