QUEEN CONSORT OF THE WARRI KINGDOM LEADING WITH GRACE

SUNDAY, JULY 23, 2023 ...NOT IN THISDAY STYLE? THEN YOU’RE NOT IN STYLE

As the daughter of the late billionaire philanthropist, Capt Hosa Okunbor, Olori Atuwatse III, the Queen Consort of the Warri Kingdom, grew up amidst privilege, but her parents instilled in her a deep sense of compassion and a burning desire to give back to the community. Beyond being a symbol of elegance, Olori Atuwatse III is a champion for social causes, touching the lives of the less privileged in ways that only a compassionate soul can.

The Internet Never Forgets.

While I found the analysis on the IT Girl (see page 18 quite interesting, my key takeaway from the article was the reminder that with the internet, we could create our narratives and present our desired image to a global audience. Keyword - “desired.”

It took me back to a conversation I had last week with an older friend who isn’t so sure about having a presence on social media. I remember saying to him, “If you do not tell your story, someone else will tell it for you.”

After reading that article, this statement resonates even more profoundly as it gives an insight into how the internet continues to shape how we are perceived by others and, even more importantly, why being active participants in shaping our online presence matters.

Gone are the days when societal norms and standards dictated how we should present ourselves to the world.

Like it or not, the internet has liberated us from these constraints, empowering individuals to showcase their uniqueness and share their stories on their terms. However, this freedom to create our narratives comes with a cautionary reminder: we are all architects of our digital selves. With every post, comment, or photo shared, we leave behind a digital trail that shapes our online identity.

It’s like constructing a mosaic, piece by piece, where our digital persona gradually takes form, representing us in the vast expanse of the online world.

As exciting as it sounds, we must remain conscious of the implications this power of self-presentation wields.

The digital version of ourselves, crafted through our online activities, can significantly impact our real-life experiences. It can potentially serve as either a robust asset or a formidable liability in the future. am sure you have all heard of scenarios where prospective employers conduct online background checks. They scour social media profiles, review past interactions, and gauge overall online behaviour to gain insights into our character and personality. The internet has become a massive reference book where our past actions are permanently recorded, and what we say or do today may resonate for years to come.

At this point, it’s also important to mention that authenticity is the heart of crafting our digital narratives. While we can present ourselves in a particular light, veering too far from our true selves can lead to discrepancies that may breed distrust.

As you log into the digital space this week, remember to go about it with purpose and mindfulness, embracing the remarkable potential of the internet while also cherishing the authenticity of our true selves.

The internet is yours to conquer, but remember, with great power comes great responsibility.

YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE A FASHION INFLUENCER TO DRESS LIKE ONE

Have you ever found yourself scrolling through Instagram, mesmerised by the impeccable style of fashion influencers? Their perfectly curated outfits, flawless accessories, and confident poses can make anyone want to join the trendsetting squad. But here’s a secret: you don’t need a million followers or a designer wardrobe to dress like a fashion influencer. With a little creativity and some insider tips, you can unleash your inner fashionista and turn heads wherever you go. Get ready to step up your style game because we’re about to spill the tea on how to dress like a fashion influencer, even if you’re not one!

A COMPLETE GUIDE TO SKIN PEELS AND PREPARING FOR YOUR FIRST TREATMENT

In the quest for radiant and youthful skin, many individuals turn to various skincare treatments, and one popular option that has gained significant attention in recent years is skin peels. These transformative procedures can help address a wide range of skin concerns, from dullness and hyperpigmentation to acne scars and fine lines. If you’re considering your first skin peel, it’s essential to understand the process and prepare adequately for optimal results. Keep reading as we explore everything you need to know about skin peels and guide you through the steps to ensure a successful treatment.

Understanding Skin Peels

Define Your Signature Style

Fashion influencers are known for their unique sense of style that sets them apart. Take some time to explore different fashion trends, create a mood board, and identify the elements that resonate most with you. Whether you’re into boho chic, edgy streetwear, or classic elegance, embracing your signature style will give you the confidence to rock any outfit.

