Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,

The conversation around AI adoption is louder than ever. As new tools find themselves in our daily workflows, some visible and others quietly running in the background, the pace of change can feel nothing short of ferocious. For a business with more than 150 years of history, we’re choosing to meet this moment not with hesitation, but with curiosity and intent. Our focus is clear: to understand, experiment, and integrate the technologies that will make us more efficient, more agile, and more competitive for the next century.

At an event last week featuring several distinguished speakers, including Sir Vince Cable, the discussion turned to the growing influence of China and India on Western markets. From the surge of Chinese automotive brands entering the UK to the rapid acceleration of AI capabilities, one question dominated the room: How do we keep pace?

Sir Vince’s answer was refreshingly direct: the most powerful skill any organisation or individual can cultivate right now is the ability of learning how to learn. Whether that means mastering a new AI platform, building, and implementing processes that drive revenue, or sharpening our understanding of what “good” looks like in a shifting landscape, adaptability is becoming our greatest competitive advantage. Standing still simply isn’t an option.

Politically, the UK finds itself in a challenging period, and while trading conditions remain tough, our diversified portfolio of operating companies continues to serve us well. It’s this resilience that enables us to invest meaningfully in our infrastructure from Littleport to Luton while also pursuing new opportunities for growth, whether through new brands, new sites, or both.

We close H1 in profit, and I remain optimistic about what lies ahead.

Thank you for your continued hard work and commitment.

Will

£308,000 Raised for Dementia UK

We are incredibly proud to share that, together, we have raised an amazing £308,000 for Dementia UK.

As part of our 150th anniversary celebrations, we set ourselves the ambitious goal of raising £150,000 in memory of John Thurlow, following his sad passing in 2024. Thanks to the incredible efforts and generosity of our colleagues, customers, friends, and families, we not only achieved this goal - we more than doubled it.

From fundraising events and personal challenges to generous donations and support from across the business, every contribution helped us reach this incredible milestone. The commitment shown by everyone involved has been truly inspiring and reflects the fantastic community we have at Thurlow Nunn Group.

A huge thank you to everyone who played a part in supporting this important cause and helping us create a lasting tribute in John’s memory.

Local Market Festival supports Dawn’s New Horizon

On 9 May, we celebrated the incredible businesses and community spirit of Norwich with a special Local Market Festival held at our MG dealership on Cromer Road.

The event brought together local vendors and members of the Norwich community for a day of shopping, entertainment, delicious food, raffles, and family-friendly activities. The spacious outdoor setting provided the perfect backdrop to showcase a wide range of local businesses and talents.

Supporting an important local cause

The festival was organised in support of Dawn’s New Horizon, a Norwich-based charity that provides vital assistance to survivors of domestic abuse.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped organise the event, took part as a vendor, or attended on the day. Your support and enthusiasm helped create a memorable occasion while raising awareness for a truly important cause.

Together, we celebrated local business, strengthened community connections, and contributed to a meaningful charity initiative.

Awards

Hyundai Aftersales Retailer of the Year

We are proud to share that in February 2026 Thurlow Nunn Lowestoft was awarded Aftersales Retailer of the Year at the Hyundai Annual Retailer Awards, recognising outstanding performance across Hyundai’s UK retail network of 157 dealerships.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for the Lowestoft site and a strong start since joining the Hyundai franchise in September 2024, when Thurlow Nunn acquired its first Hyundai dealership.

The award highlights the team’s exceptional performance in key areas including customer experience and long-term customer retention, reflecting their consistent focus on delivering highquality aftersales support.

Congratulations to everyone at Lowestoft for this outstanding achievement and for setting a strong benchmark within the Hyundai network.

Shortlisted for three AM Awards 2026

We’re proud to share that Thurlow Nunn was shortlisted for three categories at the Automotive Management Awards 2026:

Best in Customer Service Dealer Group of the Year (up to 20 sites) Community Hero Award

While we did not take home a win on the night, being shortlisted across three categories at such a prestigious industry event is a significant achievement in itself and reflects the continued strength and progress across the group.

These nominations recognise the dedication, professionalism, and passion shown by colleagues every day from delivering excellent customer experiences, to supporting our local communities, and striving for continuous improvement across every part of the business.

We are incredibly proud to have been recognised alongside some of the best businesses in the automotive industry, and to stand among the finalists at such a highly respected awards programme.

A huge thank you goes to all colleagues for their ongoing commitment, and to our customers for their continued support. We look forward to building on this recognition as we continue to raise standards across the group.

Recognising our Site Leads

Since January, colleagues across our TNS branches have stepped up to take on the additional role of Site Lead, helping to ensure our sites remain safe, compliant, well-maintained, and consistently presented to the high standards we expect.

