T

he VFW Post 1796 in Black Canyon City is hosting an auto show again this year — and this time, it’s adding a collection of motorcycles to the display. For the organization’s second auto show, there will be an array of classic cars, trucks models and motorcycles. Community mem-

bers can see the collection while showing support for their local veterans at the Saturday, Sept. 24, event in Black Canyon City. “We had a lot of fun last year, and we believe it’s going to be even better this year,” said Garrie Prince, a third-year trustee for the organization. “We’re pretty well assuming it’s going to be an annual thing now.” The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)

Post 1796 provides services for current and former military personnel. Its building is home to several other organizations, including the American Legion Post 90 and Sons of the American Legion. VFW Post 1796 also has a restaurant and bar. Wanting to hold more activities and events, the organization brainstormed the

t a Daisy River community town hall meeting, R.J. Cardin, director of the Maricopa County’s Parks and Recreation Department, discussed work on the 2030 regional park system plan, “Continuing the Legacy,” along with its five key findings and recommendations. “We think we’ve done a pretty good job of addressing most of these pressing issues that we saw in 2019 or 2020 when we started this process and what we will be looking to do now is actually write all this out,” Cardin said. “Hopefully, in October we’ll be putting that out for public review so you can give us your feedback and comment on the doc-