Accessorise, Accessorise, Accessorise!

Accessories can transform a basic outfit into a showstopper.

Fashion influencers are masters at utilising accessories to elevate their looks. Experiment with statement jewellery, trendy sunglasses, scarves, belts, and hats to add that extra oomph to your ensemble. Remember, it’s all about the details!

Mix High and Low-End Pieces

Fashion influencers are experts at mixing high-end designer pieces with affordable fashion finds. Don’t shy away from hitting the thrift stores or scouting online

sales for unique and budgetfriendly items. Pair your favourite vintage shirt with designer jeans, or style a trendy fast-fashion dress with a luxury handbag. Mixing high- and low-end pieces adds depth and personality to your outfits without breaking the bank.

Embrace Colours and Prints

Colourful and eye-catching prints are staples in a fashion influencer’s wardrobe. Incorporate bold prints, vibrant hues, and colour-blocking into your outfits. Play with contrasting colours and experiment with different patterns. Let your inner artist shine through your fashion choices!

Confidence is Key

One thing all fashion influencers have in common is their confidence. Dressing like a fashion influencer means owning and wearing your style with pride. Walk confidently, maintain good posture, and rock your outfits like a runway model. Remember, when you feel good, you look good!

Create Unique Outfit Combinations

Fashion influencers are celebrated for their ability to create unexpected and unique outfit combinations. Mix and match different pieces from your wardrobe. Pair a feminine skirt with a graphic tee, style sneakers with a formal suit, or layer a jumpsuit over a turtleneck. Push your boundaries and let your creativity guide your fashion choices.

Pay Attention to Fit and Tailoring

Proper fit and tailoring can make even an inexpensive outfit look like a million bucks. Take the time to visit a tailor and have key pieces

adjusted to fit your body perfectly. Well-fitted clothing will enhance your silhouette and give your outfits a polished and professional touch.

Quality over Quantity

Invest in timeless, high-quality wardrobe staples. Fashion influencers know that having a few versatile and well-made pieces is more valuable than a closet full of fast-fashion items. Invest in a quality blazer, a classic handbag, a well-tailored coat, and comfortable, durable shoes. These timeless pieces will be the foundation of your influencer-worthy wardrobe.

Skin peels, also known as chemical peels, involve the application of a chemical solution to the skin’s surface, which exfoliates and encourages the regeneration of new, healthier skin cells. The intensity of the peel varies depending on the specific concerns being addressed, ranging from superficial peels that target the outermost layer of skin to deeper peels that penetrate into the deeper layers.

Types of Skin Peels

Superficial Peels - These peels primarily target the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin. They are suitable for treating minor skin issues such as uneven skin tone, light pigmentation, and mild acne scars.

Medium Peels - Medium peels penetrate the epidermis and reach the upper layers of the dermis. They effectively treat moderate skin concerns such as mild pigmentation, fine lines, and deeper acne scars.

Deep Peels - Reserved for severe skin concerns, deep peels reach the deeper layers of the dermis. They are recommended for addressing significant pigmentation issues, severe acne scars, and deep wrinkles. Deep peels often require more downtime and may involve higher risks and potential side effects.

Preparing for Your First Skin Peel Consultation with a Dermatologist Start by scheduling a consultation with a qualified dermatologist or sk-

incare professional who can assess your skin type concerns and recommend the most suitable peel for you. They will also provide crucial pre-peel instructions and answer any questions you may have.

Pre-Treatment Skincare

Your dermatologist may recommend a skincare routine leading up to the peel, which may include the use of specific cleansers, moisturisers, and sunscreens. This pre-treatment regimen helps prepare your skin and enhances the effectiveness of the peel while minimising potential side effects.

