s this new generation continues to rise, one thing becomes increasingly clear: impact is no longer defined by age, but by action. We have highlighted some individuals in our cover story who represent more than personal success; they reflect a broader shift in how influence is built, shared, and sustained. Across different industries, they are proving that leadership can be bold, creative, and deeply connected to the moment.
They are united not just by talent, but by intention. Deliberate in their craft, aware of their platforms, and mindful of the narratives they shape, they engage a generation that values authenticity, innovation, and relevance. They don’t follow trends—they create them.

Skirts are one of the easiest pieces to style, but choosing the right length can make a big difference in how your outfit looks and feels. Two popular options are maxi skirts and midi skirts. While they may seem similar at first, they give very different vibes.A maxi skirt usually goes all the way down to your ankles, while a midi skirt stops somewhere between your knees and ankles. The truth is, there is no perfect length for everyone. Once you understand a few simple things, choosing becomes very easy. Here are four clear ways to decide which skirt length is right for you.
Your height plays a big role in how a skirt looks on you. If you are on the shorter side, midi skirts can sometimes cut your legs at an awkward point, making you look shorter. But this doesn’t mean you should avoid them. You can still wear midi skirts by pairing them with heels or choosing ones that sit slightly above mid-calf. Maxi skirts, on the other hand, can make you look taller if they are well-fitted at the waist and not too bulky. A straight or slightly fitted maxi skirt works better than a very wide one.

Different skirt lengths highlight different parts of your body. Midi skirts draw attention to your calves and can show off your shape nicely, especially if they are fitted or slightly flared. If you like to show a bit of leg without going too short, midi is a great choice. Maxi skirts cover more of your body and give a longer, smoother line. They are great if you prefer more coverage or want a more modest look. They also help hide areas you may not want to draw attention to.

THINK
Where you are going matters a lot when choosing your skirt length. Midi skirts are very versatile. You can wear them to work, meetings, church, or even casual outings. They give a neat and polished look without trying too hard. Maxi skirts are more relaxed and flowy. They are perfect for beach days, weekend outings, travel, or when you just want to feel comfortable. However, some well- structured maxi skirts can also work for formal events if styled properly.

Comfort is something people often forget, but it matters a lot. Maxi skirts are usually very comfortable because they are loose and allow easy movement. They are perfect for hot weather or long days when you want to feel free and relaxed. Midi skirts can sometimes feel more structured, especially if they are tight or made with stiff fabric. But they also give a more put-together look.
Choosing between a maxi and a midi skirt is not about following rules. It is about understanding what works for your body, your lifestyle, and your mood. At the end of the day, the best skirt length is the one that makes you feel comfortable, confident, and like yourself.

SALLY CHIWUZIE @unshakable.is.a.state.of.mind
We decided, rather spontaneously, to go to the tulip festival in Amsterdam. It felt like the right kind of escape. Colour, canals, bicycles, and the illusion that life is simpler somewhere else. There were six women and two men, all old friends stitched together by different seasons of life. Some of us had known each other for decades. Others had drifted in later, yet the familiarity was immediate. It was the kind that allows silence to exist without explanation.
If this is a judgment-free zone, I will admit that about eighty percent of us were very high on marijuana. If this is a judgment zone, please forget I wrote that, as my backspace key was not working.
The atmosphere softened quickly. Laughter came easily. The conversation wandered. Someone suggested truth or dare, but we abandoned it almost immediately. We were too old for dares and too aware of consequences for reckless truths. We settled on a different game instead.
Never ever have I.
We agreed to avoid the predictable, sexualised questions. This round would be about friendships, secrets, morality, and betrayal. The things we rarely say out loud.
Never ever have I stayed in a friendship long after it stopped being kind.
A few hands went up.

It questioned my morality, my faith, and the identity I had carefully built. I am deeply Christian. I believed I was grounded spiritually. Then, in a single moment, I became someone I never believed I could be.
It destroyed the friendship. I never told him. I never told anyone. I have carried it quietly ever since, and the silence has been heavier than the act itself. It did not heal me. It did not hurt him. It simply fractured me. She looked up at us.
In that moment of pain, if someone had handed me a gun, I genuinely do not know what I would have done. This felt like the closest thing to pulling a trigger. It was impulsive, destructive, and deeply human. The regret arrived almost immediately and has never really left.

