Large format batteries? THT has implemented software for appropriate large power cyclers to give turnkey systems. For the automotive industry cyclers to 100V 200A have been implemented down to, for small batteries, 5V, 5A. First BPC and EV+ units have been shipped and are now being used across three continents. Testing of batteries and small modules…. Customer needs have been met that include video monitoring and gas collection for onward analysis. This led to the need for a sealed calorimeter with clear safety release mechanisms. This has been addressed by use of electromagnets. The measurement of heat profile over the cell surface has been addressed by up to 24 thermocouples monitoring the temperature over the cell surface.
THT EV+ will track at up to 20C/min, not the 2-3C/min from other calorimeters or poor design.
Most challenging and uniquely devised by THT is the need for Nail Penetration at controlled rate within the sealed environment. THT offers a variety of controlled speed high torque units – up to 10cm/sec and 37kN
Gas collection options From collection bags to closed cylinders, THT have a number of options, THT may advise, but the choice is down to the user

The LNFO - Liquid Nitrogen Flow Option allows sub zero testing to -50°C 7kVA – the EV+ power supply needs 6000Watts... Why? The larger calorimeters still need robustness and though not as thick as the standard ARC calorimeter – there is a lot of metal to heat. There is the need to heat at rates to 20C/min. You cannot have it both ways – either use a calorimeter with too thin walls or apply more power.