Avoid Sun Exposure

Protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays is crucial both before and after the peel. Sunburned skin is more prone to complications and can hinder the desired results of the peel. Make sure to wear sunscreen with a high SPF and seek shade whenever possible.

Discontinue Certain Products

Your dermatologist may advise you to stop using certain skincare products, such as retinoids, exfoliants, or prescription medica-

tions, for a specific period before the peel. These products can increase skin sensitivity and may interfere with the peel process.

Manage Expectations

It’s crucial to have realistic expectations about the results and potential side effects of the peel. While skin peels offer remarkable benefits, it may take multiple sessions to achieve your desired outcome, and some temporary redness, flaking, or mild discomfort is common after the treatment.

HRH OLORI ATUWATSE III

Leading with Grace

As the daughter of the late billionaire philanthropist, Capt Hosa Okunbor, Olori Atuwatse III, the Queen Consort of the Warri Kingdom, grew up amidst privilege, but her parents instilled in her a deep sense of compassion and a burning desire to give back to the community. This calling to serve others would later become the cornerstone of her reign as Queen. Assuming the throne brought forth a plethora of responsibilities, ones that she has embraced wholeheartedly. Beyond being a symbol of elegance, Olori Atuwatse III is a champion for social causes, touching the lives of the less privileged in ways that only a compassionate soul can. From educational initiatives to healthcare projects, her tireless efforts make a lasting impact, aligning perfectly with her late father’s philanthropic legacy. But being a Queen in a traditional kingdom like Warri is more than just charitable endeavors. It entails preserving and promoting centuries-old customs and beliefs, and that’s where Olori Atuwatse III’s unique strength shines through. She is a perfect blend of modernity and tradition, seamlessly marrying the two worlds. While she respects the customs of her forefathers, her unshakable faith in God plays a vital role in shaping her decisions and actions.

Many people have different expectations of what it means to be a Queen. Is it everything you hoped it would be, or are there surprises and challenges that come with the position? What have the past two years been like for you?

The past two years have been a journey of self-discovery, growth, and service. One of the most rewarding aspects of being a Queen Consort is the opportunity to serve and positively impact the lives of the people within the Kingdom. Engaging with the communities, listening to their needs, and working towards addressing them has been a privilege. Witnessing the positive changes and improvements in the lives of the people serve brings me immense joy.

However, the weight of expectations from various stakeholders can be daunting at times. Striking a balance between traditional customs and evolving societal dynamics requires careful navigation and diplomacy. have had to adapt to the demands of my role, continuously educate myself, and seek guidance from experienced individuals within the Kingdom. Despite these challenges, the opportunity to contribute to the advancement and well-being of the Warri Kingdom has made it a truly rewarding experience. I am committed to working alongside my husband and King, His Royal Majesty, Olu Atuwatse III CFR, the Olu of Warri, and the community to create a brighter future for all.

Before ascending to the throne, what was your life like? How did your experiences and background shape your approach to your current role?

My life thus far has been shaped by a wide range of experiences that have greatly influenced my approach to my current role as Queen Consort and my empathy for the people am fortunate to lead. I come from a family of high achievers who are avid believers in quality education, hard work & commitment. Though born with a silver spoon, our parents never failed to remind us of how hard they worked in life, teaching us to be grateful for the opportunities we had. My siblings and I were raised in discipline and nurtured to understand responsibility from a young age. Growing up, we would go on visits with our parents, meet people from diverse backgrounds, and learn to respect cultures, races, and institutions, which made us appreciate the broader society and how to interact with others irrespective of social status.

I can tell you that all my experiences - the good, bad & ugly - have instilled in me the importance of continuous learning, adaptability, and embracing new ideas in navigating the complexities and challenges that come with being a mother to the Itsekiri people and identifying with them in their aspirations, dreams, and struggles to become.

Did you entertain any apprehensions or fear, knowing that life as you knew it was about to change forever?

