Chavalit Soemprungsuk, the late National Artist, is well known for his abstract and non-objective work. He spent nearly 50 years living and working in the Netherlands. His artworks are outstanding, not limited to large paintings, sculptures, digital inkjet prints, and artwork created in many mediums, including designs. Soemprungsuk is widely recognized both within the country and abroad.
"In Amsterdam with Chavait Soemprungsuk," a book published in conjunction with the exhibition of the same name by the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture, Ministry of culture, takes the readers on a journey from Bangkok to Amsterdam to join in a discussion on various topics between Soemprungsuk and Wit Pimkanchanapong, the exhibition manager - including the story about life, relationships, attitudes towards art and his artwork. Before returning with the transfer of Soemprungsuk's studio from Amsterdam to the exhibition space of the Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art Center.