I cannot undo it. I cannot rewrite it. I keep wondering whether confession would bring peace or simply transfer the damage. Do I tell him? Do I carry it? Do I forgive myself? What would you do?
Never ever have I read a message I was not meant to see. More hands.
Never ever have I forgiven someone, but never really forgiven them.
That one drew quiet nods.
Someone else spoke, almost casually. Never ever have I said I would leave if I were cheated on and then stayed.
That one landed differently. One hand went up slowly. Then another. No one commented. The tulips stretched endlessly in front of us, rows of impossible colour under a calm sky, and the game began to feel less playful and more revealing.
Then she spoke.
There is something I swore I would never do, she said quietly. Yet I did it. No one interrupted.
When my partner cheated on me, something in me collapsed in a way I did not recognise. It was not anger, and it was not sadness. It felt like a hollowing out of certainty. I had always believed I would walk away with dignity. I had said it repeatedly. If he cheats, I leave. That was the person I thought I was.
She paused, choosing her words carefully. Instead, I cheated back. It was not planned, and it was not calculated. It was pain searching for somewhere to land. The person I chose was someone he knew. It was also someone I knew. She was a friend.
The air shifted.
It lasted the whole night. The most confusing part was my own response. My body responded even while my mind resisted. For those hours, it felt as though someone else had taken residence inside me. I do not identify as gay, or at least I do not think I am. That is part of what unsettled me. It was not desire for her. It was grief, anger, confusion, and something reckless that I did not recognise in myself.
The moment it ended, the weight arrived. I realised I had crossed a line I had always judged in others.
No one rushed to answer. No one judged. No one attempted to rescue her from the discomfort. We sat there recalculating the lines we had all drawn in our lives, the things we had declared we would never do.
The truth is that life rarely asks permission before it rearranges principles. Pain does not consult morality. Betrayal does not wait for values to stabilise. Even the most religious and morally upright among us remain human. Humanity sometimes reveals itself in moments we would rather not claim.
The conversation eventually moved on. Someone made a joke. Another changed the subject. The laughter returned, but something had shifted. The game had stopped feeling like entertainment and started feeling like exposure.
I still wondered what the others were thinking. Should she confess? Should she bury it? Should she forgive herself? Or accept that some mistakes live quietly beneath the surface.
Perhaps the #Unshakable truth is this. We are all certain of who we would be until life places us in the moment that proves we are something far more complicated.
What would you advise her to do?
See you next week.

Across Africa, a new generation is stepping into the spotlight, bold, creative, and unapologetically driven. They are not waiting for opportunities to be handed to them, and they are certainly not following outdated paths. Instead, they are building their own lanes, challenging norms, and redefining what leadership looks like in today’s world. Their presence is not just being felt; it is actively reshaping industries and influencing how Africa is seen on a global stage. This “next wave” goes beyond age. It is defined by mindset, energy, and approach. These young leaders are products of a connected world, digitally aware, culturally grounded, and globally exposed. They understand the power of visibility, the importance of storytelling, and the value of staying authentic while reaching wider audiences. Whether in music, film, fashion, business, or politics, they are merging creativity with purpose, building platforms that reflect both ambition and identity. What makes this generation particularly compelling is its ability to balance relevance at home with recognition abroad. They are deeply rooted in their environments, drawing inspiration from local culture, yet they operate with a global perspective. Their work travels, their voices resonate, and their influence continues to expand beyond borders. In doing so, they are not just representing Africa; they are redefining its narrative.
This cover story highlights a group of these rising voices, individuals who, through their work and presence, embody the spirit of a generation in motion. They are not simply the future of their industries; they are the present force driving change.
Born Divine Ikubor, Rema represents one of the clearest examples of Africa’s next-generation influence on global culture. Rising to fame in 2019, he quickly distinguished himself with a unique sound he describes as “Afrorave”, a fusion of Afrobeats, trap, pop, and alternative elements. What sets Rema apart is not just his music, but his global reach. His global hit Calm Down became a worldwide phenomenon, while his projects have continued to dominate streaming platforms, earning billions of plays and international recognition. His impact has gone beyond charts, with recognition on the TIME100 Next list, highlighting him as one of the world’s most influential rising figures shaping the future. Rema’s influence lies in how he represents a new kind of African artist, digitally savvy, culturally rooted, and globally competitive. He has successfully positioned Afrobeats not just as a regional genre, but as a dominant force in global pop culture. His sound travels across borders, and his image reflects a generation that is confident in its identity while embracing innovation. Rema stands as a cultural force redefining what it means to lead through creativity. He is not just making music; he is shaping perception, expanding reach, and influencing how African talent is seen on the world stage.

