Redefining Water in Hospitality

- BORG & OVERSTRÖM -

In hospitality, luxury is often defined by attention to detail. It is the quiet moments of consideration that leave lasting impressions, and increasingly, one of those moments comes through water. Not simply in its availability, but in how it is presented, accessed, and experienced. Borg & Overström are leading the way in rethinking this most basic of amenities, transforming hotel water service into a sophisticated, design led experience.

For decades, bottled water has been the default in hospitality, from hotel suites to reception areas. While practical, it rarely elevated the guest experience, and its environmental cost has become increasingly difficult to justify. Today’s guests demand more. They value convenience, aesthetics, and sustainability, and they notice when a hotel has considered their needs beyond the obvious. Borg & Overström are responding to these expectations with a new generation of drinking water solutions that combine performance, beauty, and responsibility.

At the heart of this transformation is the T3 4 in 1 drinking water tap. Designed and manufactured in the UK, the T3 delivers boiling, chilled, sparkling, and ambient filtered water at the touch of a button, all from an elegantly designed unit with a compact footprint. Rapid DryChill® technology, advanced filtration, and Totality® hygiene methodology ensure every glass is fresh, filtered, and perfectly served, whether it is an instant cup of tea in a guest suite or a chilled sparkling water in the lobby. With the sophisticated T3 boiling tap, Borg & Overström are proving that self service water can be both practical and luxurious, even in busy commercial environments.

The T3’s design is as considered as its performance. Its minimalist silhouette and refined finishes allow it to blend seamlessly into contemporary hotel interiors, whether positioned in breakfast bars, executive lounges, fitness suites, or luxury lobbies. By creating visually appealing refill points, hotels encourage guests to interact with the space in thoughtful ways, fostering moments of refreshment and relaxation. Hotels can further elevate this experience with branded bottles and drinking vessels for guests to take with them, extending the brand experience beyond the stay. Statement, refillable bottles are increasingly seen as a mark of the well travelled, reflecting personal values, destinations visited, and a commitment to sustainability.

Borg & Overström’s influence can already be seen in leading hotel groups worldwide, including Grecotel Resorts, Hilton Hotels & Resorts, Westin Hotels & Resorts, Marriott Bonvoy, and The Ritz. Borg & Overström taps and dispensers help these brands offer guests an elevated water experience while demonstrating their commitment to sustainable, design conscious hospitality. These high profile implementations illustrate that luxury and responsibility are no longer opposing priorities, but complementary elements of modern hotel design.

Beyond aesthetics and guest experience, the T3 delivers tangible operational and environmental benefits. The true cost of bottled water in the hospitality industry is considerable: every single bottle must be ordered, delivered, stored, refrigerated, and replenished. This is before accounting for the single use waste of plastic, glass, and aluminium, much of which ends up in landfill or polluting the very beaches and destinations that guests travel to enjoy.

Introducing T3 refill points can significantly reduce costs, minimise waste, and achieve substantial savings in energy, time, and labour. A single T3 can prevent around 35,000 plastic bottles from entering the waste stream, while its intelligent energy saving technology can reduce energy running costs by up to 70%. When implemented across an entire hotel or a hotel group, the cumulative environmental and financial impact is significant.

By leading this shift, Borg & Overström are not just providing water; they are redefining how hotels think about hydration, sustainability, and design. Selecting a T3 tap is a subtle yet powerful statement: it allows hotels to deliver a modern, luxurious, and responsible drinking experience where form and function flow together seamlessly.

In an industry where differentiation increasingly depends on attention to detail, Borg & Overström demonstrate that even a glass of water can communicate brand values, design sensibility, and care for the environment. Through beautiful, functional, and sustainable taps and refill points, they are setting a new standard for hospitality worldwide, showing that luxury today is measured not only in comfort, but in the thoughtfulness behind every guest touchpoint, even the humble glass of water.

Portuguese Craft. Global Perspective.

Built for Designers Who Refuse Compromise.

- SENTTA -

In hospitality, the smallest decisions often carry the greatest risk.

A chair is specified. A supplier is selected. A lead time is promised. Months later, when guests are arriving and spaces are photographed, there is no room for error. No tolerance for discomfort. No forgiveness for delays.

For procurement teams and design professionals, excellence is not optional — it is expected, quietly and consistently.

This is why Sentta exists.

Not simply to manufacture seating. But to remove uncertainty from the process of creating remarkable spaces.

Founded in Portugal and now delivering all over the world, Sentta was built on a belief that design should never come at the expense of reliability — and reliability should never diminish design.

Because in hospitality, both must coexist.

Why Craft Still Matters

Portugal has long been recognised for its woodworking heritage. At Sentta, this tradition is not romanticised — it is refined.

Every piece begins with solid ash wood, selected not just for its natural beauty, but for its structural integrity. Wood is shaped, assembled, and finished by skilled artisans who understand that hospitality seating must endure years of use without losing its presence.

That means fewer replacements. Fewer complaints. Fewer surprises.

Behind the aesthetic sits engineering designed for performance — ensuring comfort that lasts, finishes that age gracefully, and materials that meet the rigorous demands of commercial environments.

The goal is simple: create seating that performs as beautifully as it presents.

Designed for Spaces That Carry Reputation

Sentta collaborates with internationally recognised designers rather than relying on a single in house identity. The result is a portfolio that feels diverse in character, yet consistent in build — collections that are distinctive without becoming unpredictable.

The Essex Collection, designed by Javier Gomez, captures this philosophy with quiet confidence. Sculptural proportions and refined materiality make it suited to environments where design is part of the brand promise — from five star hotels and destination restaurants to private members’ clubs and premium corporate hospitality.

The collection spans key seating categories required across hospitality projects, including dining chairs, armchairs, lounge chairs, bar stools, counter stools, as well as statement pieces such as a sofa and daybed. This allows a coherent design language to flow from lobby to lounge, restaurant to bar, without sacrificing variation.

For teams managing multi area specifications, that cohesion reduces complexity — fewer compromises between zones and a clearer route from concept to completion.

Built for Real-World Hospitality

Craftsmanship, however, only matters if it can be delivered with consistency.

Sentta’s seating has been specified for projects including Hotel Indigo, The Grand Brighton, The Coal Shed, major UK transport hubs such as Heathrow and Liverpool John Lennon Airport, and globally recognised destinations including Disney Adventure — environments where durability, compliance and aesthetic integrity must coexist under constant public use.

These are spaces that do not tolerate failure.

The brand’s commitment to excellence has also been recognised by respected industry platforms, including the HD Awards and Big See Awards, alongside consistent presence in leading international design publications and global showcases such as Salone del Mobile, Maison & Objet, Decorex and BDNY.

Recognition, however, is never the objective. Consistency is.

Sustainability with Accountability

Today’s hospitality sector carries increasing environmental responsibility. Decisions are evaluated not only for cost and design, but for ethical and environmental impact.

Sentta integrates certified quality and environmental management systems, responsible sourcing practices, and internationally recognised compliance frameworks into its operations. Sustainability is not a marketing layer — it is embedded into how the company builds.

For projects operating under ESG scrutiny, this provides measurable reassurance without compromising performance.

A Partner, Not Just a Supplier

Hospitality projects evolve. They demand clarity, responsiveness, and alignment with design intent.

Sentta approaches every collaboration as a partnership — supporting creative ambition while understanding the commercial realities behind specification decisions.

In an industry where reputation is built through details, seating is never a small choice.

It shapes first impressions. It supports comfort. It reflects brand identity. And when chosen well, it simply works — quietly and confidently.

Amanda Oldfield: From Field to Five–Star Sleep — How an Inspirational Leader Is Redefining British Hospitality Comfort

- WROUGHT IRON AND BRASS BED CO -

When Made in Britain announced Amanda Oldfield as the Winner of the 2025 Inspirational Leader of the Year Award, the hospitality world took notice — and for good reason. As founder of Wrought Iron & Brass Bed Co., Amanda has not only revived a near lost British craft but reshaped what premium sleep can mean for boutique hotels, luxury inns, and interior designers seeking authenticity and excellence.

Her win is more than an individual accolade: it signals a shift in how the industry thinks about provenance, craftsmanship, and the value of true British made sleep experiences.

A Leader Rewriting the Rules of Craft and Comfort

Amanda co founded Wrought Iron & Brass Bed Co. at 45 — an age when most entrepreneurs are told they’re “too late.” Today, at 67, she leads a team that builds some of Britain’s most meticulously crafted metal beds and hand made mattresses, proving that leadership grounded in dignity, transparency, and courage has no age limit.

Her philosophy is simple: “If you make something, know where every part of it comes from” — and honour the people behind it.

That ethos led her to take the unusual step of becoming a shepherdess herself, forging direct partnerships with British farmers and sourcing wool fleece “one farm at a time.”

This isn’t storytelling — it’s traceability that can be verified, from the field to the workshop to the guestroom.

Why Her Win Matters to the Hospitality Sector

In an era defined by guest expectations for transparency, wellbeing, and sustainability, Amanda’s leadership aligns seamlessly with the needs of boutique hotels and luxury accommodation providers. Her award validates a model that blends craft integrity, regenerative supply chains, and multi generational skill — the same values today’s travellers look for in the places they choose to stay.

Where some brands make sustainability claims, Amanda’s work makes them tangible.

Award-Winning Beds & Mattresses Built for Exceptional Guest Experience

Boutique hotels increasingly differentiate themselves not by how their rooms look but by how their rooms feel — and sleep now sits at the heart of that competitive landscape. As outlined in the brand’s hospitality guidance, the bed becomes the “silent ambassador” of the room, shaping every guest review, return booking, and brand impression.

Amanda’s leadership is directly reflected in the products her team creates:

1. Traceable, Single Farm, British Wool Mattresses

Each mattress is filled with fleece from one named British farm — an unprecedented level of provenance that gives boutique hotels a unique storytelling touchpoint. This isn’t wool blended through bulk supply chains. It’s traceable, pure, and ethically sourced.

2. Naturally Better for Guests

Guests benefit not just from authenticity, but from superior sleep science:

• Thermoregulation and moisture control

• Natural buoyancy and pressure relief

Hypoallergenic, dust mite resistant properties

• Fire safety without harsh chemical treatments

This translates into better reviews, fewer complaints, and longer lasting mattresses.