Of course! Initially, as with any major drastic change, was afraid. Whilst I suspected that my husband would become King one day, one never really plans for these things. However, this

is where my well-grounded faith and belief in God weighed in. I was taught to embrace challenges growing up, so my faith was able to give me a much-renewed perspective on dealing with transitions, embracing transformation, new challenges, and opportunities, and was encouraged to navigate them with grace and resilience. Rather than succumbing to fear, I chose to focus on the possibilities that lay ahead. accepted my new role as an opportunity to contribute to the betterment of my community and fulfil my mandate as a servant-leader. I have always been devoted to social impact and development, so I quickly saw this as the blessing it is: to use my platform for true and lasting change to touch lives and bring much-needed good to society. Change is an inherent part of life. Rather than being intimidated by it, saw it as an invitation to evolve and thrive.

I can see you are fully settled in now. Balancing royal responsibilities and family life must be very demanding. How do you attend to your duties while also focusing on building and nurturing your family?

Balancing royal responsibilities and family life is demanding, but I have much help. I try to adhere to a disciplined schedule to manage both aspects effectively. For me, family comes first, and my husband and children are my number one priority, taking preeminence over any other duties have. I devote my time to caring for my family, making meals, running through schoolwork, and putting the kids to bed as often as possible. However, am aware that there is no easy way to do everything all at once or by myself. Thankfully, I have a strong support system made up of a dedicated team who ensure that my official duties are carried out efficiently, allowing me to allocate muchneeded quality time for my family. Ultimately, finding balance requires continuous effort and adaptability.

You hold a significant role as the Queen Consort of the Warri Kingdom. How would you describe your responsibilities and the impact they have on your daily life?

So, imagine the role of a mother who has thousands of children. My responsibilities are multifaceted and carry great significance. I see myself as a representative and advocate for the women and children of our Kingdom. My daily life is intertwined with these responsibilities, and they shape my actions and decisions.

One of my primary responsibilities is to support and assist the King in his duties. This includes attending ceremonial events and participating in community engagement. also play a role in promoting unity and inclusivity, fostering positive relationships with other leaders and stakeholders. Furthermore, I am dedicated to uplifting the lives of our people

My father’s legacy has profoundly influenced my philanthropy and community engagement approach. He had an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others, which instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility and compassion for my community.

and championing social initiatives that bring progress and development to our people under the aegis of the parent organisation, which His Royal Majesty established, known as the Royal Iwere Foundation (RIF). These projects advocate and provide quality education and engaging mind-transforming and empowerment programmes that steadily impact our Kingdom. While the demands are significant, I find purpose and fulfilment in serving our people as support the King by contributing to the growth and prosperity of the Warri Kingdom. Your interest in social enterprise, education, and capacity building for women and children is commendable. Please tell us more about your initiatives in these areas and the impact you hope to achieve.

Thank you for your kind words. I am deeply passionate about social enterprise, education, and capacity building for women and children. In line with these interests, have initiated several impactful programmes and initiatives within the Warri Kingdom under the Royal Iwere Foundation (RIF). The RIF is the chief project of the Palace that seeks to transform the socioeconomic conditions of indigenes through formal and informal education, mentorship programmes, healthcare, funding, and training for upcoming and fresh entrepreneurs.

In education, I have established the first STEM centre in the Delta state that educates hundreds of children within the Kingdom and its environs. Across the communities, we have the Love Garden and Edu-playground project that teaches children how to grow and nurture some of the delicious foods they enjoy with their own hands in a fun and educative manner. To improve the quality of teachers within and outside the Kingdom, currently partner with CleverMinds Foundation and other institutions in holding the Teachers Training Programme (TTP) periodically.

I recently launched StoryTime with Mama Iwere, a reading club where read stories to the children in our community and teach them core values and soft skills such as communication, curiosity, and emotional intelligence. The aim is to encourage early literacy skills, freedom of expression, and critical thinking in young children and form a good moral foundation early on.