Alongside their existing roles as Service Managers and Parts Manager, we’d like to recognise the following colleagues for the contribution they are making in this impor tant area:

The Site Lead role provides focused oversight of branch facilities, Health & Safety compliance, and site presentation. Working closely with colleagues at each location, Site Leads play a key part in helping ensure our branches remain safe, well-presented places to work and visit, and continue to meet company standards.

Much of this work takes place behind the scenes, from supporting improvements and monitoring compliance activities to helping maintain clean, organised, and professional working environments. While often not immediately visible, it has a real and positive impact on the day-to-day experience across our sites.

The success of this initiative relies on everyone working together. By supporting Site Leads and responding positively to recommendations and improvement actions, we can continue to uphold the high standards expected across our branches.

We would like to thank Hannah, Heather, Emily, Darren and Simon for the commitment they have shown since taking on this role, and for the positive difference they continue to make at their sites.

AI in the workplace: opportunity or risk?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) seems to be everywhere at the moment, from helping us draft emails and analyse data to creating presentations and answering customer queries. Used well, AI can save time, improve efficiency, and help us focus on the work that really matters.

One of the biggest advantages of AI is its ability to handle repetitive tasks quickly and accurately. Whether it’s summarising information, generating reports, or helping with research, AI can be a useful tool that supports productivity and frees up time for more strategic work.

However, while AI offers many benefits, it is important to remember that it isn’t perfect. AI-generated content can sometimes be inaccurate, incomplete, or influenced by bias in the data it has been trained on. For this reason, any information produced by AI should always be reviewed and checked before being relied upon.

Data security is another important consideration. Employees should never enter confidential company information, customer details, or sensitive personal data into public AI tools unless they have been approved for business use. Protecting company and customer information remains a top priority.

There is also a risk of becoming too reliant on AI. While these tools can provide valuable support, they should complement human expertise rather than replace it. Critical thinking, professional judgement, and personal experience remain essential in making sound business decisions. As AI technology continues to develop, it is likely to become an increasingly important part of our working lives. By embracing its benefits while remaining aware of the risks, we can use AI responsibly, safely, and effectively.

Top Tips for using AI responsibly

• Treat AI as a helpful assistant, not a decision-maker.

• Always check facts, figures, and recommendations.

• Never share confidential or sensitive information.

• Be aware that AI can make mistakes.

• Use your own judgement and expertise when reviewing outputs.

• AI is a powerful tool, and when used responsibly, it can help us work smarter while maintaining the high standards our customers and colleagues expect.

Celebrating Employee Appreciation Day

In March, colleagues across the company came together to mark Employee Appreciation Day, a special opportunity to recognise and thank the people who contribute to the success of our business every day.

As an organisation, we understand that our achievements are built on the dedication, expertise, and commitment of our colleagues. Employee Appreciation Day provided a chance to acknowledge the hard work taking place across both our automotive and agricultural divisions and to show our gratitude for the important role each person plays.

To celebrate the occasion, General Managers at each site arranged lunch for their teams, giving colleagues an opportunity to take a break, spend time together, and enjoy a well-deserved thank you from the business.

The day was a reminder of the strength of our teams and the positive culture that exists throughout Thurlow Nunn Group. Whether serving customers, supporting colleagues, or helping our operations run efficiently behind the scenes, every contribution helps drive the business forward.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all colleagues across the Group for their continued dedication, professionalism, and teamwork. Your commitment is greatly valued and remains central to the success of our organisation.

Six months on: welcoming our Corby and Northampton teams

Earlier this year, Thurlow Nunn welcomed two new sites into the group following the acquisition of Spirit Motor Group’s MG and Hyundai dealerships in Corby and Northampton

Six months on, these sites are now firmly established within the Thurlow Nunn Group, and we would like to recognise the contribution made by our colleagues across these locations during the transition.

The integration has enabled us to strengthen our presence in Northamptonshire while continuing to deliver the high standards of customer service and family values that are central to the Thurlow Nunn brand. Importantly, customers have continued to be supported by the familiar teams they know and trust, helping to ensure a smooth and successful transition.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making the integration such a success. We look forward to building on this momentum as we continue to grow and strengthen our business across the region.

FOCUS ON SAFETY

YOUR SAFETY MATTERS

Focus on safety

Safety continues to develop across the group, with more training taking place both internally and externally. Thank you to all staff who have attended courses and to the managers who continue to support training across their teams.

Summer safety

With temperatures rising and hotter weather expected, please take extra care when working in warm conditions.

Heat stroke is a medical emergency. Look out for symptoms including:

• Confusion, agitation, delirium, slurred speech, seizures or loss of consciousness.

• A high temperature above 40°C (104°F).

