INGREDIENTS: Crust 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs 1/3 cup melted butter 1/4 cup sugar Filling 2 cups cream cheese 1 cup sugar 1 tsp vanilla 3 eggs Topping 1 1/2 cups cherries (pitted) 1/4 cup sugar 1 tbsp lemon juice
1 hour
DIRECTIONS: Crust Mix crumbs, butter, and sugar. Press into a pan and bake at 325°F (160°C) for 8-10 min. Filling Beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla. Add eggs one at a time. Pour over crust. Bake Bake 45-50 min, cool.
Topping Simmer cherries, sugar, lemon juice. Cool, then pour over cheesecake.

Whether I am making a conceptual sculpture or a simple drinking glass, my goal is to explore the range of color and beauty that glass offers as a medium. Though I trained for a career in digital arts, I have always been attracted to media that I could actually shape with my hands. A Santa Cruz Shakespeare’s Holiday Tradition Announces Return of A Christmas Carol for 2025 Holiday Season
Tickets now on sale for highly anticipated production at Veterans Memorial Hall Santa Cruz Shakespeare has officially announced the return of its beloved adaptation of A Christmas Carol for the 2025 holiday season. Following a sold-out run in 2024, the Charles Dickens classic will once again captivate audiences with its themes of redemption and generosity. The production opens Sunday, Nov. 30, and will run through Christmas Eve at Veterans Memorial Hall, located at 846 Front St. in downtown Santa Cruz.“It’s incredibly exciting to bring A Christmas Carol back after such a successful debut last year,” said Charles Pasternak, artistic director of Santa Cruz Shakespeare. “This isn’t just a performance; it’s a full experience. Music plays a central role in this adaptation, with traditional English carols arranged by music director Luke Shepherd. The 90-minute production, which has no intermission, invites the audience to become part of the action. Cast members will move through the aisles and stairs of the intimate Veterans Memorial Hall, further immersing theatergoers in the story’s powerful messages of compassion, hope, and personal transformation. “A Christmas Carol is ultimately a story about generosity,” Pasternak said. “In a world that can often feel divided, this story reminds us of what is best in all of us. It’s a story we need right now—one that encourages us to open our hearts and give to others. This is a show that speaks to people of all ages, and we are thrilled to bring it back to Santa Cruz for another season.” At the heart of A Christmas Carol is Scrooge’s redemption arc, a powerful journey of self-reflection, forgiveness, and change. After being visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, Scrooge learns the true value of love, kindness, and human connection. Santa Cruz Shakespeare, a professional repertory theater company with over 40 years of local history, is known for its bold productions of Shakespeare and other classic plays. Pasternak, who took over as artistic director in 2023, brings a wealth of experience to the company. Before joining SCS, he served as the artistic director for The Porters of Hellsgate Theatre Co. in Los Angeles for over 15 years and has directed and performed at prominent theaters across the country, including the American Players Theatre, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. In addition to its artistic achievements, A Christmas Carol continues SCS’s mission to make theater accessible and inclusive for all members of the Santa Cruz community. Beginning Nov. 26, there will be 29 performances, including three preview shows at a reduced ticket price. The 48th Annual Heritage Holiday Craft and Gift Fair is returning to the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds on Friday, December 5th, and Saturday, December 6th. Now, for nearly two decades, they have carried on that cherished tradition with Santa Cruz City Ballet, guiding new generations of dancers to share in the wonder of this holiday classic.
From the tiniest gingersnaps, lambs, and cherubs, to accomplished pre-professional dancers and guest artists from across the Bay Area, this Nutcracker shines with imagination and artistry. Each year introduces something new — fresh choreography, reimagined staging, and newly designed costumes — keeping this timeless classic vibrant and full of discovery.

Cocktails & Dining – Aptos The Hideout Restaurant opened its doors in 2015 and has since become a community favorite! Owners Pete and Lisa Vomvolakis and Austin and Rachel Welch, with the help of family and friends, transformed an original 1930’s Aptos home into a beautiful new restaurant and bar. Just four years after opening, The Hideout was destroyed by a fire in 2019. With overwhelming community love and support, The Hideout was rebuilt into the beautiful restaurant it is today.