Tems, born Temilade Openiyi, has emerged as one of the most distinctive voices shaping Africa’s global sound. Breaking into mainstream recognition with her feature on Wizkid’s Essence, she quickly carved a space for herself with a sound that blends soul, R&B, and Afrobeats into something deeply personal and instantly recognisable. Her rise has been marked by global milestones. From collaborations with international artists like Drake and Future to winning a Grammy Award, Tems has consistently expanded her reach while maintaining artistic authenticity. Her music resonates not just for its sound but for its emotional depth, often exploring themes of self-awareness, vulnerability, and strength. What sets Tems apart is her refusal to conform. In an industry often driven by trends, she has built a career on individuality, allowing her voice and storytelling to lead. This has positioned her as more than just a performer; she is a creative force influencing how African music is perceived globally. Tems represents a new kind of leadership, one rooted in authenticity and quiet power. She is not the loudest in the room, but her impact is undeniable. By staying true to her sound while reaching global audiences, she embodies a generation that is confident, self-defined, and unafraid to stand apart.
Qing Madi is part of a new generation of Nigerian artists reshaping the sound and identity of Afrobeats. Emerging with a calm confidence, she gained attention through viral moments and quickly proved she was more than a fleeting presence. Her music blends Afrobeats with R&B and alternative influences, creating a soft, emotionally rich sound that resonates strongly with a younger audience. What makes Qing Madi stand out is her storytelling. Her songs often explore themes of love, self-discovery, and vulnerability, delivered with a sincerity that feels both personal and relatable. In a fast-paced industry, she brings a refreshing sense of ease, allowing her music to grow organically while building a loyal and engaged fan base. Her impact lies in how she represents a quieter, more introspective side of African music. She is not driven by noise or excess, but by authenticity and connection. This approach reflects a shift in how success is defined, less about volume, more about depth and resonance. Qing Madi embodies the essence of emerging influence. She represents a generation that is confident in its individuality, unafraid to be different, and intentional about its creative direction. As her sound continues to evolve, she stands as a clear example of how young African artists are shaping the future of global music on their own terms.

Tobi Bakre first stepped into the spotlight as a finalist on Big Brother Naija, where his charisma, confidence, and relatability quickly made him a fan favourite. While many reality TV stars struggle to transition beyond the moment, Tobi approached his visibility with intention, using it as a launchpad rather than a destination. Following the show, he made a deliberate shift into acting, taking on roles that allowed him to grow and prove his range. From romantic dramas to action-packed productions, he has steadily built a portfolio that reflects both versatility and commitment. Films like Brotherhood and Gangs of Lagos showcased his ability to hold his own alongside established actors, earning him credibility in Nollywood’s evolving landscape. What stands out about Tobi’s journey is his discipline. He didn’t rely solely on fame; he invested in developing his craft, understanding the industry, and positioning himself for long-term relevance. Beyond acting, his presence in media and lifestyle spaces reflects a well-rounded personal brand that connects strongly with a younger audience. Tobi represents a new kind of creative, one who understands visibility, reinvention, and growth. His transition from reality TV star to respected actor highlights the power of intention and adaptability. In an industry where staying relevant can be challenging, he continues to evolve, proving that success is not just about how you start, but how you build from it.