3. Craftsmanship That Reduces Replacement Cycles

Hand side stitching, British made materials, and an ethos of longevity mean every mattress is built to endure high occupancy. Many models come with guarantees of up to 30 years. For hoteliers focused on lifecycle cost, this is a compelling economic advantage.

4. Design Led Iron & Brass Beds Made in Britain

Wrought Iron & Brass Bed Co. also offers a collection of handcrafted iron and brass frames that bring understated luxury into hospitality spaces. Built in their Norfolk workshop, each bed is designed to withstand commercial turnover without compromising aesthetics. These are not mass produced imports — they’re future heirlooms with quiet, timeless beauty.

A Leader with Impact That Extends Beyond the Business

Amanda’s award also recognises her wider contribution to community and sustainability.

Her Wool for Welfare initiative turns British wool into a force for social good, supporting local children living in poverty by repurposing fleece for horticultural use.

For hospitality brands seeking meaningful ESG alignment, her approach offers an authentic model: sustainability that is practical, local, and human centred.

The

Opportunity for Designers & Hotels

For interior designers, boutique hotels, and premium B&Bs, Amanda’s win is more than industry news — it’s an invitation.

Choosing an award winning British manufacturer isn’t simply about specifying a bed or mattress. It’s about elevating the guest experience through:

• A verified provenance story guests love to share Superior natural sleep performance

• Design continuity and comfort consistency across properties

Stronger sustainability credentials

Products built to last decades, not seasons

And most importantly, it’s about aligning your project with the leadership and values recognised at the highest national level.

“Guests Remember How They Slept” — Amanda’s Legacy in Hospitality

In an era where hospitality differentiation is harder than ever, Amanda Oldfield has given the industry something uniquely powerful: the chance to offer guests a night’s sleep grounded in British craft, regenerative farming, and real integrity.

Hotels that build this into their rooms don’t just create beautiful spaces — they create unforgettable nights.

Urban Golf Reimagined

- MULLIGAN -

The Mulligan Golf Bar project represents a new approach to urban golf – a place where architecture, technology, and atmosphere work together as one. Designed by the architects of 20–20–ARCHITEKTI, the 130 m² space in Smíchov City is conceived as a reinterpretation of an outdoor sport within an urban interior.

The architectural concept draws inspiration from the Scottish Highlands, the cradle of golf. The architects’ goal was not to create a thematic decoration but to materialize a landscape – to translate its form, structure, and mood into an interior. The ceiling installation, reminiscent of a heather field, transforms the space into an abstract piece of nature. It ripples above the players’ heads like a living relief, creating a dynamic play of colour, light, and shadow. Below it unfolds a composition of tiered flooring with five freely placed “stones” – handcrafted wooden artifacts that connect the landscape motif with the world of design. Concrete, wood, and deep shades of green

form the material palette that emphasizes the raw poetry of the design. The composition is restrained, allowing the architecture to serve as a backdrop for movement, light, play, and social interaction.

The layout is designed with clarity and smooth flow in mind. From the entrance bar and reception, the space transitions into a calm zone and then to a pair of TrackMan IO simulators, which form the technological core of the project – combining precise training data with fast mini games or full 18 hole rounds, even on legendary courses like St Andrews. Mulligan brings to central Prague the first truly hospitality led indoor golf experience without compromise – with a real club, real ball, and the authentic feeling of play. Players hit into a soft projection screen while radar and camera technology track every detail of the swing, instantly displaying the ball’s flight and trajectory. Beginners appreciate the instant feedback and friendly atmosphere; groups enjoy the fun and competition; advanced players value the detailed statistics and leaderboards – each at their own pace and style.

This concept, which has gained massive popularity in South Korea and is rapidly expanding across the USA and European cities, introduces golf to a new audience while giving experienced players the chance

to stay in the game at any time of day. Mulligan is the exclusive partner of Albatross Golf Resort, host of the European Tour tournaments, bringing its sporting precision and culture of the game to Prague.

Also noteworthy is the café and bar area, offering specialty coffee, original cocktails, and a whisky program inspired by Scottish tradition. This is not a mere accessory but an integral part of the overall atmosphere – a space equally suited for focused practice as for an evening conversation at the bar.

The name Mulligan, meaning “a second chance” in golf, takes on a symbolic dimension here – an invitation for both seasoned players and those eager to try something new.

UK Hospitality Tech Suppliers Experience Growth Amidst a Period of Economic Uncertainty for the Sector

- UK HOSPITALITY -

Growth in the hospitality technology sector in 2025 suggests that operators are increasingly investing in automation in the kitchen. Hospitality leaders are seeking ways to create efficiencies to counter the impact of higher business rates and increased National Insurance contributions and wages.

Telemetry is one business in the hospitality tech space that has seen substantial growth in the last 12 months. Telemetry now provides real time monitoring of kitchen equipment to 350 McDonald’s restaurants across the UK, marking a 20% increase on 2024.

Despite wider challenges in the hospitality sector, businesses like Telemetry are benefitting as operators seek to reduce reliance on manual processes and limit the operational risk associated with equipment failure.

Piers Skinner, founder of Telemetry, said: “Across the McDonald’s restaurants and kitchen machinery that we monitor, our technology typically flags around 1900 alerts each month. While not all of these are major concerns or revenue threatening, the visibility allows operators to carefully monitor any immediate risk to product quality and the ability to operate. In simple terms, our technology spots issues that wouldn’t otherwise be identifiable until a total machine breakdown or a customer complaint, which ultimately result in lost revenue.

“In a time where profit margins are already squeezed to an unsustainable level, even the smallest dip in revenue can be problematic. While we’re not seeing a return to discretionary spend, operators are still prepared to invest in solutions that can demonstrably protect revenue or remove avoidable costs.”

As well as reducing risk of equipment failure, technology is also being deployed to maximise the return on labour investment. Manual equipment

checks currently cost around 20 pence per minute at the minimum wage. In comparison, a monitoring system working 24/7 that costs less than the equivalent of 10 minutes of an employee’s time can offer a major cost and time saving.

Piers continued, “This is not about removing people from kitchens. Franchisees are continually looking for technology that allows teams to focus on service and jobs where they add the most value, rather than spending time completing manual checks. Keeping things simple significantly improves efficiency, and with the increase in labour costs, we’ve now reached a point where automation is a necessity, not a luxury.”

Piers concluded: “The next stage for hospitality technology is deploying data to predict potential issues ahead of time. We’re currently developing an AI led analytics programme to surface trends that are difficult to identify manually. Taking that shift from reactive to proactive operations will define how kitchens are run over the coming years.”

Sofitel Bucharest: Contemporary French Luxury Within a Historic

Neo‑Classical Setting

- RAN & MORRIS -

Ran & Morris Creative Partnership blend historic and cultural influences to weave a unique story for Sofitel Bucharest.

Ran & Morris Creative Partnership, a globally recognized, award winning interior design practice, proudly unveils its transformative design of Sofitel Bucharest, a restoration of the Oscar Maugsch Palace into a branded luxury hotel in the heart of the city’s historic University Square.

The five star hotel features 157 guest rooms across four floors, as well as an atmospheric lobby, two restaurants, a dynamic event hall, and a spa.

The foundations of the story

Embracing Sofitel’s mantra of l’Art de Vivre, Ran & Morris focused on developing a design proposal to position the luxury hotel as an expression of French luxury viewed through the unique historical lens of Bucharest.

“Design has a relationship with the path of history, and it is from a convergence of historical elements that we built the narrative for this prominent Bucharest building,” says Ran Yanuv. “Most of our projects begin that way, and it is only once that narrative has been written that the design process truly begins.”

In a vibrant capital city defined by a mix of Soviet era architecture and numerous historic and cultural sites, Bucharest was once known as ‘Micul Paris’, or ‘Little Paris’, for its early French architectural, cultural, and social influences. Harnessing those core narratives, while remaining focused on the refined French luxury exuded by the Sofitel brand, Ran & Morris applied their renowned ‘story catching’ methodology to selecting design elements from multiple layers of influence.

“We consider ourselves to be story catchers in interior design, and we approach projects like archeologists revealing the details,” explains Morris Algazi. “We dig deep to find the authentic story of the culture

and everything that once thrived in a building, a neighbourhood, and a city.”

Unifying their vision

With a mandate won for a proposal selected from design studios from around the world, Ran & Morris began the process of unifying two adjacent buildings into a singular vision. In collaboration with Cumulus, a leading Romanian architectural firm, they laid out plans to join two buildings, the first built in the late nineteen century, and the second as an extension

in the early twentieth century. With both buildings designed by the same architect, there were many consistencies in the structural lines of the two three storey buildings, which greatly facilitated that process.

“It felt as if someone had the intention of fusing the buildings from the start,” notes Ran Yanuv. “With that original intention, it became more of a process of creating links, rather than breaking down barriers.”

A rear servicing courtyard quickly emerged as the logical entranceway for the new hotel, and a passageway between the two buildings was enclosed under a spectacular 14 meter high skylight. Under the skylight, a formidable lobby was envisioned by the architect, with Ran & Morris contributing design insight to help accentuate the verticality of the space, while retaining many of the structure’s original architectural features. A fourth level was also added to both of the buildings to accommodate newly designed spaces.

The history of the two buildings includes their transformation from an elite residence into a bank, and Ran & Morris saw an opportunity to transform a former exhibition space designed for the latter into a dynamic, multipurpose ballroom.

“We suggested something that could be developed not only for use as a typical ballroom, but also as a dynamic space for fashion shows, concerts, and much more,” explains Morris Algazi. “By integrating adjustable lighting and enabling layout transitions, we facilitated atmospheric changes that make it an ideal space for multiple types of events.”

As a finishing touch, Ran & Morris incorporated an exterior patio into the interior design, enclosing it to create an extension to the hotel’s main restaurant.

Materialistic storytelling

With the interior spaces of the Sofitel Bucharest mapped out, Ran & Morris shifted their focus to considerations of what could be restored, and what new elements could be introduced.