My passion for women’s empowerment led to the creation of the Royal Iwere Foundation Skills Institute (RIFSI), which aims to accelerate human capital development, empowering women and youth cooperatives with seed funding in communities and providing scholarships for indigent children.

I have championed financial empowerment drives in collaboration with financial institutions, such as Point of Sales (POS) training and distribution of POS machines. We also have the Warri Women’s Enterprise Fund programme designed to assist young business owners with funding for their enterprises. Wuwu Ore is our medical outreach that caters to the healthcare needs of communities within the Kingdom with qualitative medical services, with a particular focus on children, maternal care, and the overall well-being of the most vulnerable in our Kingdom.

Honestly, it’s a long list, but some of these initiatives are featured on my website and various platforms. I remain grateful to my husband for His immense support and the valued partnership of our local and international stakeholders.

The goal is to impact lives and steadily transform the Warri kingdom into a 21st-century destination via education, empowerment, and mind transformation. It is a tall task, but I am grateful to God that we are progressing.

Well, the best cakes have a secret recipe, and I’d like to keep our recipe a secret for now. However, I will say this: I am extremely blessed to have His Majesty as my husband and life partner. It is my life’s blessing to be his wife.

Your late father, Captain Hosa Okunbo, was a renowned philanthropist. How has his legacy influenced your approach to philanthropy and community engagement as a Queen?

My father’s legacy has profoundly influenced my philanthropy and community engagement approach. He had an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others, which instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility and compassion for my community. Despite his numerous accomplishments, he was humble and believed in human dignity irrespective of

culture, gender, or social status. He believed in a greater Nigeria and purposefully walked in this light to leave his world a better place for others. For me, it was an experience more caught than taught. My parents demonstrated that service to humanity could change the world for the best, and today, I continue to walk with that mindset and heart posture of service, generosity & impact.

How do you envision the role of women evolving within the traditional structures of the Warri Kingdom?

Women are integral to the growth and development of the Warri Kingdom and Nigeria at large. Here at home, women have continued to create immense value in their various leadership positions since time immemorial. I am deeply proud of the efforts of His Royal Majesty in driving more inclusivity for women in the Kingdom, and am convinced that as a nation looking to expand our economic horizon, it is crucial to prioritise women’s education and empowerment. By providing access to quality education and skills training, we can equip women with the tools they need to succeed and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Nigeria.

Community engagement and involvement are essential for effective leadership. How do you connect with the people of the Warri Kingdom and ensure their voices are heard and valued?

I visit communities as often as possible and enjoy listening to and interacting with my people. Each time I engage in community visits, either accompanying His Royal Majesty or alongside my team, it is essentially about their welfare. We go out to meet our people, community by community, with open ears to listen, and more importantly, welfare packages to restore hope and put smiles on their beautiful faces.

This is what royalty is truly about. Our people are our reason for our service, and so at all our functions within Aghofen (the Palace) or out there next to their homes, they can feel us and know their voices are heard.

Faith plays a significant role in many people’s lives. How does your personal faith in God intersect with the traditional rites and beliefs that come with your position as Queen?

As mentioned earlier, I am thoroughly grounded in my walk with God. My faith in Christ is the anchor that holds my entire being and existence in an incredible balance characterised by impact and service. I am blessed to be in this noble position of leadership. As Christ demonstrated to his disciples the lessons of humility by washing their feet, I approach my office as a call to servanthood, a servant leader who, like Esther in the scriptures, is aware of the high calling of God and dedicated to seeing His Kingdom established on earth.

My faith walk is an uncompromisable absolute. My identity is entrenched in who am in Christ Jesus and His purpose for me on earth, which drives my passion for seeing lives redeemed and their dignity restored in our Kingdom and worldwide.

How do you strike a balance between upholding traditional customs and

embracing progress and development in the Warri Kingdom?