Genoveva Umeh has quickly established herself as one of the most compelling young talents in Nollywood’s new wave. With a background in acting from the UK and a clear sense of purpose, she entered the Nigerian film scene with a level of depth and preparation that immediately set her apart. Her breakout role in the Netflix series Blood Sisters introduced her to a wide audience, but it was her performance in Breath of Life that truly solidified her reputation. Her ability to convey emotion with subtlety and control reflects a maturity that goes beyond her years, making her one to watch in an industry that is constantly evolving.
Genoveva’s approach to her craft is intentional. She chooses roles that challenge her and tell meaningful stories, aligning herself with projects that push Nollywood toward more layered and globally competitive storytelling. Her performances are not just about visibility; they are about impact, depth, and growth. She represents a new generation of actors who are globally aware yet deeply connected to African storytelling. With her blend of talent, discipline, and clear direction, Genoveva Umeh is steadily building a career defined not by speed but by substance, positioning herself as a strong voice in the future of film

Kenneth Ize has emerged as one of the most exciting young designers redefining African fashion on the global stage. Known for his deep commitment to traditional craftsmanship, he has built a brand that celebrates Nigerian textile heritage, particularly handwoven Aso Oke, while presenting it through a modern, luxury lens. A finalist for the prestigious LVMH Prize, Kenneth Ize gained international attention for his ability to merge culture with contemporary design. His collections, showcased at Paris Fashion Week, highlight rich textures, bold colours, and structured silhouettes that feel both rooted and forward-thinking. By collaborating with local artisans, he not only preserves traditional weaving techniques but also creates sustainable economic opportunities within communities. What sets him apart is his clarity of vision. Rather than following global trends, Kenneth Ize has focused on telling an authentic story, one that positions African fashion as refined, intentional, and globally relevant. His work challenges outdated perceptions and places Nigerian craftsmanship at the centre of luxury fashion conversations. His impact extends beyond the runway. He represents a new generation of designers who understand that fashion is not just about aesthetics, but also about identity, culture, and narrative. Through his work, he is helping to reshape how African design is valued and consumed worldwide. With a growing international presence and a strong cultural foundation, Kenneth Ize continues to prove that the future of fashion lies in authenticity. His journey reflects a generation that is proud of its roots while confidently building on a global stage.

Adebayo Oke-Lawal, the creative force behind Orange Culture, represents a bold shift in how African fashion engages with identity, storytelling, and self-expression. Launching his brand at a young age, he set out to challenge traditional norms, using fashion as a medium to explore themes around masculinity, culture, and individuality. Orange Culture quickly gained attention for its distinct aesthetic, fluid silhouettes, expressive prints, and emotionally driven collections that go beyond clothing. His work has been showcased on global platforms, earning recognition for pushing boundaries and redefining what African fashion can represent. Through collaborations, international showcases, and editorial features, he has positioned himself as one of the continent’s most forward-thinking designers. What sets Adebayo apart is his courage. In an industry that often leans toward convention, he has remained committed to telling stories that are personal, nuanced, and sometimes unconventional. His designs speak to a generation that values freedom of expression and is unafraid to challenge societal expectations. Beyond the runway, his influence lies in conversation. He is part of a new creative class using fashion not just as style, but as a language, one that addresses identity, culture, and change. His work resonates with young Africans navigating modern identity in a globalised world. Adebayo OkeLawal’s journey reflects a generation that is redefining creativity on its own terms, fearless, expressive, and deeply intentional about the stories it chooses to tell.

Bogolo Kenewendo has emerged as one of Africa’s most compelling young policy voices, bringing a fresh, forward-thinking approach to governance and economic development. Appointed as Botswana’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry in her early 30s, she became one of the youngest cabinet ministers on the continent, signalling a shift toward younger leadership in high-level decision-making. Her work has largely focused on trade, investment, and economic inclusion, with a strong emphasis on positioning African economies for global competitiveness. Beyond national responsibilities, she has been actively involved in international conversations around development, serving as a voice for Africa in global economic forums. Her advocacy often centres on youth empowerment, sustainable growth, and creating opportunities that reflect the realities of a changing world. What distinguishes Kenewendo is her ability to balance policy expertise with relatability. She represents a generation of leaders who understand both the technical side of governance and the lived experiences of young Africans. Her communication style, clear, informed, and accessible, has helped bridge the gap between leadership and the people it serves. Her influence extends beyond formal roles. Through her work across various development initiatives and advisory platforms, she continues to shape conversations around Africa’s economic future. She embodies a leadership style that is collaborative, globally aware, and grounded in impact. Bogolo Kenewendo reflects a shift in political leadership, one that is younger, more inclusive, and focused on building systems that support long-term growth and opportunity.

