Welcome It has now been over two years since the launch of our SymAgri brand which offers practical precision technology solutions and support to farmers, farm machinery dealers and original farm equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Back in 2020 being part of the Thurlow Nunn Group, which includes Thurlow Nunn Standen, we recognised that there was a need for a specialist department focusing on precision technology within agriculture. We appreciated that this department needed to be independent and carry a wide range of products to suit an everdeveloping sector within agriculture. As a result, we created SymAgri, which has been growing and gaining a reputation for excellent service. In the last two years, we have faced many challenges, both inside and outside the agricultural industry. Like most customers and companies, SymAgri has faced supply and pricing problems which have been challenging, but we have overcome most and continue to work hard on the rest. Despite all this everyone at SymAgri are incredibly proud of what we have achieved in a relatively short space of time. We pride ourselves on good honest advice, support and service, and this is reflected in the business we have received. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers. Trimble Acquires Bilberry to Extend its Selective Spraying Capabilities

rimble has announced that an agreement has been reached to acquire Bilberry, a French technology company specialising in selective spraying systems for sustainable farming. The deal is expected to close by the end of 2022, subject to conditions and approval. Farmers face a variety of challenges. This includes rising costs for production, ever increasing weed resistance against herbicides and expanding regulations for the encouragement of using sustainable farming practices. The regulations aim to target improving soil restoration, fertility and nutrients, as well as trying to reduce chemical use. Selective spraying is ideal for farmers trying to address these issues. Bilberry uses artificial technology (AI) systems to identify a wide variety of weed species in real time for a vast range of crop types. This system is designed for sprayers to be retrofitted with this technology to apply herbicide to only weeds, rather than the entire crop and ground being sprayed together. This also enables farmers to visualise their crops on a density map to track the evolution of any problem areas. Case studies have shown that the system can reduce the usage of herbicides by more than 80%, while at the same time protecting the environment as well as lower input costs. Combining the technology and strengths of both Trimble and Bilberry will lead to the development of new, exciting solutions of selective spraying for farmers globally who struggle to integrate hardware and software products across various agriculture equipment brands. We look forward to implementing this new technology once the deal has been closed by the end of this year.

Out and About 19th August A trio of Fendt Tractors were set up on RTK NTrip using VRS NOW Subscription, along with sim cards and aerials set up and calibrated.

Meet the Team Katharina Sofley Senior Administrator - SymAgri

’m the new Senior Administrator for SymAgri, based in Attleborough. My role requires me to support the team with administrative duties and offer customer service support to our customers regards guidance and precision agriculture solutions. Agricultural Farming is completely new to me, but I’m working with a fab team who are doing an amazing job teaching me the ropes! Previous roles include Motortrade sales & customer service, Rewards Marketing and Administration & patient relations within the NHS. At home I am Mum to two little people, a dog and a cat; who keep my partner and I busier than any job we’ve ever had! We’re an outdoor family, we enjoy exploring our beautiful countryside and travelling when we can.

Backing up the data has added the security factor so that if anything was to be broken or stolen, we would be able to load that customer’s data back up onto another screen. As part of the Winter Service, any faults found on the system are repaired and broken components are replaced*.”

Is the winter service worth doing? YES Would I need to do it every year? Not necessarily, but it would be recommended to keep up with the latest software, reducing software bugs and helping to make sure your GPS is performing at a high level. Is my data used for anyone else? Data is securely stored on our servers and is not accessible to anyone outside of SymAgri’s Technology department.

Success in Sabanto for Trimble

rimble Ventures, Trimble’s corporate venture capital fund, announced its investment in Sabanto, Inc. Sabanto is a U.S.-based agricultural technology company focusing on autonomous workflows throughout the farming cycle being offered as Farming as a Service (FaaS). This investment supports Trimble Ventures’ mission to invest in early and growth-stage companies that are accelerating innovation, digital transformation and sustainability in the industries Trimble serves—such as agriculture, construction, geospatial and transportation. The investment terms were not disclosed. Farmers face a variety of challenges including labor shortages, non-stop field operations, weather and significant capital expenses for agriculture machinery. Sabanto addresses these challenges by providing FaaS through swarms of multiple smaller tractors equipped with its autonomous technology to perform in-field operations. Sabanto has proven its ability to automate a variety of row crop field operations over significant acres throughout the Midwest. Leveraging a fleet of smaller 60 and 90 HP tractors, the company has autonomously tilled, planted, seeded, weeded, applied and mowed across Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Missouri, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin and Texas. The company’s advanced mission control platform has been pivotal in deploying multiple systems for multiple days of non-stop operation and pushing the FaaS concept by planting over 750 acres of corn and soybeans in one season with a single 60 HP tractor. “We are focused on investing in companies that are seeking to address important problems in markets that align with Trimble’s mission of transforming the way the world works,” said Phil Sawarynski, managing director and co-head, Trimble Ventures. “Sabanto is an ag technology pioneer offering autonomous tractors and services for row crops that can increase efficiency and maximize profitability for farmers. These screens are a costeffective approach to an implement manufacture control box. This gives you the benefit of adding any ISOBUS implement onto it. With the system hosting an Android operating platform, this system is completely expandable for future use whilst being good value for money. Driver Training Driver refresher training with SymAgri As a team, we take the fast-moving world of precision agriculture very seriously. Given the nature of this subject, we are also aware of the need for education. That’s why we would like to offer some refresher training sessions for all abilities. These sessions are short and will consist of a general precision farming discussion, covering topics that are universal to all our brands, before breaking out into brandspecific sessions. All these sessions are being kept small and relatively short to enable participants to get the maximum benefit from attending. They are designed for any operator, new or experienced and will cover guidance and operating machines together, but are not regarded as a full driver training course. New dates for our GPS Clinics will be available in 2023, More dates will be added depending on demand, but may not be at the same location as requested.