“The concept of hospitality is evolving around the world, and we discussed that evolution with Sofitel when approaching the lobby design,” says Morris Algazi. “Lobbies have traditionally been spaces where people typically sit and wait, but we proposed something far more dynamic that would attract people through its core functions.”

With a green light from Sofitel, they infused the lobby with elements meant to create an atmosphere akin to a stroll down a Paris street, with a traditional French style café, comfortable seating, and a vibe that feels like being part of a neighbourhood. Distinctive kinetic lighting fixtures were integrated into the expansive lobby ceiling, contributing to the spatial and experiential quality of the space.

They then extended their storytelling to material choices, finding ways to masterfully blend historic, cultural, and luxury influences. Soft curves, sculptural silhouettes, and warm classical tones embrace preserved classical façades and ornamental stonework. Culturally rooted interiors are infused with the polish of contemporary luxury and French elegance through the application of tactile materials, delicate lighting, and a palette inspired by limestone, brushed brass, and the muted shadows of the city.

“The idea of Bucharest once being known as ‘Little Paris’ was a central theme that guided all aspects of this project,” says Ran Yanuv. “It became our core vision, and the story that we focused on telling from the very beginning.”

Modern interpretations of neo classical motifs wrap around a selection of bespoke Parisian furnishings, dressed in textiles inspired by Romanian culture, and brought to life through strategic applications of lighting and textures.

Luxurious accommodations steeped in a rich storyline

With the history of the buildings encapsulating both residential and commercial functions, many of the original room layouts were retained as guest rooms marked by varying dimensions and unique shapes. In keeping with a French luxury brand being implemented within a Romanian city, Ran & Morris had to make a series of decisions as to which cultural elements would be included and highlighted in a balance that captured both essences.

In approaching the room design, the process was like conducting a workshop, including deep dives into core elements of Romanian culture that could be incorporated into the familiar five star luxury that Sofitel is known for. From fabrics, to artwork, French design dominates the guest rooms, with Romanian culture captured through the inclusion of beautiful artistic headboards designed by local carpenters.

The spacious guest rooms feature vaulted ceilings nearly 4 meters high, with marble flooring in some, and parquet flooring in others. Embraced in the elegant design, French furniture provides luxurious comfort, selected in collaboration with Sofitel’s network of suppliers.

A storybook ending

With Sofitel Bucharest, the story catching approach of Ran & Morris Creative Partnership has generated a remarkable transformation. Two heritage buildings have been reinterpreted in a unified new narrative, yet each has maintained its own architectural personality and cultural roots within a respectful, yet innovative design response.

Hospitality Design Specialists Bring Caribbean Soul Back to Award‑winning Restaurant Brand

- JONES AD -

Hospitality design specialists Jones AD have completed a project to redesign, refurbish and rebrand a leading casual dining bar and restaurant.

The new look for Turtle Bay Chelmsford brings a more relaxed feel to the restaurant, inspired by easy going Caribbean beach life. Bright primary colours and industrial details have been replaced by warm corals and soft turquoise, layered textures and fabrics, and the glow of carefully considered lighting.

Jones AD Creative Director Abi Perry Jones worked closely with the Turtle Bay team to develop the new interior, with everything from floorplan and layout to colour palette and choice of finish designed to support the operator’s strategic plan. The busy central island has been replaced by a new seating area and a sleek, stylish bar running along one side of the space clad in beautiful textured tiles in shades of blue and finished with a terrazzo top. A gleaming coffee machine features for the first time, with

baristas serving up great coffee and complimentary ginger cake as part of the new all day offering. Guests can also enjoy a drink or a bite to eat at the bar, sitting in comfort on elegant swivel base stools upholstered in faux leather and a bespoke floral fabric.

The same fabric features on new awnings over the sunny outside terrace and in the fixed seating which runs around the centre of the restaurant, bringing a touch of soft Caribbean colour whatever the weather. Chairs upholstered in chalky blue, soft blush pink and pale leaf green sit alongside timber topped tables, complementing the rattan and rope weave armchairs used elsewhere. This central area is covered by a bespoke timber pergola a nod to the laidback beach bar inspiration, it provides a focal point for the restaurant and brings a more intimate atmosphere, inviting guests to settle in and relax over great food and drinks from the new menu. Rattan lampshades and lush greenery further soften the space and draw the eye towards the new open kitchen to the rear, clad in the same leaf patterned tiles as used for the bar, this time in shades of coral and warm pink. Textures, colours and design details add interest throughout, from soft sunset tones in wall art and quirky accessories and books dotted on shelves to the sustainably produced TreeAzzo used to top side tables in style.

The interior was zoned to support different guest experiences in line with Turtle Bay’s strategy to reposition the brand to deliver all day dining and drinking with a warm, welcoming, relaxing and engaging atmosphere. A lounge zone features rattan sofas upholstered in shades of soft pink and green, with statement hanging seats which are sure to become a coveted spot to enjoy cocktails or coffees, while a side section provides additional seating underneath a slatted timber roof, with twinkling lights reflected in a patterned mirror which runs the full length of one wall. Together with the central pergola and bar seating, these layered zones give guests a range of seating options and allow for streamlined service from an operational perspective.

Abi Perry-Jones, Creative Director of Jones AD, commented “We have absolutely loved working on this project, from developing the initial concept through to adding the finishing touches. It can be challenging to depart from a distinctive brand identity but we think the new look remains unmistakably Turtle Bay at once accessible and aspirational, it brings the best of Caribbean beach life to a buzzy town centre spot. The sun bleached palette and natural materials were key to the design and lend themselves perfectly to the relaxed, convivial ambience we wanted to achieve. It’s been great to see how much guests love the new look and enjoyed being able to visit Turtle Bay throughout the day. We’re looking forward to continuing to work with Ajith and team on future projects.”

Moonkiz Café: A Journey into Korean Culture Through WOW Design Ceramic tiles

- WOW DESIGN -

Moonkiz Café is conceived as a small narrative universe in which the everyday ritual of coffee is transformed into a slow, mindful spatial experience. Inspired by Korean aesthetics, the project proposes a way of inhabiting space based on rhythm, repetition and attention to detail, translating these values into an architecture designed to be explored and lived.

Within the café, WOW Design ceramics are integrated as a structural element of the interior design, establishing a serene material base upon which the entire project is articulated. Rather than acting as a decorative layer, ceramics become the architectural thread of the space, organising circulation and allowing graphic identity, colour and lighting to coexist without visual tension.

Korean culture, materiality and spatial balance

The project adopts a contemporary reading of Korean culture, understood not as a literal reference but as a spatial attitude. Calmness, precision and balance are expressed through an architecture of clean lines and soft geometries, set in dialogue with an expressive graphic identity that introduces colour, characters and subtle references to Korean urban and pop culture.

Designed by ARK4LAB, Moonkiz Café is organised as a fluid and accessible space capable of accommodating different modes of use. More intimate areas coexist with open zones conceived for social interaction, connected by continuous pathways and a carefully controlled atmosphere that supports the experience without imposing it.

Ceramics as the project’s silent foundation

In this context, WOW Design’s Halo collection plays a key role. Inspired by natural stone and by the chromatic variations of light throughout the day, Halo unfolds to create a continuous surface that connects the different areas of the café and naturally accompanies the user’s movement. Its small format and modular logic introduce rhythm and depth, reinforcing the human scale of the space with discretion.

The continuity of the flooring towards the exterior blurs the boundary between interior and city, reinforcing the café’s open character and consolidating it as a small everyday stage integrated into its urban surroundings. Ceramics support this transition seamlessly, underlining the project’s material coherence.

A gastronomic, cultural and emotional space

Located in Thessaloniki, Moonkiz Café brings this cultural imaginary into the city’s urban scene without

the need for explicit explanations. The setting acts as a backdrop, while the project asserts itself through its own identity and spatial language.

The proposal is completed by a gastronomic offering inspired by Korean coffee culture, featuring traditional drinks and desserts presented through a minimalist language consistent with the space. The integration of technological systems for lighting, climate control and comfort further enhances the overall experience.

Moonkiz Café thus stands as an example of how contemporary interior design can construct atmosphere, identity and emotion through materiality and ceramics. A project in which small format ceramic tiles become an essential architectural tool for shaping an experiential, balanced and long lasting space.

Aster by Joshua Paris

- ROOMOO DESIGN STUDIO -

Aster, led by chef Joshua Paris, is a new dining destination inspired by its namesake flower, the aster, which also means “star.” The restaurant’s design translates the flower’s natural structure—a central disc surrounded by radiating petals—into a spatial experience. Guests gather at the heart of the flower, dining beneath a constellation of light.

About Chef Joshua Paris

British born chef Joshua Paris brings 19 years of global culinary experience to Aster. His career spans New Zealand, the UK, Australia, and China, including collaborations with Richard Ekkebus at 58° Grill in Shanghai and contributions to the opening of Park Hyatt Shenzhen. A formative period working under Paul Pairet at the legendary UV instilled in him a philosophy of discipline, precision, and relentless refinement. His culinary credo is simple: question everything and refine each dish until it cannot be improved further.

Disc

The experience begins at the floral heart: a circular bar and a wraparound dining counter at the open kitchen form a unified stage. This central core allows for continuous 360 degree service. Diners at the counter are within arm’s reach of the culinary action, engaging directly with the chefs. A soft halo of light along the bar’s base echoes the overhead installation, creating an immersive glow. Tactile, hand modeled clay finishes on the bar and counters evoke stratified rock, grounding the space in craft.

Radiation of Petals

Overhead, the “crown” comprises 39 modular frames arranged in a gentle spiral, each holding a translucent violet petal made from recycled xuan paper. At night, perimeter lighting grazes the petals’ edges, transforming the ceiling into a drifting nebula. The system is designed for sustainability, with petals that can be re dyed and frames that are reusable.

Duplication of Flowers

Along the windows, layered pendant lights continue the floral theme. Aligned with structural beams, they turn architecture into poetry, with subtle variations in height making each one unique. Beneath this decorative layer, precise downlights ensure optimal illumination for every table.