Ham Serunjogi is part of a new generation of African founders building solutions that address everyday challenges at scale. As the co-founder and CEO of Chipper Cash, he has played a key role in transforming how money moves across the continent, making crossborder payments faster, more accessible, and significantly more affordable. Launched in 2018 alongside his co-founder, Chipper Cash started with a simple idea: free peer-topeer payments across African countries. What began as a focused solution quickly evolved into one of Africa’s most recognised fintech platforms, expanding into multiple markets and offering services that include crypto trading and investment options. Under his leadership, the company has attracted major global investors and achieved unicorn status, placing it among Africa’s most valuable startups. What sets Ham apart is his problemsolving mindset. He identified a real gap in financial infrastructure and built a solution that directly impacts millions of users, particularly young Africans navigating a digital-first economy. His approach reflects a broader shift toward innovation that is practical, scalable, and deeply rooted in local realities. Beyond the numbers, his influence lies in what he represents: a generation of entrepreneurs thinking globally while building from Africa. He understands the importance of accessibility, speed, and user experience, and has positioned his platform to meet those demands. Ham Serunjogi’s journey highlights the growing strength of Africa’s startup ecosystem, showing that young founders are not just participating in global tech conversations; they are actively shaping them.
Naledi Chirwa has emerged as one of South Africa’s most visible young political voices, representing a new generation that is unafraid to challenge systems and demand accountability.
As a Member of Parliament representing the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), she entered national politics in her 20s, bringing a strong background in student activism and youth advocacy. Before entering parliament, Naledi made her mark through activism, particularly during the #FeesMustFall movement, where she championed access to education and equitable opportunities for young South Africans. That foundation continues to shape her political approach, direct, vocal, and deeply rooted in social justice. In parliament, she has been known for her bold contributions, often addressing issues around inequality, governance, and youth inclusion with clarity and conviction. What sets Naledi apart is her ability to connect with a younger demographic that often feels disconnected from traditional politics. She speaks in a language that resonates, using both formal platforms and digital spaces to engage, inform, and mobilise. Her presence reflects a shift in how political influence is exercised, less distant, more accessible, and more responsive to real-time issues.

Her impact goes beyond speeches and policy debates. She represents a growing demand for representation that mirrors the realities of Africa’s youth population. Through her work, she is helping to reshape perceptions of political leadership, showing that it can be dynamic, outspoken, and closely tied to the people it serves. Naledi Chirwa’s journey reflects a generation that is no longer waiting to be included in decision-making; they are stepping forward and actively shaping it.
An African entrepreneur building solutions that directly impact everyday life, Gregory Rockson is the co-founder and CEO of mPharma. He has focused on one of the continent’s most critical challenges, access to affordable, reliable medication. Founded in 2013, mPharma began with a mission to streamline the pharmaceutical supply chain and reduce the cost of essential drugs. Under Rockson’s leadership, the company has expanded across multiple African countries, partnering with pharmacies and hospitals to improve inventory management, ensure drug quality, and make medication more accessible to patients. His work has helped modernise a fragmented system, bringing efficiency and trust into healthcare delivery. What sets Gregory Rockson apart is his ability to combine business with impact. Rather than building purely for profit, he has created a model that prioritises accessibility and sustainability, ensuring that more people can receive the care they need without unnecessary barriers. His approach reflects a deeper understanding of local challenges and a commitment to solving them at scale. Beyond mPharma, his influence extends to the broader conversation around healthcare innovation in Africa. He represents a shift toward entrepreneurs who are not only building successful companies but are also addressing systemic issues with practical, technology-driven solutions. Gregory Rockson’s journey reflects a generation that is redefining leadership through impact, where success is measured not just by growth but by the real difference made in people’s lives.

