Thermal Hazard Technology is pleased to announce RT Instruments as authorised representatives of THT equipment in the U.S. Jeff Rachford remains as Director of North American Operations and will coordinate RTI’s activities from THT’s Mid-West office. With a strong background in thermal analysis and support team located throughout the U.S. we are pleased to be partnering with RTI. The agreement is set to increase our presence in the American market and provide excellent service to satisfy customer demands.

ARC Latest publications We are delighted to see more and more posters and papers in the scientific literature detailing important studies using ARC. During April’s Battery Conference in Muenster, Germany, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) presented a poster entitled “Correlation between Pressure and Temperature during Thermal Runaway Measurement on Lithium-ion Cells in an Accelerating Rate Calorimeter” KIT have also recently published a paper describing the use of our EV-ARC to study “Thermal behavior and electrochemical heat generation in a commercial 40 Ah lithium ion pouch cell.”
ARC Training Course - China THT’s global presence is perhaps strongest in China – the number of users of all calorimeters from the standard EV+ and BPC continues to grow and there is need for training of new and experienced users. THT has a collaboration with TsingHua University, home to a laboratory containing several of THT’s battery calorimeters. THT offers regular seminar and training courses at the TsingHua facility. These cater for both those new to the technology and those with experience. The last meeting took place in April with seminar presentations given by Dr Xuning Feng of Tsinghua University and Stephen Ottaway and Danny Montgomery from THT UK. This is part of THT’s commitment to instrument users throughout the world.

ARC Options
Sparking Generation Unit (SGU) A new option for the ARC offers an integrated unit for repetitive spark generation. Located inside the calorimeter, the SGU provides dual spark generation under software control with manual override. Small, medium and large versions are available dependant upon battery size. Purchase of the OSU (Option Support Unit) is essential for operation of the SGU.
