PRESENTACIÓN
La presente publicación nace con el objetivo de compartir los resultados de recientes investigaciones sobre el papel actual de la expresión gráfica en la representación del entorno y el espacio construido, reuniendo una extensa selección de trabajos de expertos, investigadores, empresas y profesionales del campo de la edificación y la expresión gráfica, así como contribuciones de profesores de Universidades y Escuelas de España, Italia, Polonia, Colombia, Méjico y Perú, ofreciendo un amplio espectro internacional de reflexiones que contribuyen a hilvanar un estado del arte de las últimas tendencias en estos campos. Cada uno de los capítulos de este libro es original y ha sido aceptado tras ser evaluado por los miembros de un Comité Científico mediante revisión anónima por pares. A fin de articular los resultados de las investigaciones el libro se estructura en tres partes, correspondientes a tres áreas temáticas diferenciadas: • En la primera parte, bajo el concepto de Dibujar se dan cita aquellas investigaciones que contribuyen a reflexionar sobre el papel actual del dibujo en diversas áreas temáticas relacionadas con la representación del entorno y el espacio arquitectónico, tales como la topografía, la cartografía, los sistemas de información geográfica (SIG), el dibujo arquitectónico, el diseño de espacios habitables y aquellas contribuciones que resultan de especial interés para el campo de la enseñanza de la expresión gráfica. • El apartado Construir aporta un amplio espectro de investigaciones que ilustran los últimos avances en temas como el levantamiento del patrimonio arquitectónico, el análisis gráfico de la edificación, el papel del dibujo en la Historia de la Construcción y el modelado de información para la construcción (BIM). •
Por último, en la tercera parte del libro se recopilan contribuciones que reflexionan sobre las últimas tendencias en temas relacionados con la representación. Bajo el concepto de Soñar se presentan recientes estudios en torno a las posibilidades que ofrecen las restituciones virtuales, la Realidad Aumentada, las aplicaciones TIC y el papel cada vez más relevante de la impresión 3D para la realización de modelos y maquetas.

Este libro pretende ofrecer un marco interdisciplinar desde el que reflexionar sobre diversos temas de actualidad, reuniendo resultados relevantes de las experiencias e investigaciones de expertos, profesores y profesionales de Europa y América Latina, con el fin de ofrecer una visión de conjunto que contribuya al avance del conocimiento y la generación de nuevas propuestas en el ámbito de la expresión gráfica en la edificación.

PRESENTATION
This publication was created with the objective of sharing the results of recent research about the role currently being played by graphic expression in the representation of space and the built environment. It will therefore bring together an extensive selection of contributions by experts, researchers, companies and professionals working in the fields of building and graphic expression, as well as contributions from teachers at Universities and Colleges in Spain, Italy, Poland, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, so as to offer a broad international spectrum of considerations that help illustrate the state of the art of the latest trends in these fields. Each of the chapters in this book is original and has been accepted after being evaluated by members of a Scientific Committee by the double-blind peer review system. In order to better organize the research results, this book is divided into three parts, corresponding to three distinct thematic areas: •
In the first part, the concept of ‘Drawing’ brings together research studies that consider the current role of drawing in various thematic areas related to the representation of the environment and architectural space, such as topography, cartography, geographic information systems (GIS), architectural drawing, the design of living spaces. It also includes contributions that are of special interest to the field of teaching graphic expression.

The ‘Building’ section provides a broad overview of research that illustrates the latest advances in issues such as architectural heritage surveying, the graphic analysis of buildings, the role of drawing in Construction History, and Building Information Modeling (BIM).

The third part of the book contains contributions reflecting on the latest trends in issues related to representation. Under the concept of ‘Dreaming’, we present recent studies that deal with the potential of virtual restitution, Augmented Reality, ICT applications, and the increasingly important role of 3D printing for making scale models and mock-ups.
This book aims to provide an interdisciplinary framework from which to think about various issues that are currently of great interest. It will thus gather relevant results from experiments and research conducted by experts, professors and professionals from Europe