As the continent continues to evolve, voices like these will play an even greater role in shaping its direction. They are already influencing conversations, opening doors, and setting new standards across industries. The next wave is not approaching; it is already here. And through their work, their vision, and their influence, these young leaders are not just participating in change; they are driving it with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

Skincare does not have to be complicated. Sometimes, one good ingredient can make a big difference. One of those ingredients is niacinamide, a form of vitamin B3 that works well for many skin types. It helps control oil, reduce the look of pores, calm redness, and improve uneven skin tone. It is also gentle, which makes it easy to add to almost any routine. In this article, we will show you five simple ways to include it in your skincare routine.

One easy way to incorporate niacinamide into your routine is to use a cleanser that contains it. While the main job of a cleanser is to remove dirt, oil, and sweat from the skin, a niacinamide cleanser can also help calm the skin and control excess oil. This is especially helpful for people with oily or acne-prone skin. Even though cleansers are washed off quickly, they can still support your skincare routine by providing your skin with a gentle dose of this beneficial ingredient.

A serum is one of the most effective ways to enjoy the benefits of niacinamide. Serums are light and absorb quickly into the skin, which helps the ingredients work more effectively. A niacinamide serum can help reduce the appearance of pores, balance oil production, and improve uneven skin tone. It is usually applied after cleansing and before moisturiser. With regular use, it can help the skin look smoother and healthier.

USE
Another simple way to use niacinamide is through your moisturiser. A moisturiser with niacinamide not only hydrates the skin but also helps strengthen the skin barrier. The skin barrier protects the skin from dryness, pollution, and other environmental stress. This option is perfect for people who prefer a simple routine because they can moisturise their skin and still enjoy the benefits of niacinamide at the same time.

Niacinamide can also be found in products like toners, face masks, and spot treatments. These products are often used to target specific skin concerns such as dark spots, acne, or dull skin. For example, a face mask with niacinamide can give the skin an extra boost and help brighten the complexion. These treatments are usually used a few times a week to support your regular routine.

niacinamide to your routine is through a toner. Toners are applied after cleansing and help prepare the skin for the products that follow. A toner with niacinamide can help balance the skin, reduce excess oil, and calm irritation. It also helps the skin absorb serums and moisturisers better. Using a niacinamide toner regularly can leave the skin looking fresh, smooth, and more evenly toned.

Niacinamide is a gentle and effective ingredient that can easily fit into different parts of your skincare routine. Whether you use it in a cleanser, serum, moisturiser, or treatment product, regular use can help improve your skin's overall health and appearance.

You weren’t thinking about it.
That’s what made it strange. It didn’t come through a song. Or a conversation.
Or watching someone else do the thing you once said you would do. You were just… doing something ordinary.
Waiting for a meeting to start.
Sitting in traffic.
Folding something you’ve folded a hundred times before.
And then it passed through.
So quickly, you almost missed it. A direction your mind started moving in before it caught itself. You pause.
Just for a second.
Because something about it feels familiar.
Not new.
Just unfamiliar with how long it has been.
You don’t name it.
You already know what happens when you do.
If you look at it directly, it might ask something of you.
So you don’t. You go back to what you were doing. Answer the message. Adjust your seat. Look up when someone speaks.

Nothing harsh.
But it doesn’t leave completely. It stays somewhere just beneath the surface. Quiet.
Uninsistent.
And then, slowly, it settles into place. Not as an idea.
As something you used to want. You didn’t decide to stop wanting it. There was no moment.
No clear point where you said, this is no longer for me.
It just became harder to say out loud. At first, you mentioned it.
The way you say something you’re still trying on. Lightly. Casually. Like it didn’t matter too much. And each time, it was met with something reasonable.
A question. A concern.
A better option.
A more practical path.
And that’s what made it harder to argue with. It wasn’t cruelty. It was care that didn’t quite know what to do with what you wanted. So it offered you something it could hold instead. Something clearer. Something that made sense. Something you could explain.
And you took it. Because the thing you wanted didn’t come with answers. And this one did.
So you adjusted. A little at first.
Then a little more.
It didn’t go anywhere.
It just moved. From conversation to thought. From thought to something quieter. Until it became something you stopped reaching for.
Not because you stopped wanting it. Because wanting it out loud started to feel like more effort than it was worth.

