Jewish congregation wishes the Rev. O’Neal well

The Sun Lakes Jewish Congregation, an established reform congregation that meets at the Sun Lakes Chapel on the second Friday of the month at 7:30 p.m., had one last opportunity to welcome the Rev. Jim O’Neal to the pulpit. The congregation wished him well in his retirement. He spoke to the importance of motherhood and the rabbi presented a crystal plaque for his friendship over the years. O’Neal presented gifts to the women in the congregation in recognition of motherhood.

Services are a great way to meet new people, connect with Judaism and learn. New attendees are invited to be introduced at the service and members of the congregation connect with these attendees. Oneg Shabbats are held immediately after the service at Sun Lakes Country Club. Everyone is invited to attend.

The next Sabbath service will be held on Friday, June 12, at the Sun Lakes Chapel. Everyone is invited to the annual healing service and the Oneg after the service.

Shalom Chapter of Hadassah to resume meeting in fall

The Shalom Chapter of Hadassah celebrated the end of its season with a May 12 high tea and fashion show at the Oakwood Clubhouse in Sun Lakes.

Guests got into the spirit by wearing hats and white gloves. Teapot flower centerpieces decorated the tables along with faux jewelry and ceramic shoe knickknacks.

The organization’s publicist, Doris Codkind, said in a press release that the setting was “just lovely and complemented the models wearing

Chico’s outfits as they meandered between the tables. Such a beautiful afternoon and a memorable event that will be repeated next year.”

The Shalom Chapter of Hadassah is looking forward to resuming its meetings. For information about becoming a member of Shalom Hadassah, call Cyril Goodman at (480) 802-0243 or Kathy McKimmy at (480) 895-5194. Regular meetings are set for Sept. 30, Oct. 20, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15.