• Hot, flushed and dry skin, although skin may remain clammy if heat stroke is brought on by strenuous physical activity.

• A rapid heart rate and fast, shallow breathing.

• Severe nausea, vomiting or an upset stomach.

If you experience any of these symptoms, tell someone immediately, stop work, move to a cool or shaded area and drink water. Remove unnecessary layers and apply cold cloths or ice packs where possible. Do not drive or operate machinery until you feel fully recovered.

To help staff stay comfortable, shorts and T-shirts are permitted in workshops during hot weather. However, PPE and safety boots must still be worn at all times.

For more information, visit the NHS guidance on heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Hi-Visibility now mandatory

Hi-visibility jackets or vests are now mandatory in all yards and workshops on TNS sites.

Technicians will receive hi-visibility overalls in the coming weeks, all other employees must wear hi-vis when entering workshops or yard areas. This requirement also applies to visitors, contractors and suppliers, with hi-vis available to borrow on site.

Please remain vigilant around moving vehicles and ensure anyone under your supervision is wearing the appropriate PPE.

Health and Safety

Training highlights

Thank you to everyone who has completed the Employee Safety Commitment Statement on Power Plus. The statement must be completed annually, so if you have not yet done so, please complete it as soon as possible and check that your safety training is up to date.

Training attendance has been excellent so far this year, with:

• 41 colleagues completing First Aid training across Milton Keynes, Luton, Norwich, Lowestoft, King’s Lynn, Holt and Kennett.

• 12 new Fire Marshals trained in Milton Keynes and Norwich.

• 13 staff completing the Level 3 Supervising Mental Health course in Attleborough with colleagues from Distrigo, Head Office, TNS and TN.

• More than 70 colleagues attending Banksman, Abrasive Wheels, Working at Height, Forklift and Telescopic Truck training.

• Josh Robinson, Lisa MacArthur, Charlie Ellis, Mason Harper, Mark Sturgess and Heather Marshall successfully completing the IOSH Managing Safely course.

We're also pleased to report that there have been no RIDDOR-reportable accidents or serious incidents this quarter. Thank you for your continued vigilance and commitment to keeping our workplaces safe and secure.

Please continue to pay attention to site security measures, including gates, fences and doors. If you see something that doesn't look right, please report it.

Keep Safe!

Wellbeing Awareness - Looking back and looking forward

Over the past few months, we have marked a number of important wellbeing awareness campaigns, including Stress Awareness Month, Wear It Green Day for the Mental Health Foundation, Autism Awareness Month, Nutrition and Hydration Week, Eating Disorder Awareness Week, Blue Monday, and World Mental Health Day.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Stress Awareness Month challenges and to those who supported Wear It Green Day by wearing green and donating to the Mental Health Foundation. Your participation helped raise awareness and support important conversations around wellbeing.

Throughout these campaigns, we have shared resources, information, and guidance to help colleagues better understand a range of wellbeing topics. While awareness days may come and go, the importance of learning, understanding, and supporting one another remains all year round. We hope the information shared has provided useful insights and encouraged positive conversations about wellbeing.

Looking ahead, we will continue to run a range of wellbeing and awareness campaigns, alongside events and activities throughout the year. We encourage everyone to take part, explore the resources shared, and continue engaging with topics that support both personal wellbeing and a positive, supportive environment for colleagues across the organisation.

Meet Chris Bone from Fakenham

A little about me:

I started my career with the Royal Air Force at 17 as a Mechanical Engineer, serving for 20 years in the UK and overseas. After leaving the RAF, I worked as an ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems Auditor at Group Lotus, but I missed the practical side of engineering. I joined TNS as a Service Technician and, after 10 months, progressed into the Service Manager role.

What is your favourite part about working for Thurlow Nunn Family?

I really value the family atmosphere within the business. There is a strong sense of belonging, and I appreciate that people are approachable and genuinely care about their colleagues.

What has been the most rewarding moment or achievement during your time here?

Becoming Service Manager has been the most rewarding achievement. It has allowed me to return to what I enjoyed most in the RAF - leading, supporting, and developing a team.

What skills, qualities, and advice would you share with someone looking to start their career at Thurlow Nunn Family?

Being a good team player, having a positive attitude, and being willing to learn are essential. Good communication, teamwork, and the ability to work independently are important within the Service Department.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work, including any hobbies or interests?

I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend, family, and friends. I like walking my dog along the Nor folk coast, visiting country pubs, listening to live music, and following football and cricket.

What is something that always makes you smile or brightens your day?

A sunny morning always puts me in a good mood. I enjoy being outdoors and making the most of good weather.

If you could learn a new skill or try something new, what would it be?

I would love to learn Spanish. It would make travelling more enjoyable and help me experience different cultures.
