Chamberlain Orthodontics gives back to the community

Dr. Tom Chamberlain and his dedicated and caring staff are committed to providing clients with the highest quality orthodontic care. Taking it one step further, they are devoted to the local, national and global community.

“We like to be a good part of the community,” Chamberlain says. “Our niche is that we like to give back. We’re very giving to the schools and provide a lot of support to the arts programs in the schools. We’re involved with Pueblo Middle School and Bogle Junior High School with their arts programs, and we’re also involved with their sports programs, especially track and field.”

Each year, the office hosts a competition for free braces at Hamilton High School. This year, the contest is being extended to Chandler High School.

“We work with the social worker from the schools,” Chamberlain notes. “They work with the English teachers who ask for an essay from anyone looking for braces for free. It is a needbased program.”

The staff reads the essays, and the best one is chosen. The winner

receives free braces.

“We’re involved with Smiles Change Lives, a national program that gives free orthodontic cases away to

deserving families,” Chamberlain says.

“We’re one of only a few orthodontists in the state that participates.”

Through that program, Chamberlain Orthodontics gives away four sets of braces annually to children who cannot afford them.

“We’re committing to giving away free treatment for every case that we start,” Chamberlain says.

Cases could be abroad in places like Africa or Costa Rica where Chamberlain Orthodontics is going this September, or it may be provided locally through services like Mission of Mercy.

Affordable payment options for braces are available and tailored to suit individual financial situations.

Chamberlain Orthodontics has two locations in Chandler at 3800 W. Ray Rd., Suite 9, and 1055 W. Queen Creek Rd., Suite 5. Call (480) 448-2474 for additional information or visit www. smilestraight.com.

My Sisters’ Charities Thrift Store benefits

My Sister’s Closet, My Sister’s Attic and Well Suited are known across the Valley for their reduced prices on gently used designer men’s and women’s apparel and furnishing.

The three sisters behind the consignment businesses have opened a charitable store that will serve their favorite charities and offer shoppers bargain basement prices. The soft opening was July 1, and the grand opening is Aug. 1.

Last year founder Ann Siner and her sisters—co-founder, Jenny Siner, along with head stylist and sister, Tess Loo—donated 32 percent of the net profits from the My Sister’s Closet stores to charity. Now, My Sisters’ Charities Thrift Store is specifically designated to serve the charitable trio’s favorite charities.

“For the grand opening on Aug. 1, we’re going to have a special offer for the first 50 people in line,” Ann Siner explains.

“They’re going to get a 50 percent off coupon that they can come back and use on a given day, and they will get 50 percent off everything they want to buy that day.”

Siner explains her organization has always donated its unsold goods to various thrift stores.

“Especially soft in our hearts are the animal organizations—the Arizona Humane Society, Friends of Animal Care and Control, HALO Animal Rescue and additionally, Fresh Start Women’s Foundation. Those are our four chosen charities,” Siner states.

“What we saw was that some thrift stores netted literally hundreds of thousands

of dollars from our donations, and some were not run very well...What triggered our thoughts was after doing retail for the past 23 years, we feel like—if we know anything— we know retail. We should be able to take the thrift store concept and make a lot of money for our chosen charities.”

Funds will also help a few other charities that assist animals, women, the environment and wildlife.

Unsold merchandise at My Sister’s Closet, My Sister’s Attic and Well Suited will go to My Sisters’ Charities Thrift Store to give shoppers a last chance at getting merchandise at bargain prices.

“My Sisters’ Charities Thrift Store will

offer the best selection and prices of any thrift store in the Valley, and the best part is shoppers won’t have to pay sales tax when making a purchase at the thrift store,” Siner notes.

The store will accept donations as well.

Fresh Start Women’s Foundation is happy to be a recipient of funds from the thrift store. Those funds will help its efforts Valleywide, including its programs and workshops that take place in Chandler at the Goodwill Career Center that assists women with economic self-sufficiency, personal development and education.

“We are grateful for the support from our long-standing partnership with My

Sister’s Closet and wish them every success in their new endeavor,” says Susan Berman, president and CEO of Fresh Start Women’s Foundation.

My Sister’s Charities Thrift Store is located at 4985 S. Alma School Rd. at Chandler Heights Road. Call (480) 775-5282 or visit www.mysisterscharities.com for additional information.

RE/MAX Infinity carries on its successful reputation in greater Phoenix as three of its associates were named to the Young Professional Network’s 2014 40 Under 40. Deena Harris, Lisa Whyte and Mike Widmer were honored among Chandler’s networked professionals who strive to enhance their communities.

“This serves as a testament to the proactive culture we’ve created at RE/ MAX Infinity, and it’s incredible to see our associates take part in leadership roles in the Chandler business community,” says Bill Ryan, RE/MAX Infinity broker/ owner. “The YPN’s 40 Under 40 recognition is based on premier service, both in the real estate world and our community; any homebuyer or seller would be lucky to work with such dedicated and passionate real estate agents.”