Root

The material palette of oak, stone, and concrete converges like a calyx cradling a bloom. A herringbone oak floor radiates outward from the bar, recalling roots in the soil. Rounded timber and stone edges ensure comfort, while hand modeled clay reliefs at touch points add a crafted, tactile quality. The space feels rooted: with roots beneath, the calyx at your side, and the flower overhead.

Constellation | VIP

A secluded mezzanine lounge, clad in walnut and velvet, offers a shifted geometry that creates intrigue. A mirrored antique bronze canopy, etched with abstract floral motifs, expands the sense of space, forming a quiet, elevated “sky.” In the private dining room, a stardust installation of smoky violet petals hangs in loose constellations above the table. Set against a dark textile backdrop, the focus returns to food and conversation, with velvet and woven fabrics ensuring a soft, warm, and intimate atmosphere.

From Bank to Bustling Bistro: A Full‑Service Fit‑ Out for Alora Restaurant

- CONTRACT FURNITURE GROUP -

Housed within a former bank building, Alora brings globally inspired tapas to Mapperley High Street, presenting a unique opportunity to transform a characterful space into a warm yet contemporary hospitality destination. Contract Furniture Group was appointed to deliver a complete restaurant fit out, building on an established relationship with the client following several successful projects across Nottinghamshire.

Working closely with the client and design team, Contract Furniture Group provided a turnkey solution covering layout development, bespoke joinery, fixed seating, loose furniture, soft furnishings and outdoor furniture. Early in the project, a key design challenge emerged: the original layout placed an open kitchen centrally, but low ceiling heights limited its viability. By reworking the plan and relocating the kitchen, the team improved circulation, enhanced sightlines and increased capacity to 76 covers, while creating space for a more prominent bar and clearly defined dining zones.

The bar became the focal point of the interior. Designed and manufactured by Contract Furniture Group, the curved structure features a black marble top with gold detailing and a slatted timber frontage, blending rustic texture with modern elegance. Bespoke back bar cabinetry was integrated to support service efficiency while reinforcing the overall aesthetic.

Across the venue, carefully specified loose furniture helps define each area while maintaining a cohesive look. Upholstered bar stools, side chairs and marble tabletops introduce comfort and durability, while bespoke fabrics, leathers and finishes echo the venue’s confident colour palette. In the main dining areas, fixed banquette seating maximises capacity and comfort, with deep fluted upholstery, rolled tops and integrated power points demonstrating how practical requirements can be seamlessly built into design led solutions.

Contract Furniture Group also delivered soft furnishings and outdoor furniture, ensuring continuity from interior to exterior. Durable materials were selected throughout to meet the demands of a busy hospitality environment without compromising on visual impact.

The completed fit out has helped Alora evolve beyond a dining led venue into a lively social destination for both cocktails and food. Awarded two AA Rosettes since opening, the restaurant stands as a strong example of how considered contract furniture and full fit out services can upgrade the overall hospitality experience.

The Art of Timeless Design by Ton

Since 1861, the factory in the small Czech town of Bystřice pod Hostýnem has mastered the art of creating bentwood furniture, combining tradition, precision and innovation. The craftsmen of the factory transform wood into extraordinary works of art – pieces that seamlessly combine timeless elegance with modern functionality.

The choice of Bystřice pod Hostýnem as a company’s home is no coincidence. This region provides access to high quality, locally sourced beech and oak – essential materials for Ton’s furniture. By using sustainably harvested wood from nearby sources, Ton ensures that its products are not only beautiful, but also environmentally responsible.

Every chair, table or bench crafted by Ton carries the legacy of 160 years of craftsmanship. The company’s secret lies in its unique steam bending technique, which makes it the oldest hand bending factory in the world. Here, the finest wood

is transformed by skilled craftsmen into graceful, durable forms that are as practical as they are beautiful. It’s this commitment to heritage and quality that makes it a name cherished by clients.

The Ton catalogue includes some of the most iconic pieces in furniture history. The legendary No. 14 Chair, originally designed in the 1850s, remains a timeless favourite, celebrated for its minimalist elegance and incredible durability. Equally captivating are modern designs such as the Split Chair, the only chair in the world to feature a unique split-back design carved from a single piece of bentwood, showcasing the mastery of Ton’s craftsmen. The Merano Chair, with its distinctive geometric lines and combination of bentwood and upholstery, has become a contemporary icon, ideal for both the home and high-traffic commercial environments. Another standout is the P.O.V. collection, which offers sleek, versatile furniture tailored for the modern public place, with a perfect balance of style, comfort and functionality.

Company’s attention to detail extends beyond form to its thoughtful approach to colour and materials. The fabrics and colours used in company’s products reflect the essence of the brand – timeless yet deeply rooted in its environment. The colour concept is directly inspired by the colours that embody the spirit of Ton’s production process: a deep blue reminiscent of the workers‘ uniforms, a warm brick red

that echoes the architecture of the old factory buildings, and a vibrant green and yellow drawn from the surrounding nature. These thoughtful choices ensure that every Ton piece not only enhances its surroundings, but also tells a story of its origins.

Ton is more than a furniture brand – it is a trusted partner in creating memorable hospitality spaces. From boutique hotels to stylish restaurants and cosy cafes, Ton’s pieces bring character, elegance and functionality to any environment. With over 160 years of heritage and a commitment to sustainable craftsmanship, the company offers hospitality professionals timeless designs that not only enhance interiors, but leave a lasting impression on guests. Choosing Ton means investing in furniture that will stand the test of time – both in quality and design – ensuring the space tells a story of sophistication and care.

Rediscover the Future of Flooring: Karta at Clerkenwell

Design Week 2026

“Resilient flooring” has long been dominated by plastics and petrochemical compounds, materials that are carbon intensive to manufacture and complex to recover at end of life. Millions of square metres of these products are specified across commercial sectors each year, ever increasing the environmental burden on the planet.

Karta was developed to rewrite the narrative around commercial flooring. Founded within Ted Todd Group, and drawing on the wood flooring family’s three decades of industry leading material knowledge, the brand applies timber intelligence to modern innovation. Karta delivers a resilient surface engineered from circular materials, designed for contemporary commercial spaces, and built to perform without plastic.

Now entering its second year at Clerkenwell Design Week, Karta returns with strengthened momentum and revolutionary new developments. Following global recognition at the SBID International Design Awards 2025, attention turns firmly to what comes next: advancing circular specification, refining performance standards, and supporting architects and designers seeking credible alternatives to vinyl led solutions.

Every floor in Karta’s Recycled Leather Series diverts post industrial leather offcuts from landfill, re

-

engineering them into a stable, durable core. A PEFC certified wood fibre layer maximises timber yield from sawmill by products, while a cork backing, harvested without felling a single tree, delivers acoustic comfort and removes the need for separate underlay.

Surface design is informed by a thirty year archive of real timber. Using patented super HD print technology, each plank captures authentic tone and grain variation with no recolours and no repeats within 20 boards. A plastic free Karta Plated® topcoat achieves AC5 durability, supporting use across high traffic commercial environments as well as residential settings.

At Clerkenwell Design Week 2026, Karta will once again showcase the union of sustainability, specification confidence, and design intent in their 18 tone Recycled Leather Series – a re engineered approach to resilient flooring grounded in heritage expertise and built for future standards.

Beautifully Simple

- AMTICO FLOORING -

In commercial interiors, the mood has shifted. Recent years have pushed designers to think less in fixed palettes and more in lived experience – spaces that feel calmer, work harder, and flex with the way people move, gather and spend their time.

Since the launch of Amtico’s Spacia luxury vinyl tile (LVT) collection 21 years ago, the way commercial spaces are designed and used has changed significantly. Amtico’s Spacia has evolved with that reality in mind. Rather than treating the update as a trend reset, the design team reviewed Spacia through the lens of how projects are being specified today across key commercial sectors, including build to rent, workplace, hospitality and leisure, retail, education and healthcare. The result is a collection built around considered materials, subtle character and genuine versatility – designed to make specification clearer and simpler, not restrictive.

Woods now take the lead in the evolved Spacia collection, reflecting the pull towards warm, natural interiors. This is not about loud colour; the story is in the detail: softer Scandi inspired tones, smooth natural oaks with gentle tonal movement, more expressive grains where knots add character, lightly treated weathered finishes and a return to richer, darker woods influenced by mid century and heritage interiors. Across these styles, the emphasis is on texture, variation and a grounded, easy to live with feel – qualities that translate across different commercial settings and shifting trends.

The evolution of Spacia Stones follows the same measured approach. Classic stones and soft textures provide familiar, versatile foundations, while embedded concrete designs and a more playful terrazzo offering introduce zoning, rhythm and visual interest in larger commercial spaces. The focus is on natural looking surfaces with longevity – designs that sit comfortably within contemporary interiors now and still make sense later.

Alongside the design evolution, Spacia has been structured to remove unnecessary complexity for specifiers. Availability across plank and tile sizes has been simplified, every wood design is now available in a parquet option – bringing the total to 140 parquet designs, offering designers greater consistency and flexibility.

Created for demanding commercial environments, Spacia LVT features a 0.55mm wear layer and is supported by a 10 year commercial warranty. The collection can also be specified with optional

enhancements, including Amtico Acoustic backing for up to 18dB sound reduction, Amtico Safety for enhanced slip resistance, and Amtico Bio, using bio attributed PVC, balancing design intent with practical performance requirements.

Stocked in the UK and ready to deliver, the evolution of Spacia reflects a simple idea: when projects move quickly, and briefs are increasingly complex, the most valuable floors are the ones that quietly make everything easier – without losing the design story. Spacia simply works.

Since Spacia first launched 21 years ago, the way commercial spaces are designed and used has changed significantly. Designers are increasingly influenced by cross sector trends and the need for spaces that are adaptable, hard working and straightforward to specify. Woods now take a more prominent role within the Spacia LVT collection, with softer Scandinavian inspired tones, smoother natural oaks with subtle tonal movement, more expressive grains and knots, gently weathered finishes and deeper, mid century influenced shades. Parquet designs have also been expanded with every Wood now available in parquet – bringing the total to 140. Within Stones, the collection features refreshed terrazzo and large scale Piazza, embedded concretes, and classic marbles, offering a versatile foundation and zoning opportunities in hospitality spaces.

