RICHARD FRYE “The original owner Pat De Pree had the house built by Richard Frye of Frye Construction. Her husband was the son of Max De Pree, the founder of Herman Miller Furniture Co., who manufactured the famous Eames chair and other postwar modern furniture designs that are classic to this day.
Pat’s husband had
died and her son Mark designed the house as his Mother’s private space. It was Marks first “big project” as a budding Architect. Pat was very involved in the design and the three of us put this wonderful house together. Pat would never let us use the word “contemporary”. She always addressed it as “ modern”.
Pat now
lives at Del Mesa Carmel and Mark is in New Mexico designing and building very unique homes.
