HEALTHY
WINTER COLD AND FLU FIGHTING TIPS:
The season of colds and flu is upon us, but fear not, we have a secret weapon to nip it in the bud. McNab’s SuperGuard is a convenient and affordable single dose sachet that provides you with a carefully formulated dose of the vitamins, minerals, and herbs your body needs to fight off winter viruses. This six-tablet combination contains immune-boosting ingredients like vitamins A, B, C, D and E, which help your body fight off harmful microorganisms, and minerals like copper, selenium, and zinc which are essential in maintaining an effective immune system and preventing common viral infections. What sets McNab’s SuperGuard apart is super-ingredient Sutherlandia*, Africa’s very own
immune-boosting herb, which has been used for centuries by many different cultures to combat infection and boost immune function. At McNab’s we realise that feeling sick drains your body of precious energy and that is why McNab’s SuperGuard not only boosts your immune system, but it also gives you a much needed boost of energy. WINTER COLD AND FLU FIGHTING TIPS: • Avoid junk food and choose hearty vegetable soups to keep you warmed up this winter. • Get at least 7 hours of sleep each night to give your body a chance to build your immune system. • Drink alcohol moderately – excessive drinking can suppress your immune system for a few
•
days afterwards. Be proactive by boosting your immune system with a dose of SuperGuard every two days. Reacting to the first sneeze or itchy throat is probably too late.
PS: Once you have recoverd from your cold and flu, why not try McNab’s SuperCharge your daily dose of sustained energy. Our modern lifestyles of little sleep, long work hours, eating junk food, and drinking lots of caffeine and alcohol often results in a micronutrient deficiency, causing low energy levels. McNab’s SuperCharge combats this with a carefully selected range of multivitamins, minerals, omega oils, and herbs such as Superherb Siberian Ginseng for an extra boost of all-day energy and all-round wellness.

SPICY HOT CAULIFLOWER SALAD Serves 4
By Jenny Morris Follow Jenny @jennymorrischef
INGREDIENTS: • 4 tbls olive oil • 1 tsp white mustard seeds • 2 cm fresh root ginger, peeled and cut into thin strips • 2 cloves garlic, roughly chopped • ½ tsp turmeric • 2 green chillies, sliced in half lengthways • 3 cups snowy white cauliflower florets • Juice of 1 lemon • ½ tsp salt • Wellingtons Chutney of your choice • 2 tbls coriander, roughly chopped METHOD: Heat the olive oil, add the mustard seeds and cook till they pop. They jump all over so be careful – and don’t burn them! Add the ginger and garlic, turmeric and chillies and fry gently while stirring all the time for about 2 minutes. Add the cauliflower, give it a good stir to coat with the spices and cook for 8- 10 minutes. Remove from the heat, add the lemon juice, stir in the Chutney, salt and coriander and give it a good toss. Serve hot. Tip: This is great as a salad served at room temperature, or served hot as a side dish. It also works as a vegetarian dish served with fragrant saffron rice. © Jenny Morris 2014 -2015

GEORGE RANDELL SCHOOL PLAY
George Randell Primary’s Drama Department presented a “Fairytale with a Twist” in their production of The Adventures of Rose Red – Snow White’s Less Famous Sister. Young Rose Red had just turned thirteen and the pressure was on to follow in her famous sister’s footsteps, the beautiful Snow White. But is success and
fame really the key to true happiness? This entertaining school play, produced by Ms Verushka Packery and co-produced by Mr Mark Wood, catered for both scholars and adults, culminating in a Banquet Evening. In the photos are members of the cast from “The Adventures of Rose Red – Snow White’s Less Famous Sister”.

EISTEDDFOD

SAD GOODBYE It was with sad hearts that we learned of the passing away of the Port Rex School Principal, Mr. Rob Piderit, a great man dedicated to keeping Port Rex a school to be reckoned with in East London. Our sympathies go out to the Piderit family and our thoughts are with the Staff and Pupils of Port Rex as they help to build the future of this great school together with the next principal in charge. The build-up to the exams has come and gone and the pupils are busy writing their chosen subjects, where the results will determine their academic well-being for years to come.