Designed for demanding environments, Spacia LVT features a 0.55mm wear layer and is backed by a 10 year commercial warranty.

Protecting Hospitality Properties from Algae, Moss and Grime

- PAZCO -

External surfaces form a critical part of a hospitality property’s building envelope, contributing to weather resistance, safety performance and long-term asset value. While major systems such as roofing, HVAC and insulation are routinely monitored, biological contamination of facades and hard landscaping is frequently overlooked. Algae, moss and atmospheric pollutants accumulate gradually, yet their impact on material performance and maintenance costs can be substantial.

Extended periods of rainfall, high humidity and limited sunlight create optimal conditions for biological growth on exposed substrates. Porous materials such as natural stone, concrete, brickwork, timber cladding and roof tiles readily absorb moisture through capillary action. This retained moisture supports microbial colonisation and allows organic matter to embed within surface structures. Although staining is the most visible indicator, the underlying concern is the progressive degradation of the substrate.

Biological growth alters the moisture equilibrium of building materials. Algae and moss increase surface wetness and delay evaporation, resulting in prolonged saturation. In mineral-based materials this intensifies freeze–thaw stress, chemical weathering and surface erosion. In timber components sustained moisture levels encourage fungal development and fibre breakdown. Accumulated moss can also restrict drainage pathways, increasing the risk of overflow, water penetration and internal dampness.

In addition to structural implications surface contamination presents operational and compliance challenges. Algal biofilms reduce surface friction, creating slip hazards on walkways and access routes. Visually deteriorated exteriors may also undermine brand perception and conflict with sustainability and quality assurance standards increasingly expected within the hospitality sector.

chemical and mechanical intervention accelerates surface degradation and increases whole-life maintenance costs.

A more responsible and technically robust approach prioritises low-impact cleaning combined with natural, breathable surface protection. Specialist treatments based on renewable plant-wax technology, such as Inducoat Ecological, provide an effective alternative to solvent-based or biocidal products. Rather than forming impermeable surface films these formulations penetrate deeply into the substrate’s capillary network and chemically bond within the material structure. This creates a hydrophobic yet vapour-permeable barrier that limits water absorption, inhibits pollutant adhesion and significantly reduces the conditions required for biological regrowth.

By maintaining vapour permeability natural impregnation systems support healthy moisture migration and prevent trapped condensation, hidden decay and salt crystallisation. Their nontoxic composition makes them suitable for sensitive environments, landscaped areas and properties operating under strict environmental management frameworks.

Inducoat Ecological delivers long-term protection— typically between three and five years—without relying on harsh acids, chlorine-based agents or synthetic solvents. Reduced water uptake improves resistance to frost damage, minimises surface soiling and stabilises material performance across seasonal cycles. The result is a measurable reduction in cleaning frequency, water consumption and chemical usage.

From a strategic perspective algae and moss management should form part of a preventative maintenance programme aligned with sustainability objectives. Implementing natural surface protection systems extends material service life, enhances safety compliance, reduces environmental impact and reinforces the commitment to responsible property management that modern hospitality brands increasingly demand.

Traditional remediation methods often rely on aggressive chemical cleaners or high-pressure washing systems. While these techniques may deliver rapid aesthetic improvement they can compromise material integrity, increase porosity and introduce environmentally harmful residues into surrounding ecosystems. Over time repeated www.pazco.co.uk

Pazco supplies the Inducoat Ecological range of high-performance, plant-wax based, waterproof surface treatments which are breathable, non-film forming and free from harmful chemicals.

Specially designed for exterior surfaces, they prevent the adhesion of algae, moss, pollution and grime while providing UV protection and long-lasting durability.

Safety is now a duty of care across multiple sectors, says Fire Aware

- FIRE & SAFETY -

The cultural change needed to bring about a shift in fire safety starts with a recognition of a duty of care by all of those responsible across multiple sectors, says growing fire safety body Fire Aware.

Everyone involved in the design, construction, maintenance and letting of the built environment needs to understand that they have an obligation to fire safety even if their business is not directly connected with fire specialisms, says the expanding fire safety organisation.

Dame Judith Hackitt – who led the Grenfell Inquiry – has called for cultural change through moral and ethical behaviours, recently supported by the new independent Building Safety Regulator which has been created to “promote competence and higher standards.”

Fire Aware CEO Gavin Skelly said: “We have many members who are not directly connected to fire safety but still accept they have a duty of care for public safety. People can get hurt through a fire incident even if it is by the actions of people way outside of the fire specialisms.

“Committing to the moral and ethical values of being fire safe is more than a job. It’s a way of life and a vocation. Our members are all of the same mind and we are moving towards raising the bar of standards, competence and commitment to fire safety of the

public. Ultimately, we are talking about protecting people.”

Sectors which are particularly vulnerable to fire risk include the hospitality sector – with the many bars, restaurants and hotels which are trusted to protect their customers and healthcare which has to protect many vulnerable and elderly people including those who cannot look after themselves in the event of a real fire.

Fire Aware continues to focus on the moral responsibility of all those working in the fire safety supply chain including designers, developers, asset owners, managers and other stakeholders.

It aims to change the culture of the built environment sector by introducing a moral code of conduct via a series of charters designed to influence how member companies behave in upholding their duty of care.

Fire Aware is a recognised membership body serving the built environment and related sectors with a common aim to work and trade responsibly to all best practice standards in the interests of the safety of the general public.

Join the Hospitality Community at Food, Drink & Hospitality Week 2026

- HRC -

When Food, Drink & Hospitality Week returns to Excel London from 30 March to 01 April 2026, it brings together six major trade events at a time when hospitality is balancing operational pressure with long term opportunity.

Across three days, the programme offers a joined up view of the sector, from people and culture to technology, sourcing and skills. At the centre of that offer for hospitality professionals are HRC, the newly launched Hospitality Tech360, and The Pub Show, each addressing distinct but closely connected parts of the hospitality ecosystem.

HRC remains the flagship event for hospitality operators, bringing together suppliers across food, drink, equipment, furniture, interiors and tableware. Designed for professionals working across restaurants, hotels, catering and foodservice, HRC 2026 has been shaped around industry feedback, with a renewed emphasis on relevance, clarity and conversations that reflect the realities of running hospitality businesses today.

Content is led by the Vision Stage and the Future of Drinks Stage, which together will host more than 100 speakers across panels, interviews and in conversation sessions. The programme brings together high profile chefs, operators and industry leaders, including Adam Handling MBE, Sally Abé, Kate Nicholls OBE, Sacha Lord, Charles Banks, Alison Battisby, Steve Alton, Laura Willoughby MBE and Jade Craig. Topics range from leadership, resilience and equality to social change, evolving consumer behaviour and the future direction of food and drink.

Rather than offering surface level trend discussion, sessions are positioned to tackle the structural challenges facing hospitality, from talent retention and wellbeing to business sustainability and cultural change. The Vision Stage focuses on people, leadership and the human side of hospitality, while the Future of Drinks Stage explores shifting drinking habits, premiumisation, moderation and how drinks strategies are evolving across on trade settings.

On the show floor, HRC’s section structure allows visitors to navigate the market efficiently. Core areas include Food, Bar, Hot Drinks, Furniture, Interiors & Tableware, and Equipment, with further focus areas within food covering Street Food, Pastry, and Pizza & Pasta. New for 2026 is a dedicated Street Food section, reflecting the continued influence of informal dining, food trucks and flexible formats on the wider hospitality landscape.

Chef HQ and Pastry HQ, curated by Chef Publishing, return as live skills and networking hubs, combining demonstrations, discussion and practical insight. These areas are designed to support chefs and operators at different stages of their careers, reinforcing HRC’s role as a place for professional development as well as sourcing.

Running alongside HRC for the first time is Hospitality Tech360, a new launch that brings hospitality technology into clear focus. HT360 is positioned as a 360 degree marketplace for digital tools supporting hospitality growth, covering everything from guest experience and payments to data, workforce systems and back of house operations.

The show’s Hospitality Leaders Forum will bring together senior figures to discuss how technology intersects with leadership, decision making and commercial performance. Speakers including Gavin Smith, CEO of Pizza Pilgrims, Sarah Pope, CIO & IT Director at Big Table Group, Shereen Ritchie, CEO of Kuvi, Tim Doubleday, CFO at Burger King UK, Tom James, Managing Director at Bill’s Restaurants, and many more will be discussing everything from leadership to innovative kitchen tech to the women driving the future of hospitality tech.

The Pub Show takes place alongside HRC and HT360, offering a dedicated platform for the UK pub sector. As the only trade event focused entirely on pubs, it brings together pub operators, licensees and suppliers

addressing the specific pressures facing the licensed trade. Across the show floor, visitors can explore solutions spanning food and drink, equipment, services and operational support, with a strong emphasis on practicality and commercial relevance.

For 2026, The Pub Show reflects the realities of a sector navigating rising costs, labour challenges and changing consumer expectations. Content and exhibitors focus on how pubs are adapting through food led offers, premium drinks, community engagement and more flexible operating models. The co location with HRC and Hospitality Tech360 allows pub operators to access a wider range of suppliers and ideas, from kitchen equipment and interiors to digital tools that support staffing, payments and customer engagement.

Adding a competitive and skills focused dimension to the week is International Salon Culinaire, one of the UK’s most prestigious culinary competition programmes. Taking place live across all three days, the competitions showcase chefs at every level, from emerging talent to experienced professionals, highlighting the technical skill and creativity that underpin the hospitality industry.

Completing the Food, Drink & Hospitality Week portfolio are IFE and IFE Manufacturing, which focus on food and drink sourcing, product development and manufacturing innovation. While rooted in retail and supply chain, their presence adds valuable context for hospitality operators interested in emerging products, ingredients and formats shaping future menus and concepts.

Global Flavours on the Rise: Hospitality Trends for Early 2026

- ALLIANCE ONLINE -

As we move into the first part of 2026, UK hospitality continues to embrace bold, globally inspired dining experiences. Alliance Online highlights the increasingly adventurous styles and trends including new cuisines, immersive atmospheres, and innovative presentation. From East Asia to South America, emerging trends are shaping not only menus but also the design, service, and tableware that bring these experiences to life.