As you would already know, the Warri Kingdom has a rich cultural heritage that dates back to the 15th century when the Kingdom’s influence spread across the region to the Gulf of Guinea. We also witnessed early trade relations with the Europeans, which have influenced several aspects of our culture and traditions to date, including the origination of our world-famous pidgin language. It is, therefore, important that we preserve and honour our cultural heritage. Remembering where we are coming from is significant to mapping out the future we desire, and because our world is ever evolving, we encourage innovation, education, and sustainable economic development that aligns with our values whilst also celebrating the rich tapestry of our enviable history.

We have always been a highly illustrious and hospitable kingdom, and this aspect of our culture engenders foreign collaborations that pave the way for the restorative growth and development we desire for our people. By fostering constructive dialogue and oneness within our Kingdom, we can identify growth opportunities while preserving our cultural identity. We are happy to embrace progress in a way that respects our traditions and ensures a prosperous future for the Warri Kingdom.

The special bond you share with His Majesty, the King, is evident to all who observe. Could you share some insights into your partnership and how you support each other in your respective roles?

Well, the best cakes have a secret recipe, and I’d like to keep our recipe a secret for now. However, I will say this: am extremely blessed to have His Majesty as my husband and life partner. It is my life’s blessing to be his wife.

Looking ahead, what are your aspirations for the Warri Kingdom, both in the immediate and long term?

Fostering sustainable development and improving the well-being of our people through various initiatives under the RIF and her partners. It’s a building phase, so am committed to supporting His Royal Majesty in laying the foundation for the growth and development we envision in the coming years.

I am presently working to improve my people’s access to quality education and human capital development, ensuring that every Itsekiri child, woman, and man has equal opportunities for growth and prosperity.

In the long run, it’s about establishing a legacy of peace, progress, and oneness. I am eager to witness the Warri Kingdom as a thriving 21st-century hub of innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development where the youth thrive, and gender equity is realised, paving the way for our Kingdom to attain its fullest potential as a force to reckon with both locally and internationally.

Though born with a silver spoon, our parents never failed to remind us of how hard they worked in life, teaching us to be grateful for the opportunities we had. My siblings and I were raised in discipline and nurtured to understand responsibility from a young age.

In popular culture, the term “IT” girl has long been associated with a mysterious allure, epitomising beauty, charm, and an undeniable sense of style. For decades, society has sought to define and anoint these iconic figures who captivate the collective imagination. However, with the advent of the internet and the subsequent rise of social media, the “IT” Girl concept has undergone a profound transformation.

Once upon a time, becoming an “IT” girl meant winning the approval of fashion editors and society’s elite. These tastemakers held the keys to fame and fortune, selectively anointing chosen few with the coveted title. Their decisions heavily influenced public opinion, dictating who was considered fashionable, glamorous, and worthy of admiration.

Then came the internet, which acted as a catalyst, blurring the lines between celebrities and ordinary individuals. Suddenly, The-Girl-Next-Door could become an overnight sensation with a viral post. The accessibility and interconnectedness of the online world also meant that new “IT girls” could emerge from all corners of the globe, bringing with them a diverse array of styles and perspectives previously overlooked by traditional media. With this, the power to define oneself and capture public attention shifted from the hands of an exclusive few to a broader audience. Any individual with a camera and an internet connection could create their own narrative, projecting their desired image to a global audience. And just like that, the “IT” girl archetype gained a new life. In this era, all an aspiring “IT” girl needed was the ability to capture the attention of photographers, and the blogs would take it from there. The internet became a breeding ground for self-expression and self-curation, where individuals could showcase their unique style and personality, bypassing traditional gatekeepers.

