It is 4 p.m. and there are 10 people arriving at your house for a 6 p.m. party. All is set from the food to the music to the cocktails and wine and you realize you forgot the beer. Not to worry, because a new on-demand alcohol delivery service, Minibar, entered the Valley, including Chandler, on Jan. 11.
The company, which was cofounded by Lindsey Andrews and Lara Crystal in New York City, provides an Uber-like experience for customers by linking patrons with vendors via the company’s website or app.
“We provide a convenient way for the customer who may be too busy to run an errand to purchase alcohol,” Crystal said.
Delivery for a customer’s first month of service is waived, with each subsequent delivery $5 and a delivery minimum of $25. Launched in February 2014, the company has grown rapidly across the country.
“We’re thrilled to be expanding to Phoenix, our 20th Minibar market, and are excited to provide its residents with an easier way to shop for wine, spirits, beer and more,” said Andrews. Minibar works like this: Enter the

delivery address and then, with a few mouse clicks or taps of a finger, choose wine, beer and spirits.
Chandler and Gilbert residents are in close proximity to Minibar’s store partners Chandler Liquors and Liquor Wheel 2, 554 N. Arizona Ave., and Liquor Wheel 2 at 3445 E. McDowell Rd. in Phoenix. In addition to Chandler and Gilbert, downtown and North Phoenix customers can access Minibar.
“We have plans to expand across the Phoenix metro,” said Crystal. “We are really excited about Phoenix and think we are going to be very successful.”

Expansion plans include Scottsdale and Tempe. The duo hopes to eventually move into the West Valley and beyond.
“We look forward to continuing to grow our footprint throughout sunny Arizona,” said Andrews.
In addition to one-time orders, Minibar offers an auto-refill option for delivery at intervals from one to four weeks. Its platform also includes a party planning tool, tasting notes, pairing recommendations, cocktail recipes and gift delivery.

The “Design for Hire” public awareness/fundraising program of the American Society of Interior Designers Arizona North Chapter will take place in February through April.
The program is designed to help homeowners and design aficionados who have not worked with a professional interior designer previously, but always wanted to. For $75 per hour (a maximum of two hours), the public is matched with an ASID interior designer.
Consumers who register are matched with a designer based on location, project specifications and other parameters. The ASID designers who
participate in the program donate their consultation time. The fees collected are directed back to the organization for student design scholarships and educational programs that help further the profession of interior design.
This is a way for homeowners to learn how designers provide a difference in their homes and lifestyle through their in-depth knowledge of space planning, products, materials and finishes, as well as their ability to plan, schedule, execute and manage projects from start to finish.

Buying a new Fulton Home is exciting enough, but Louis Tyler won a $1,000 Home Depot gift card, thanks to his participation in an Academy Mortgage customer service survey.
According to the armed services veteran, it was an “incredible surprise” and it will make a huge impact on his plans to open a small business.
“With this $1,000 gift card, I will be able to purchase the equipment needed to start that business,” he said.
Upon a home’s purchase, Academy Mortgage asks customers to fill out surveys to describe their experience, according to district builder manager Jason spears.
Tyler did this and, on Dec. 19, Lynn
Bax of Fulton Homes along with Spears presented the check to an overwhelmed Tyler.
Fulton Homes is dedicated to giving back to the communities, and is always grateful for the brave and courageous military personnel.
“We were ecstatic to hear that this Fulton homeowner who has served our country has won this great award,” Bax said.

With the Arizona Cardinals’ huge win against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday, Jan. 16, and their upcoming playoff game against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, Jan. 24, the Valley is abuzz about football.
The local apparel line State Forty Eight is behind this season’s essential football swag—the infamous “coach shirt.” It is making an appearance at every game, tailgate and watch party for the Arizona Cardinals.
Based in Chandler, State Forty Eight was founded by three young entrepreneurs. Michael Spangenberg, Stephen Polando and Nicholas Polando launched the company out of their home in 2013 and word spread quickly about the brand. Since then, they have turned the company into a profitable business and continue to expand with many new designs and looks including the latest Bruce Arians-inspired “Coach” shirt.
Much of the success the Cardinals have seen this season has been in large part due to the fantastic training and leadership abilities of coach Bruce Arians. Chosen as the recipient of the Associated Press’ NFL Football Coach of the Year Award for the second time in 2014, the shirt serves as an ode to Bruce and the notoriety he brings to Arizona.
“We wanted to demonstrate our appreciation for Bruce Arians and the Cardinals with this design,” said
Spangenberg. “The goal was to provide Cardinals fans with another option to support the home team that was different than the traditional sports team apparel.”
And Arians—with his colorful personality and signature look of thickframed glasses and a Stetson cap—was the obvious inspiration. Taking it a step further, State Forty Eight partnered with the Arians Family Foundation, which supports the development of programs that strive to prevent and reform the abuse and neglect of children. For every coach shirt sold, $5 of each shirt sale will be donated to the Arians Family Foundation.
“We are grateful to partner up with the Arians Family Foundation and give back,” said Spangenberg, “This collaboration is rewarding because it allows us to work with the coolest coach in the NFL and do something good for a cause that is near and dear to our hearts.”
Since last fall, the design has raised more than $7,000 for the Arians Family Foundation.
For the State Forty Eight owners and avid Arizona sports fans, this partnership has been one of the most exciting events in the history of the company. With shirt sales exceeding sales goals and the outpouring of support from the community, the collaboration has been in on more ways