East Asian Influence

East Asian cuisine remains a major growth area across the UK, spanning high end Japanese and Korean restaurants to street food inspired ramen and dim sum concepts. Venues are increasingly focused on authenticity, integrating cultural philosophies such as wabi sabi, feng shui, and jeong into their spatial design, service style, and culinary approach. Minimalist ceramics, lacquerware, and artful plating such as Artis’ Nara range continue to play a key role in creating visually compelling dishes, while seasonal ingredients and natural materials connect diners to nature.

South Asian Expansion

South Asian dining shows no sign of slowing, with venues exploring the diversity of Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi, and Nepalese cuisines. From modern fine dining to street food and thali concepts, the focus is on bold flavours, layered spices, and vibrant presentation. Courtyard centric layouts, intricate carvings, jali screens, and ornate textiles create an immersive atmosphere, while traditional earthenware like Dudson’s Harvest Flare enhances authenticity.

South American Flair

South American inspired concepts are rising in prominence, offering vibrant, flavour packed experiences from Peruvian ceviche bars to Brazilian churrasco and Latin street food. Interiors favour open, social layouts that encourage communal dining, with rustic textures, earthy ceramics, and vibrant colour palettes reflecting tropical produce and indigenous heritage. Decorative elements often reference the landscape, sun, and water, while music, scent, and lively service create an energetic yet grounded atmosphere. Shared platters, natural textures, and bold plating like Churchill’s Inked Cascade continue to be a hallmark of the style.

Stars, Stripes & Smoke – American BBQ

Anglo American dining culture remains a mainstay, particularly in casual and experiential settings. BBQ joints, smokehouses, diners, and burger bars are evolving to emphasise craft, authenticity, and community. Exposed brick, steel, and reclaimed wood interiors, along with open kitchens and smokers, showcase the artistry of slow cooked meats. Presentation prioritises utility and abundance, with steel serveware such as GenWare’s Vintage Steel collection, cast iron skillets, and rustic glassware reinforcing the generous, relaxed ethos.

Across all these trends, one theme is clear: consumers seek experiences that engage the senses, honour authenticity, and deliver visually and culturally rich storytelling. For ways to capitalise and reflect these themes in your own venue, contact Alliance Online on 0844 499 4300 or email us on hello@allianceonline.co.uk.

Husky Intelligent Fridges: Redefining Unmanned Retail

- HUSKY -

The hospitality and retail industries are evolving at pace, driven by a need for efficiency, customer convenience, and smarter operations. Husky Intelligent Fridges are at the forefront of this change, offering a genuinely innovative approach to unmanned retail that blends technology, sustainability, and practicality.

Unlike traditional vending machines, Husky Intelligent Fridges deliver a seamless customer experience. Guests or consumers can unlock the fridge using a payment card, mobile wallet, or even a hotel room key card. Once the door is opened, RFID sensors automatically register which items are taken and process payment instantly. The result is frictionless, staff free sales available twenty four hours a day.

For hotels, the integration possibilities are particularly powerful. By linking with property management systems, items taken from the fridge can be automatically charged to the guest’s room, reducing administration and enhancing the overall experience. For cafés, gyms, co working spaces, universities, and transport hubs, the fridges provide new opportunities for offering fresh, healthy food and drinks without the costs and complexities of additional staff. They are equally effective in corporate environments, supporting employee wellbeing by making nutritious snacks and drinks accessible around the clock.

Behind the scenes, Husky Intelligent Fridges provide operators with a robust management platform. Real time dashboards track sales, stock levels, and expiry dates across multiple locations, while low stock alerts help to optimise restocking schedules. This intelligence not only saves time but also reduces waste and improves profitability. For multi site operators, centralised control allows them to view and manage an entire fleet of fridges from one system, ensuring consistency and efficiency at scale.

Sustainability is also at the core of Husky’s design. Precision engineered refrigeration technology ensures reduced energy consumption while maximising product visibility. Combined with the unmanned retail model, operators can lower both costs and carbon footprint while still delivering high quality customer service.

Whether for hotels seeking to modernise minibar services, cafés aiming to grow round the clock sales, or retailers expanding into unmanned formats, Husky Intelligent Fridges provide a flexible, future ready solution.

Sofitel introduces Le Vestiaire by Cordelia de Castellane - SOFITEL -

A Parisian inspired wardrobe redefining the art of dressing in luxury hospitality

45 pieces / 25 positions / 25 000 employees / 120 hotels / tested with 110 employees around the World

A new chapter for Sofitel style

Inspired by the spirit of Paris, Sofitel introduces Le Vestiaire, a global wardrobe created as a statement of style and self expression. Created in collaboration with French designer Cordelia de Castellane, the global collection blends couture sensibility with everyday sophistication a mix and match expression of elegance designed for Sofitel’s world of modern luxury.

The new collection, Le Vestiaire, empowers Sofitel’s 25,000 employees from Front Office to Housekeeping to proudly dress with individuality and ease, reflecting the effortless chic of French style.

From refined tailoring to pieces enriched with Sofitel’s hand drawn prints and monogram, the collection weaves quiet identity into every detail. Designed for inclusivity and ease, it balances modern comfort with French elegance, adapting seamlessly to cultures, climates and hotel personalities across the globe.

Sofitel’s new Le Vestiaire will begin rolling out in hotels worldwide from the end of 2026.

One Vestiaire. Thousands of expressions. Comprising more than 45 pieces and a curated selection of refined accessories, Le Vestiaire captures the creative, cosmopolitan spirit of Paris, where elegance is never uniform and individuality is always in style. Designed with versatility at its core, the collection enables each Sofitel hotel, resort, and residence, from Sofitel Dubai The Obelisk to Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi and Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua, to curate a wardrobe fitting the local culture while maintaining Sofitel’s signature French elegance.

With silhouettes designed to adapt to each culture, climate, and character, Le Vestiaire offers one wardrobe with thousands of possibilities. Sofitel employees are empowered to curate their own “vestiaire”, freely mixing and matching a range of versatile pieces to create silhouettes suiting different body shapes, personal preferences, and levels of comfort a true celebration of individuality across the Sofitel world. For example, the Gilet Cintré* is available in a sleeveless version and can be effortlessly paired

with either pleated trousers or a midi skirt. More than attire, this mix and match collection reflects Sofitel’s belief that true luxury is personal.

Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems, said:

“We are entering a moment when Sofitel has fully regained its pride, at a time when so many of our hotels are being beautifully renovated such as Sofitel New York, Sofitel Montreal Golden Mile, and many more and when new Sofitel properties are opening around the world as true flagships of the brand. It was essential to me that our teams the very essence of luxury could also benefit from this new era of beauty. It felt only natural that they should shine more than ever. I am delighted by this collaboration with Cordelia de Castellane, who has perfectly captured the spirit of a refined, timeless wardrobe, celebrating French elegance and luxury.”

Haute couture sensitivity meets hospitality. Iconic French designer Cordelia de Castellane channels timeless Parisian style in Le Vestiaire, shaped by a career steeped in French couture and the exceptional savoir faire of the ateliers where she perfected her craft. A true Parisienne with a cosmopolitan spirit, de Castellane’s lifestyle and curiosity for other cultures continually inspire her work.

Designing her first global wardrobe was both a creative challenge and an intimate collaboration. Immersing herself in workshops and fittings with Sofitel’s Heartists, she explored comfort, movement, and personal expression, ensuring the collection resonates across diverse silhouettes, cultures, and roles.

Timeless cuts, tactile fabrics, and expressive hues define the collection, with each piece crafted to move seamlessly between formality and ease. The result is a modern interpretation of the French art de vivre, refined, spirited, and beautifully attuned to the people who wear it.

A harmonious palette of navy blue, coconut milk, beige, and denim blue anchors the collection, chosen for its timeless appeal and its ability to complement every complexion and environment. Tailored silhouettes are enhanced by expressive accessories including belts and scarf brooches that subtly feature the Cultural Link, Sofitel’s iconic logo symbolizing a bridge between cultures.

In parallel, the graphic Sofitel logo is reinterpreted through a series of exclusive monogram prints, woven into scarves, shirts, dresses, and ties, transforming the brand’s visual signature into a refined and luxurious design language.

Cordelia de Castellane, French fashion designer, said:

“For this project, I didn’t want to create uniforms, I wanted to design a vestiaire. The idea is simple: pick and choose a look that fits the right place and the right position. Most importantly, I knew I didn’t want to lock people into a specific uniform. Sofitel is a great French brand that has set out on an adventure and has truly established a legacy.”

“This collaboration felt very natural because we share the same values: a love of beauty, attention to detail and a deep respect for craftsmanship and comfort. Together, we created a vestiaire that speaks the language of Sofitel’s luxury hospitality: warm, refined and effortlessly French.”

“Fashion is never neutral. It influences our mood every day. I wanted these pieces to feel positive and reassuring, clothes that support people emotionally as much as visually, and that reflect the warmth and elegance of Sofitel’s hospitality.”

“What I love about Sofitel is its ability to honour its French heritage while constantly evolving. This collaboration was about finding that balance, by

creating a modern vestiaire that respects tradition, craftsmanship and the elegance that has become part of the brand’s DNA.”

“Designing for this collaboration meant I was able to translate that luxurious, French spirit of Sofitel into silhouettes that are both timeless and contemporary, with a sense of ease that reflects the way people truly move and work.”

Pride in every detail.

Designed with our teams and for our teams, the Vestiaire was shaped by those who wear it every day. Every cut, fabric, and detail ensures optimal comfort, a perfect fit, and a sense of pride so our employees can move freely, feel confident, and embody Sofitel’s elegance in every gesture.

Quotes from our employees :

“Working at Sofitel New York, the pace is fast and the guests are diverse, and the uniform works with that reality. It still feels French at heart, but with a New York edge that makes sense for our hotel.”

“For me, it’s really about comfort. As part of the Front Desk team at Sofitel, I’m on my feet all day, moving between guests and the back office, and when you’re comfortableinyouruniform, youfeelmoreconfident. It helps you stay calm, polished and welcoming, even during the busiest moments.”

“It feels much more modern than what we’ve worn before. Working in Guest Services, I’m constantly moving around the lobby, helping guests and responding quickly, and the uniform just feels easier to move in. It fits the energy of Sofitel today elegant, but not rigid.”