The annual distinction is presented by YPN, a program of the Southeast Valley Regional Association of Realtors. It assists industry professionals in excelling in their careers by providing necessary tools and encouragement to become involved in four core areas: Realtor associations, the real estate industry as a whole, peers and communities.

Chandler clinic announces new technology of giving shots

Chiropractor Dr. Radman Rahiminejad, D.C., announces the use of new technology for delivering shots in his Chandler BackFit Health + Spine Clinic. The technology uses a needleless system for delivering subcutaneous injections in patients.

“Chandler residents no longer need to worry about their fears of needles,” Rahiminejad says. “But that’s only part of the benefit this technology brings to the table.”

Many people, according to Rahiminejad, consider getting shots as an unpleasant experience. The BackFit Health + Spine Clinic believes the solution for changing the way people view shots can be found in the Biojector 2000.

The Biojector represents the latest available technology for shots today and Rahiminejad says his onsite physician is excited to offer it to local patients.

“Needle fears are no laughing matter,” says Rahiminejad. “There are many patients who skip treatments that could greatly improve their quality of life because of a fear of needles. The Biojector device removes that fear from the equation. Biojector treatments are administered by a certified professional at our clinics, and I have heard patients talk about how grateful they are that we offer this technology.”

One risk for health care professionals is the risk of nicks or accidental needle pricks. Since this device has no needle or sharp edges, Rahiminejad emphasizes it simply does not pose that particular risk.

For patients, in addition to eliminating the fear factor associated with needles and other sharp objects, Rahiminejad says the Biojector also represents a reduced risk of cross contamination and increased accuracy of dosage measurements.

“The tool eliminates techniquerelated difficulties often associated with the administration of shots,” says Rahiminejad. “You no longer have to worry about shots that go well with one technician and then seem to miss their target completely with another.”

Currently, the Biojector tool isn’t available for all medical needs; it is revolutionizing pain management treatment in chiropractor clinics throughout Arizona, including the BackFIt Health + Spine Clinics. People interested in learning more about the Biojector tool and its practical uses for needle-free pain management should contact BackFit Health + Spine at (888) 667-5235.

BackFit Health + Spine also offers chiropractic adjustments, massage therapy, spinal decompression, physical therapy and more at its Phoenix-area locations.

First Credit Union celebrates 85th anniversary

First Credit Union is marking its 85th anniversary with a new look and a promotion that gives back to its members.

The Chandler-based credit union has unveiled a new, updated logo that honors its long history. Additionally, FCU is giving 85 members up to $85 each during a special summer-long promotion.

“In celebration of our 85th anniversary, we took the opportunity to refresh our tagline and introduce a new logo,” says Jay Curtis, FCU president and CEO. “The previous logo, depicting the sun rising over a mesa, was introduced in the early 1980s and seemed ready to evolve. The new logo, while fresh and modern, gives a nod to its predecessor with the retention of the sun.”

FCU’s new tagline is “Trusted Solutions Since 1929.”

Random drawings will be held weekly during the promotion. No purchase is necessary.

Complete details and official rules, including how to participate without making a purchase, is available at www. firstcu.net.

“For 85 years, FCU has existed to serve the community and our members,” Curtis says. “Our growth and longevity are attributed to solid financial principals, community service and our commitment to put members first.”

First Credit Union was established by a group of U.S. Border Patrol Agents in 1929. Since then, FCU has grown to more than 41,000 members and more that $415 million in assets. FCU offers membership to persons who live, work and worship within a 10-mile radius of any First Credit Union branch. The field of membership also includes immediate family members of a current member, household members, employees or retirees of FCU select employer groups and member referrals.

The 85 chances to get the $85 promotion is open to all members. A total of 85 debit or credit card transactions will be randomly selected and the purchase amount, up to $85, will be credited back to the corresponding member’s account. Every time members use their eligible First Credit Union Visa debit or credit card for purchases during the promotional period, which runs until Friday, Sept. 5, there is another chance to receive up to $85 to pay for their purchase.

WHAT’S IT WORTH?

The summer is upon us and, with temperatures in the 100s, I am sure you would like the opportunity to get away for a long weekend to a “cool” vacation spot. You can generate that extra cash to enjoy this break by using an asset you already own.

Is there something in your safety deposit box, garage, a drawer or maybe on a wall in your home that has value and can be converted to cash? Take some time and look for this asset that no longer is bringing you pleasure or is not appreciating and find out “What’s it worth.”

There are experts who have the capability to evaluate collectables, jewelry, art, etc. through research and market knowledge who will provide the estimated value of your

item. There are consignment stores on every corner that will take the item and attempt to find buyers. There is also the Internet, which is becoming a mall and shopping center. The valuables that before were not readily saleable now can be sold 24 hours a day. But first you need to have the experts determine a value. From this point, the marketplace will determine the true selling price. Also ask the experts if they are possible buyers of the assets. It will expedite the conversion of the item to cash. Please take the time on one of these hot days to search for valuables that can be converted to funds for a break from the heat. Remember there are experts and buyers who want to assist!