than one this season.
Looking forward to the big game on Jan. 24, “We hope coach Bruce Arians is wearing his shirt during the trophy ceremony in Super Bowl 50,” said Spangenberg.

Forty Eight, visit its website at www. statefortyeight.com. Details on The Arians Family Foundation can be found at www.ariansfamilyfoundation.com.

Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill’s new corporate giving program, Cornbread for A Cause raised $37,893 for Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation and Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.
Funds were raised from sales of Z’Tejas famous cornbread in December. PCHF will receive $23,772 from Z’Tejas five Phoenix locations and $14,121 from three Austin, Texas, locations.
“We are extremely grateful and humbled by all the support and positive response from our guests with the first Z’Tejas Cornbread for A Cause fundraising program this December,” said Gary Manley, general partner at Z’Tejas. “Dell Children’s and Phoenix Children’s are two organizations that are making a positive impact in our community and we are proud to have them as beneficiaries for our first Cornbread for A Cause.”
Right on the heels of a successful debut to raise funds for charities, Z’Tejas Cornbread for A Cause continues in its mission by raising funds for Brokers for Kids/Agents Benefiting Children and Cheyanna’s Champions 4 Children (CC4C) through proceeds from cornbread sales at their Phoenix and Austin locations respectively. Z’Tejas famous cornbread is freshly made and priced at $3 per order.
Brokers for Kids/Agents Benefiting Children is a year-long fundraising effort by commercial and residential real estate professionals throughout the

to help underserved children in the community
“We are excited to start 2016 by partnering with Brokers for Kids/Agents Benefiting Children and CC4C. Two charities that are making a big difference for children in need of medical and financial assistance in our community,” added Manley.
Nick Debus has joined the Chandler Chamber of Commerce to steer the organization’s public policy efforts.
Debus graduated from ASU with a degree in communications. During his final year at ASU, Debus was an intern at the Arizona State Senate where he sat in the Appropriations and Government, Military, and Veterans Affairs Committees.

From the State Senate Debus was hired at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office in its Community Outreach Division where he traveled statewide delivering educational presentations to help inform Arizonans. He also worked for the Legislative Affairs team during legislative sessions helping to successfully advance the policy agenda of the attorney general at the State Capitol. Debus gained valuable experience having been behind the scenes for an executive level state agency, but is looking forward
to advancing the Chandler Chamber’s public policy and government relations.
“We are thrilled Nick has joined our team,” said Chamber CEO/President Terri Kimble. “He has the experience and skill set to take our government relations to the next level and really solidify the connection between business and government.”
The Chandler Chamber of Commerce is dedicated to promoting regional economic growth, advancing businessfriendly public policies and servicing its members through outstanding programs, benefits and services. The Chamber represents more than 1,300 businesses with more than 100,000 employees. The Chandler Chamber is the third largest Chamber in Arizona. Call me today and let me know how I can serve your real estate needs!

BY SRIANTHI PERERA
Jackie Nedin and Cathy Swann, two real estate agents in the Ocotillo area, are involved in a campaign to make a difference.
The two, both moms, are collecting new and gently used purses to fill with toiletries and donate to shelters for women in the East Valley. They call their effort Live2give.
“It’s something to uplift people and just do good,” said Nedin, a mother of three who has lived in South Chandler for 21 years.
During the holidays, the two friends purchased 100 $5 cards from their own funds and gave them to family members and friends to be given to needy people.
“We found that the people who were giving them were really the ones that were receiving,” she said.
Nedin and Swann hope to collect at least 100 purses, fill them with toiletries and add a handwritten card with a positive quote. The purses may be delivered to their workplace, United Brokers Group, at 106 S. Kyrene Rd., Chandler, by Feb. 24 as they plan to donate them by March 15.
If someone wishes to donate but can’t transport them, they could pick them up as well.
After the purse drive, the two will settle on another charity effort for Live2give.
“It just feels so good to give back and to have the community participate in it and to see the feedback from people,” she said. “It’s super touching.”