“I like that we have options now. As someone working in Front Office, we’re often the first people guests see, so it’s great knowing I can always look like the best version of myself. Being able to switch pieces dependingonthedaykeepsitfresh, whilestilllooking unmistakably Sofitel.”

“It means something knowing it was designed in Paris. As a Concierge, guests often comment on what we’re wearing or ask about the details, so it’s nice to share that Sofitel is a French brand and that the uniform reflects that heritage. It becomes part of the guest experience and the story we tell.”

“The little details stand out to me. Elements like Sofitel’s Cultural Link really make the uniform feel thoughtful and personal, without being overdone. Having worked with Sofitel for many years, it feels like a uniform that truly reflects the brand’s attention to detail and sense of luxury today.”

Stannah Lifts Delivers Safer Handling and Enhanced Efficiency at The Harris Following a £19 Million Reimaging Project

- STANNAH LIFTS -

The Harris in Preston, Lancashire, has significantly improved operational efficiency and staff safety with the recent installation of a Stannah dumbwaiter.

Faced with the frequent challenge of moving heavy and fragile items between floors, The Harris Café needed an efficient solution that would provide a dedicated internal access route, removing the need to manoeuvre goods through public areas.

The work

The 19million refurbishment project included repairing the building to restore its architectural appeal while upgrading its infrastructure, with the installation of a Stannah Microlift dumbwaiter.

Preston City Council has led the project in collaboration with Conlon Construction Ltd. Whilst Direct Access provided accessibility consultancy to ensure inclusive design across all spaces, Stannah Lifts managed the installation and provided ongoing maintenance of the dumbwaiter.

The solution

Stannah Lifts recommended a floor level loading Microlift as the most effective solution for The Harris Café. Unlike traditional dumbwaiters that load at waist height, the floor level Microlift allows items to be transferred directly on and off the lift using small trolleys, roll cages or pallets.

The floor loading design significantly reduces the need for strenuous lifting and drastically lowers the risk of back injuries and other manual handling related accidents.

The Microlift dumbwaiter features a galvanised steel supporting frame that can be erected quickly with minimal on site building work and does not require a load bearing shaft. With a 100 kg capacity, the Microlift 100B model provides fast and reliable transport of goods between floors, offering a cost effective way to mitigate manual handling risks while improving operational efficiency.

The results

The installation of the Stannah Microlift has delivered significant improvements in providing safe loading, transporting goods to the first and second floors of galleries and exhibitions.

By providing a dedicated internal route for transporting heavy and fragile items between floors, the dumbwaiter has made it easier for staff to manoeuvre goods, reducing manual handling risks and improving safety.

Fitted with a modern VVVF (Variable Voltage Variable Frequency) drive system, the Microlift delivers improved energy efficiency without compromising performance or lifting power. This advanced drive technology ensures smoother operation, reduced power consumption and lower long term running costs.

As a result, the Microlift now facilitates controlled movement of goods between floors while offering a quieter, more efficient and energy efficient solution for daily operations.

Timothy Joel, Assistant Director, Head of Culture for Preston City Council, shares: “The installation of the new floor loading Microlift dumbwaiter from Stannah Lifts has greatly improved café operations and ensures safer handling of bulky items. It’s safer for our staff, streamlines workflows, and allows us to focus on further improving operational efficiency.”

How Print Innovation Can Enhance Your Guest Experience

- DTM PRINT -

In hospitality, every visitor to a hotel, restaurant or business event should feel valued. Each guest deserves to be treated as an individual, not simply ‘another visitor’. With DTM Print, an international printing solution provider, this level of personalisation is easy to achieve — but what does that really mean? From personalised hotel gifts such as toiletries, bedtime biscuits and afternoon tea treats to bespoke edible prints for private and corporate events, these thoughtful touches enhance the guest experience, encourage positive reviews and create opportunities to increase revenue.

So how can DTM Print help? The Eddie Edible Ink Printer enables direct printing onto food and is already used by leading hotels including The Trafalgar St. James London, Conrad Hilton Dublin, Hilton Birmingham Metropole and The London Hilton on Park Lane. Photos, personalised messages and company logos can all be printed directly onto food for truly memorable guest experiences — particularly in high volume hotel and event environments where consistency and creativity must go hand in hand.

Another hotel already seeing the benefits is Novotel London West. Its Executive Head Chef, Mr Omkar Mestry, oversees all culinary operations at the hotel and quickly recognised the potential of food printing to enhance guest experiences. After investing in the Eddie printer, his recommendation is clear: “The Eddie printer is an excellent investment for any hotel looking to enhance guest personalisation and elevate brand presentation, especially for events and VIP services.“

Packaging matters too — first impressions often start with the label. Material choice, print quality, colour range, design and shape all contribute to perceived

value. The LX610e Color Label Printer produces personalised, photo quality labels cut to virtually any shape, all from a single in house device. This eliminates delays from external print providers while creating distinctive packaging that tells customers they are valued.

In addition, signage and labels for internal use, such as hotel safety signs, information and advice labels from housekeeping, direction signs, inventory labels, safety instructions and security signs, can also be produced with the LX610e in house and on demand.

Beyond bespoke food items created with the Eddie Edible Ink Printer, where personalised treats and event dining leave a lasting impression on guests, the same attention to detail is equally important throughout the wider hospitality environment. From professional packaging and labels to safety signage, wayfinding and operational notices, the ability to produce high quality prints in house supports consistency, compliance and efficiency — ensuring that both guest experience and behind the scenes operations across hotels, restaurants and venues meet the high standards today’s hospitality sector demands.

DTM Print will be exhibiting at HRC, London ExCeL (stand S1611), where visitors can see these solutions in action and experience how personalisation helps every guest feel special. For more information call us on +44 (0)1892 574884 or

Packaging’s Regulatory Reckoning: A Preview for the U.S. Market

- GO-PAK -

Packaging regulation has moved beyond compliance detail and is now directly affecting profit and loss. That’s the hard lesson the UK has learned, and one U.S. businesses can’t afford to ignore.

For years, UK packaging rules tightened gradually. Many companies treated early reporting requirements as administrative burdens rather than strategic signals. Then Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), PFAS restrictions and stricter labeling expectations arrived and packaging decisions suddenly started carrying direct financial consequences.

In the UK, confusion around definitions, thresholds and reporting categories has created uneven readiness across sectors. Businesses that invested early in regulatory expertise and cross functional compliance teams adapted faster and avoided costly redesign cycles later. U.S. firms facing PFAS bans, PACK Act proposals and truth in labeling scrutiny should build internal regulatory intelligence now, not after enforcement begins.

Technically, UK and EU facing manufacturers have already been forced to accelerate PFAS free packaging development. The biggest lesson: diversify raw material sources early. Supplier chemistry and performance vary widely, and relying on a single additive or substrate partner creates risk. Companies that built parallel testing capability and innovation partnerships reduced qualification time and avoided supply bottlenecks.

EPR has also reshaped commercial relationships. Packaging is no longer just a unit cost; it carries downstream liability. Material, design and labeling choices now determine future compliance exposure and fee levels for brand owners. That shift has made true supplier–brand partnerships more valuable, moving conversations from price per unit to shared risk and lifecycle impact. The U.S. market, still largely transactional in packaging procurement, will need to evolve toward deeper collaboration.

Circularity provides another caution. In the UK, the most successful circular packaging projects start with end of life reality, not material hype. Where will this pack actually go? What infrastructure will handle it? What contamination risks exist? Leading with a “miracle material” instead of a recovery pathway often leads to higher cost with little environmental gain.

Perhaps the most uncomfortable lesson is economic: sustainability innovation costs money. The question is no longer whether packaging change is expensive; it’s whether delay will cost more. In the UK, regulation turned packaging into a board level KPI because cost signals changed behavior.

The U.S. still has a window to act early. Those who treat packaging reform as strategy not reaction will be the ones who stay competitive when regulation catches up.

Hotels are Overlooking a Lucrative EV Opportunity – And the Window of Competitive Advantage is Closing

- EASEE -

As electric vehicles move firmly into the mainstream, guest expectations are shifting. Sustainability, convenience and overall experience are increasingly shaping booking decisions, and EV charging is quickly becoming essential rather than optional.

For hotels, this is an opportunity hiding in plain sight; with more than a million EVs now on UK roads and adoption accelerating, guests are actively planning journeys around charging availability. For guests, plug in on arrival, waking up fully charged and removing the stress from onward travel is what makes the EV experience so appealing. Destination charging is about convenience and hotels are perfectly positioned to provide it.

The commercial benefits also extend well beyond guest satisfaction, as charging infrastructure can generate new revenue through pay as you go models, bundled rates or loyalty incentives. It also drives occupancy, as EV drivers actively seek out properties with charging and are often willing to travel further to secure it. Visible investment in EV infrastructure strengthens sustainability credentials, reinforcing brand appeal with environmentally conscious travellers.

Easee’s smart wall box chargers are designed with hospitality settings in mind. Compact, discreet and quick to install, they integrate easily into car parks and underground garages and frequently work with existing electrical infrastructure, avoiding costly upgrades.

With features like dynamic load balancing allowing multiple vehicles to charge simultaneously without exceeding site capacity, smart technology further strengthens the business case, often removing the need for grid reinforcement. Cloud based management tools provide full visibility and control over usage, pricing and access, while enabling alignment with off peak tariffs. Integration with on site renewables, such as solar, can reduce both environmental impact and operating costs.

Scalability ensures hotels can start small and expand as demand grows, protecting investment as EV adoption continues to rise.

EV charging is fast becoming a point of differentiation across guest segments, from corporate travellers in company EVs to families on long distance trips. Properties offering charging gain visibility on specialist platforms, strengthen guest satisfaction and build positive reviews. Adopters are therefore already embedding EV charging into their brand story to stand out in a crowded market.

EV charging has evolved from a niche extra into a strategic asset. It enhances guest experience, unlocks revenue and strengthens sustainability credentials in one move. The only question is how quickly hotels choose to act. www.easee.com

Improving the Bottom Line with Bar Tabs

- CARDSSAFE -

Bar tabs, a classic hospitality practice, can be a powerful tool for increasing customer spending. They can significantly improve a bar or restaurant’s revenue by offering convenience and fostering a sense of community.

