Welcome to our Winter 2023 Look Book. As a family business spanning 3 generations, this year sees us celebrating 65 years in business, 35 years of these as retailers. During this time we have seen so many changes in both the wool industry and the retail sector. However, our commitment to the New Zealand wool industry and our passion for wool has endured. We are still proudly producing all our garments in New Zealand with our superfine merino garments being fully traceable back to our wonderful growers in Marlborough.

Neutral and earthy tones are popular this season, but you’ll be able to choose the variations of any particular colour to suit your skin tone.

Sustainability

The Merino Wool used in The Wool Company’s Merino lightweights and lingerie is grown in Marlborough. We are privileged to work with several growers who are passionate about producing the very best quality merino wool, by ensuring the sheep are well cared for using sustainable and ecologically sound farming practices. This enables us to produce the very best quality merino fabric to make our popular tops and tees.

Buy New Zealand Made

Our garments tick all the boxes for sustainability, they have long lifespans, as they are used or worn longer than other textile fibre products. The natural fibres used in our garments are fully biodegradable and break down quickly, returning their nutrients to the soil without releasing plastic microfibres into the environment during washing or recycling.

Celebrating 65 Years in Business

This year we celebrate 65 years in business in the wool industry. Forty nine years as wool buyers and processors and thirty five as retailers of New Zealand made wool products. My parents Gordon and Janet Riach started the business in Taihape in 1958. Gordon was a country wool buyer, and his passion for wool saw him being innovative and forward thinking in his further processing of both greasy and scoured wool to improve and add value to the raw product.

In 1988 The Wool Warehouse was established by Gordon, Janet and myself as an outlet for affordable hand knitting yarn. The range grew to include socks, sheepskins, blankets and a few sweaters, all New Zealand made. By 1999 our direction had changed from selling affordable hand knitting to selling quality New Zealand made clothing and yarn, so we rebranded as The Wool Company.

In 2002 we built a new premises to house the expanding range of clothing. Today our range, our mailing list and online shopping site have grown exponentially, thanks to you, our loyal customers, without whom none of this would have been possible. We also have a dedicated team who strive to deliver quality Wool Company service to you.

Now the third generation have joined the team, and so the passion for wool lives on.

Back Orders: If a product is temporarily out of stock you may wish to place it on back order, we will advise the expected dispatch date by email or phone and it will be sent as soon as it becomes available. There will be no additional delivery charge for items on back order.

Your credit card will not be charged for backorders until they are dispatched.

Note: Due to printing process there maybe slight variations between colours shown and the actual garment colours.

Guarantee: It is our aim to provide you with quality New Zealand made products. Should our products or service fail or disappoint you in anyway, please let us know. We will do our best to rectify the problem.

Exchanges/ Returns: We accept returns for the purpose of exchange, garment fault or change of mind. You will be refunded the value of the item at the time of your transaction. Items can be returned within 21 days of receipt. Items must be in original condition with swing tags attached. Any garments without the swing tags attached will only be able to be exchanged or refunded with a store credit. Damaged, worn, or altered garments will not be exchanged, credited or refunded. In the rare event that a fault should appear after a garment has been worn, it can be laundered and returned to us, providing no more than 6 months has elapsed since the purchase date. We will assess the fault in the garment on its return.

Postage costs of returning an item/s will be at your own expense; if an item is faulty, please call us to arrange free postage. No additional delivery charges will be incurred on exchanges. Please include your completed returns form with your garments or yarn with clear instructions.

Refunds: Any refunds will be credited in the same manner in which they were originally paid. i.e. credit card or gift card. Telebanking and eftpos orders will be refunded by bank deposit or store credit. Any refund less than $10.00 will be issued as a store credit.
