Thermal Hazard Technology is pleased to announce RT Instruments as authorised representatives of THT equipment in the U.S. Jeff Rachford remains as Director of North American Operations and will coordinate RTI’s activities from THT’s Mid-West office. With a strong background in thermal analysis and support team located throughout the U.S. we are pleased to be partnering with RTI. The agreement is set to increase our presence in the American market and provide excellent service to satisfy customer demands.

In June THT will return as exhibitors at the 15th International Symposium on Loss Prevention and Safety Promotion. The conference is the international meeting point for process safety experts.

RSD: Thermocouple assemblies Simpler 2-way thermocouple assemblies are now available with a strain relief protection arm. The assemblies reduce risk of thermocouple damage when attaching RSD heads. For work with corrosive samples THT offer glass sleeves. These sleeves cover the thermocouple if the sample is very reactive.
ÂľRC: Manual Dosing and Pressure Valve Option. Situations arise when users wish to dose a liquid micro Reaction Calorimeter cell and record a pressure rise from the sample cell. This is achieved with the Manual Dosing and Pressure Valve Option. This option must be purchased with the Pressure Option. A 2.5ml Gas Tight syringe with PEEK interface is connected via a stainless pressure cell. Liquid is manually dosed through the valve in the pressure cell containing sample. The valve is then closed and resultant pressure rise recorded via the pressure transducer.

Users requiring further corrosion resistance can specify RSD Heads with Hastelloy or Inconel thermocouples instead of Stainless Steel. 3

µRC: Passive Cooling Cabinet The µRC has a lower temperature limit of -5°C when placed in standard laboratory conditions of 20-25°C ambient temperature. Modern cold room facilities provide much lower ambient temperatures and therefore can extend the lower temperature limit of the µRC.
Heat sinks placed on the cabinet base and rear walls have been designed to maximise surface area contact with the outside air. Acting as a passive heat exchanger, heat generated by the operation of the µRC is effectively transferred outside the chamber via the heat sinks. Rear mounted tubes loaded with desiccant maintain a dry atmosphere. Quick release door catches allow easy access to the µRC during instrument set-up i.e. cell loading and filling titration syringe. ARC New Users
With a room temerature of 5°C, the µRC can maintain an isothermal temperature of -20°C without any further modification to the standard peliter control. When operating at such low temperatures it is essential the atmosphere is dry to prevent moisture built up on the µRC’s electrical components.