Here’s how bar tabs can boost customer spending.

Streamline Ordering

If your venue offers a bar tab service, it can reduce friction in the ordering process. Customers can receive faster service because bar tabs can streamline the ordering process, allowing bartenders and servers to quickly input drinks and food, reducing wait times and improving customer satisfaction.

Impulsive Spending

Customers who don’t have to reach for their wallets or cards regularly are more likely to make impulse purchases, such as additional drinks or desserts. Establishments that allow for tabs will increase customer spending. Phil Dixon, a previous advisor to the BII, was adamant that “If you want to increase spend, you must retain cards.” Paul Eagles, previous Head of Risk Policy and Strategy at VISA, confirmed this: “When using cards, people spend at least 35% more.”

Deterring Dine and Dash

We’re seeing an increase in dine and dash incidents plaguing operators and hospitality venues. How can operators best protect themselves from these incidents? Keeping customers’ bank cards while running a tab removes the temptation to ‘dash’. Securely holding bank cards allows you to check their validity and greatly reduces the risk of customers walking out without paying if their cards are securely stored behind the bar.

Enhanced Social Experience

Bar tabs can encourage customers to stay longer, as they don’t have to worry about constantly settling the bill. When friends and family are out together, bar tabs can foster a more relaxed, social atmosphere, leading to increased spending on shared items and rounds of drinks.

A bar tab is perfect for group outings, where splitting the bill can be a hassle. It simplifies the process and ensures everyone contributes fairly.

Loyalty and Repeat Business

Bar tabs let staff know their regular customers’ preferences, leading to more personalised service and stronger customer relationships. Many bars and restaurants offer loyalty programs tied to bar tabs that reward frequent customers with discounts, free drinks, or other incentives.

Strategic Upselling and Cross-Selling

Bar tabs can provide valuable data on customer preferences, spending habits, and peak hours. Businesses can tailor marketing campaigns and promotions to specific customer segments by analysing this data.

By understanding the psychology behind customer behaviour and leveraging the power of bar tabs, you can create a more engaging and profitable bar or restaurant experience.

Modernising the Bar Tab Experience

Keeping customer cards in a folder or the till needs to be more professional and offer greater security for customers. CardsSafe is the most secure way to keep food and drink tabs and reassure customers that you take their card safety seriously. CardsSafe is a cost effective technology designed to securely retain customer credit, debit and ID cards while customers run tabs or hire a product or service. With CardsSafe, businesses can securely retain bank and ID cards, allowing staff to up sell, reassuring customers that their cards are held responsibly, improving customer service and protecting assets. As a result, by improving security, hospitality managers can maximise profit, increase spending, and reduce losses.

Revolutionising Hospitality with Smart Robotics

- CAFE CULTURE -

In today’s fast evolving hospitality landscape, innovation and efficiency are at the forefront of guest experience. Two cutting edge technologies are transforming the way venues operate — the Aotingbots Commercial Waterless Cleaning Robot and the PadBot W3S Intelligent Food Delivery Robot.

The Aotingbots Commercial Waterless Cleaning Robot introduces a groundbreaking approach to automated cleaning. Rolling Out Solar at Scale in the Hospitality Sector

- GEO GREEN POWER -

One of the biggest challenges for hospitality businesses is rising energy prices which can be made even more difficult for restaurants and bars with kitchens, hotels with round the clock operations and any busy chain with multiple sites.

However, a simple solution to help those in the sector reduce these costs, particularly in the long term, is to invest in the installation of solar PV systems. While this might be an appealing prospect, it can seem both logistically and financially out of reach, especially for hospitality chains which may want to roll this out at scale.

Here, Kat Auckland, Director of Communications, at nationwide renewable energy installers, Geo Green Power who specialise in solar has explained more about this subject.

What Does ‘Solar at Scale’ Mean?

This is the design and delivery of a solar PV project on a much bigger scale than a typical one off commercial or domestic install.

Hospitality and leisure venues vary in size and age, an installation on a pub might be similar to a large domestic one and an installation on a multiplex cinema more akin to a warehouse roof. ‘At scale’ for this sector tends to mean rolling out to multiple locations and installing systems of varying shapes and sizes.

‘Multi site’ projects often deliver the biggest impact, but they do require a high level of professionalism, experience and expertise to design, manage and implement.

Solar at Scale: The Benefits

Solar PV can bring a number of benefits to a hospitality business and a large scale rollout of installations can essentially spread and augment these benefits across its chosen sites.

Following an investment in solar PV businesses benefit from Significant cost savings on overall energy consumption

• Protection against fluctuations in energy prices

• Opportunities to use battery storage for nighttime energy use

• An increase in the overall value of the full estate

• A clear demonstration of their brand’s commitment towards sustainability

A notable carbon footprint reduction

• A subsequent positive influence on brand perception

Common Questions about Solar Installations in the Hospitality Sector

With many solar PV installations for various hospitality groups to our name, we have encountered a number of key questions businesses in the sector have regarding them. Some of the most common are:

What ongoing maintenance is required with solar PV?

Solar PV systems have very few moving parts and are low maintenance. We suggest an annual check for peace of mind and we have an inhouse team who can deliver an optional servicing package and performance monitoring.

Can solar be utilised for nighttime energy use?

Yes they can by adding battery storage, which allows your business to store excess energy generated during the day and use it at night. We would always assess your energy usage carefully and weigh up the benefits of adding a battery to your individual system to ensure that it delivered a payback.

Do solar panels affect the appearance of my hotel or restaurant?

Most of our installations are done on rooftops and are designed to be discreet. Our team will always conduct detailed site assessments to ensure aesthetics are preserved, and we would work with planning departments for conservation areas or listed buildings.

How long does a large scale installation take?

The total time depends on the number of premises involved in the project, but typically a pub or restaurant installation would take our team two to five days. A larger site like a motorway services could be up to two weeks. In any case, our fully trained

teams work efficiently and in a way that causes minimal disruption to a business’ operations and always prioritises Health and Safety.

Can hospitality businesses get funding or finance to help pay for solar?

There are several funding routes available to help hospitality sector companies make the switch to clean energy, these include Power Purchase Agreements, asset finance and solar grants.

Two Positive Examples

Here are two standout examples of us successfully rolling out solar at scale within hospitality:

Moto Hospitality

15 systems across Moto’s nationwide services

Become a World Medical Card Partner

- WORLD MEDICAL CARD -

At World Medical Card, we believe that the health and safety of individuals should never be compromised.

The World Medical Card is a two in one solution for travellers with medical conditions. Membership offers a physical medical ID card and a secure app that holds members’ vital medical information. With it, medical professionals can deliver faster, safer, and more accurate treatment in an emergency worldwide.

In a world that’s constantly on the move, whether for business or pleasure, one essential item often gets overlooked in the packing list: easily accessible, comprehensive medical information. Imagine your hotel guest collapses, staff and emergency services cannot communicate with the patient, and nobody knows the individual’s medical history or speaks their language. That’s where the World Medical Card steps in, acting as a silent, yet incredibly vital, medical advocate. WMC is developed using World Health Organisation codes for diagnoses and medicines, which are understood globally. The app can translate information into more than 100 languages, ensuring

better communication worldwide. Arne Veidung, the founder of the World Medical Card, explains, “I want to see an end to medical communication problems that ultimately can cause deaths to disappear forever.”

By offering WMC to your customers, you can elevate your guest experience and increase revenue. Our partners benefit from the World Medical Card by providing their customers with membership. We already collaborate with companies in the maritime, travel, hospitality and energy sectors, with proven results. Our partnerships help to shape the customer experience and even save lives. Cathrine Mo Torvund, Managing Director at Maritime Medicine, said, “We are thrilled with the partnership with World Medical Card. It makes perfect sense to protect our customers and offer them more safety solutions. We know they will see the benefits of the membership, which we are proud to offer.”

Earn commission on WMC sales by offering your customers the benefits of World Medical Card membership.

Smarter In‑room Entertainment for Modern Hotels

- HOTEL TV COMPANY -

Guest expectations have changed. Today, the in room TV is no longer just a screen for live channels. It is a familiar comfort, a way to unwind after check in, and increasingly a gateway to streaming, hotel information and brand experience. For hoteliers, that shift brings a simple challenge: how do you deliver a modern, reliable guest experience across every room, without creating extra work for your teams or ripping out existing infrastructure?

Hotel TV Company is a UK supplier and systems integrator specialising in hospitality TVs, fully managed hotel TV systems and in room entertainment. Established in 2009, the business has supported hotels nationwide with projects ranging from single boutique properties to multi site estates. With more than 16 years in hospitality technology, the team has installed, sold or supported over 100,000 units and serviced more than 15,000 bedrooms, helping hotels modernise their in room technology while keeping operations smooth day to day.

What sets a successful install apart is the planning. Every property is different, so Hotel TV Company starts with how the building actually works: the existing cabling, network capacity, distribution method and room layouts. From there, solutions are designed to suit the hotel’s brand, budget and infrastructure, whether the requirement is an IP based environment, a more traditional RF set up, or a hybrid approach that supports future upgrades. The goal is always the same: consistent performance,

minimal disruption during installation, and a system that scales as the property grows.

The core offering includes hospitality TVs from leading brands, paired with a managed TV platform that makes content simple to control. Branded welcome screens, guest information, promotional messaging and service highlights can be delivered to every room from one intuitive dashboard. For hotels, this creates a stronger first impression and a practical way to communicate, from breakfast times and spa availability to events, upgrades and seasonal offers.

Beyond the guest room TV, Hotel TV Company also provides casting solutions, digital signage, TV channel packages and distribution built for reliability. Casting gives guests the freedom to watch their own content on the big screen, while keeping privacy and security front of mind. Digital signage supports front of house communication, wayfinding and promotions, helping create a joined up experience from reception to room.

Just as important as the technology is the support behind it. Hotel TV Company designs, installs and supports solutions with long term performance in mind, offering ongoing assistance to keep systems running smoothly and to help hotels get more value from their investment over time.
