Sign holder helps market open houses, events at homes

Real estate agent Marsha Sandoval, and her husband, Robert, a 30-year mortgage broker in the Valley, have formed a new business, EZ Industries, which is marketing a new sidewalk sign holder. The company introduced EZBase, the first platform sign base holder on the market.

Holding open houses is a major way real estate agents advertise for buyers, but placing the temporary neighborhood directional signs is always an inconvenience, Marsha Sandoval said.

“The metal A-frame holders are heavy, require tools to affix the signs, burn your hands in the summer and blow over with

the slightest breeze,” Sandoval said. “The only other option, the flimsy H-frame holders, must be pounded into the ground.”

Ten years ago, Sandoval started using a wooden sign base crafted by her husband in their garage. “Through the years, we have tweaked and perfected the design for maximum stability and durability. I’ve never had one blow over,” Sandoval said.

Other agents inquired about her signs and asked the couple to make some signs for them, but the Sandovals politely declined because they were busy with their own real estate transactions.

Eventually, Marsha Sandoval realized she had a new

Last July, Sandoval offered to help another agent change a flat tire, but then had to help unload several heavy, metal sign frames from her friend’s trunk to get to the jack. That night she reminded her husband about the hassle of dealing with the metal holders. Robert suggested that they reconsider manufacturing the platform sign bases. They checked the Internet and did not find a similar product.

They decided the time was right to offer other agents and business owners the ease of using their sign holder design.

The EZBase platform design does not require sandbags to weigh it down, and no tools are required to affix the signs. They are weather resistant. Because the signs can be placed on any surface, including rocks, grass, dirt or concrete, they can be placed in the most visual location on a corner.

Although the EZBase was originally developed to introduce a better open house sign option to real estate agents, the Sandovals soon realized restaurant owners, retailers, even politicians and consumers would consider their product a better option for sidewalk marketing.

According to Sandoval, restaurants and retailers frequently use sidewalk signs to advertise specials and menu boards. Consumers and homeowners could use the product to advertise garage

sales, birthday or graduation parties, or any other temporary or special event advertising.

“Other business owners and even consumers may appreciate an alternative to the way they put their signs out now,” Sandoval said.

“With the EZBase, you simply place the platform wherever the line of sight is best, place the sign in the slot and walk away. It’s that easy.” Information on the signs is available at www.ezbases.com.

In May 2014, ThomasNet, an online supply and product source, and ISM launched the “30 Under 30” program to generate awareness among millennials (age 18 to 32) about the rewards of a supply chain career. The program spotlights those professionals whose initiative, collaboration, innovation, and/or leadership are impacting this sector.

“Having exceptional people in supply chain positions is critical to the health and vitality of individual businesses and the strength of our economy,” said Mark Holst-Knudsen, president of ThomasNet. “These rising stars are making significant contributions to their organizations every day— saving them millions of dollars while improving their performance.”

Custom home builder wins award

Alexander Enterprises Construction & Development of Chandler has been awarded “Best of Houzz” for Customer Satisfaction by Houzz, the leading platform for home remodeling and design.

The 22-year-old custom home and remodeling business was chosen by the more than 25 million monthly users that comprise the Houzz community, including the more than 500,000 active home building, remodeling and design industry professionals.

The Best of Houzz award is given in two categories: design and customer satisfaction. Design award winners’ work was the most popular among the more than 25 million monthly users on Houzz, known as “Houzzers.” Customer satisfaction honors are determined by a variety of factors, including the number and quality of client reviews a professional received in 2014.

Winners will receive a “Best of Houzz 2015” badge on their profiles, helping Houzz users around the world who discover and love a professional’s work to learn even more about that business’ popularity and satisfaction rating among their peers in the Houzz community.

“Houzz has become an important collaborative tool that we use with clients to help stimulate and communicate ideas about their projects,” said Kimberley Cullumber Alexander, who along with her husband, Kevin Alexander, operate Alexander Enterprises.

“Winning the Best of Houzz 2015 Customer Service Award is especially gratifying, as at the heart of our business is our desire to hear a homeowner say, after all is said and done, that they are happy they choose us and that they would do so again.”

Liza Hausman, vice president of

industry marketing for Houzz, said Houzz was delighted to recognize Alexander Enterprises Construction & Development, among the top professionals as judged by its community of homeowners and design enthusiasts.

“Houzz provides homeowners with a 360-degree view of home building, remodeling and design industry professionals, empowering them to engage the right people and products for their project,” Hausman said.

Alexander said the company’s guiding principle has been to go above and beyond what is expected and to handle clients’ homebuilding experience “as if it were our own.”

“This has allowed us to earn their trust and future business,” Alexander said. “In addition, with few exceptions, our clients continue to be lifelong friends. This is the ultimate reward.”

Alexander Enterprises Construction & Development is a boutique custom home building and remodeling company, specializing in high-end custom homes in the Phoenix metropolitan area since 1992. Their projects include awardwinning custom homes and modest to lavish remodels, additions, tenant improvements and small commercial projects.

Real estate agent brings proven marketing plan

Fabio Duran, a real estate agent with Home Smart, looks to meet the needs of clients of buyers and sellers throughout Phoenix and the East Valley.

Duran also is bilingual which helps him help many Spanish-speaking clients in the Hispanic community. With a background in business and knowledge of the mortgage industry, Duran’s experience gives him knowledge to assist clients with the challenges they face when making real estate decisions.

Duran knows that to succeed in the competitive climate of real estate, an agent can no longer sell a home by placing a for-sale sign on the lawn and enter a property into MLS. Today’s market requires an agent who is an educated business person with extensive knowledge and a proven marketing plan.

Duran assists buyers and sellers in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Mesa, Chandler and surrounding areas.