Then came Instagram, the platform that would forever change the landscape of fame and redefine the concept of the “IT girl.” With a camera in hand, these self-made sensations could chronicle their own lives, showcase their unique personalities, and engage directly with their audiences. The art of self-branding became paramount, and authenticity became the new currency of influence. Suddenly, individuals no longer needed intermediaries to chronicle their lives; they could do it in real-time. Instagram allowed for the cultivation of carefully curated personal brands, giving rise to a new generation of “IT” girls who could captivate audiences with their creativity, authenticity, and relatability. Gone were the days when society’s elite determined who had “It” and who did not. The power to decide rested in the hands of the masses, as users could now follow, engage with, and validate the influencers who resonated with their own aspirations and desires.

As the internet continues to evolve, so does our understanding of what it means to be an “IT” girl. The traditional standards of beauty and exclusivity have given way to a more inclusive and diverse definition. No longer are “IT” girls solely defined by their physical appearance. In today’s world, being an “IT girl” is no longer limited to conforming to rigid beauty standards or being a part of an elite social circle. Instead, it’s about having the audacity to be yourself, to be unapologetically authentic, and to connect with oth-

ers on a genuine level. The “IT girl” of the modern era is not only a style icon but also a trailblazer and an inspiration to those who look up to her. With this new definition, it becomes apparent that the IT Girl can be anyone – a fashion-forward student, a social media influencer, an unapologetic nerd, or a fierce entrepreneur. The modern “IT girl” defies categorisation, celebrating individuality and authenticity above all else. One thing is sure: the glory days of organically rising to prominence are long behind us – think Nike Osinowo winning the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Pageant in 1990 and becoming one of society’s most talked about socialites overnight. For this reason, some will argue that the IT girl no longer exists. Despite this, we believe the IT Girl is too fun a concept for us to leave behind. She still exists; it’s just up to you to determine who that is.

Embracing the Pink Palette

Barbiecore fashion is all about embracing the power of pink. From soft pastels to vibrant magentas, pink hues dominate the colour palette of this trend. Incorporate pink into your outfits through dresses, skirts, blouses, or even accessories like handbags, scarves, or sunglasses. Experiment with different shades of pink to find the one that complements your skin tone and makes you feel like a real-life Barbie.

Playful Prints and Patterns

Barbie’s world is filled with fun prints and patterns, and Barbiecore fashion lets you channel that

whimsical spirit. Opt for feminine prints like polka dots, florals, gingham, or even playful animal prints. Mix and match these patterns to create eye-catching ensembles that showcase your vibrant personality. Go bold with print-on-print combinations for a truly Barbie-inspired look.

Ruffles, Frills, and Flounces

To truly capture the essence of Barbiecore,

embrace the magic of ruffles, frills, and flounces. These romantic details add a touch of femininity and charm to any outfit. Look for dresses, blouses, or skirts adorned with cascading ruffles or delicate frills. When it comes to accessorizing, opt for shoes with bows, handbags with flouncy embellishments, or even hair accessories like bows and ribbons.

Nostalgic Silhouettes

Barbiecore fashion draws inspiration from the nostalgic silhouettes of the past, giving them a modern twist. Look for dresses with fitted bodices and flared skirts reminiscent of the iconic ‘50s and ‘60s fashion. High-waisted skirts or pants paired with cropped tops create a flattering hourglass shape that Barbie herself would approve of. Don’t forget to accentuate your waist with a slim belt to complete the retro-inspired look.

Sparkle and Shine

Barbie loves all things shiny and glamorous, and so should you when embracing Barbiecore fashion. Incorporate metallic accents, sequins, or glitter into your outfits to add a touch of sparkle. Whether it’s a sequined top, a metallic skirt, or even glittery accessories, these eyecatching elements will make you shine like a fashion-forward doll.

Accessorize with Confidence

No Barbie-inspired look is complete without the perfect accessories. Choose accessories that complement your outfit and enhance the Barbiecore aesthetic Pearl necklaces, oversized sunglasses, statement earrings, and retro-inspired handbags are all excellent choices. Remember, the key is to strike a balance between sophistication and playfulness to achieve that Barbiecore charm.