So life filled in around it. The plans that made more sense. The version of things that didn’t need explanation.
And you became good at that version. Actually good. Not pretending. Not forcing it.

And at some point, you stopped mentioning it. Not as a decision.
Just… gradually.
Just… living there. And that was enough. Until it wasn’t the whole thing anymore. Until now. This small, passing thought. You almost let it go. But you didn’t. You stay with it a second longer than you usually do.
And that’s enough. Enough to notice: You didn’t stop wanting it. You just stopped saying it.
Even to yourself. Maybe this is how it works. The things you stop wanting out loud don’t always leave. They don’t push. They don’t remind you. They just stay.
The way something true tends to.
Even when you haven’t thought about it in a long time. And maybe that is Luxury Silk.

South Africa: The Crown Jewel
At the heart of African winemaking lies the Cape Winelands. Regions like Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl are internationally celebrated for producing some of the world’s finest reds, whites, and sparkling wines. The scenery is just as intoxicating, endless vineyards framed by dramatic mountains and charming Cape Dutch architecture. A wine tasting in Franschhoek can easily turn into a full day of luxury: gourmet pairings, art galleries, and even tram rides through vineyards that look like they belong on a postcard.

Ethiopia: The Unexpected Elegance
Ethiopia is renowned for its coffee, but its vineyards are beginning to make a name too. The Rift Valley, with its unique microclimate, produces wines that are surprising in depth and complexity. For travellers who enjoy being ahead of the curve, exploring Ethiopia’s budding wine industry offers the thrill of tasting a hidden gem before the rest of the world catches on.

Morocco: A Blend of Old and New
Few realise that Morocco’s winemaking traditions date back to Roman times. Today, vineyards in Meknès are producing bold reds and crisp rosés that pair beautifully with the country’s rich cuisine. Picture sipping a glass of Syrah while watching the sun set over olive groves, with the scent of spices from a simmering tagine in the background. It’s a sensory experience where ancient tradition meets modern craft.

Kenya: Safari Meets Sauvignon
In Kenya, wine trails come with a twist of adventure. Around Naivasha and the Rift Valley, vineyards are sprouting near safari landscapes. Imagine starting your day spotting giraffes and lions, then ending it with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc overlooking Lake Naivasha. It’s this blend of wild beauty and refined taste that makes Kenya’s wine scene so exciting and unique.

When it comes to decorating a home, neutrals are always a safe and stylish choice. They create a calm, clean, and timeless feel in any space. But here's the thing, decorating with neutrals isn’t just about throwing beige or white all over the place. To make it work beautifully, there are certain tricks to keep in mind. Neutrals give you a soft base, but you still need to know how to bring the space to life. Here are five easy, practical tips to help you decorate your home with neutral colours without it feeling flat or boring.
Because neutrals are calm and subtle, you can use a variety of textures to bring the room to life. Think of soft wool throws, linen cushions, velvet chairs, a rattan basket, or a wooden coffee table. Each texture adds something special to the space.

Nature goes hand in hand with neutrals. Adding natural elements like wood, plants, jute, or bamboo helps create a grounded, refreshing feel in your space. You could add a wooden side table or a large potted plant. These natural touches add warmth and personality to neutral spaces, making them feel more lived-in and welcoming.
One of the best things about neutrals is that they let other pieces shine. If you have bold artwork, colourful throw pillows, or an eye-catching rug, a neutral background lets these items stand out beautifully. It’s like giving your statement pieces a blank canvas to be noticed. So don’t be afraid to use neutral walls or furniture as a base, and then add pops of personality through accessories.
Lighting can completely change the way neutral colours look in a room. In fact, good lighting can help bring out the richness in your neutral shades. During the day, natural light can make the space feel airy and open. At night, use warm light bulbs, floor lamps, or candles to create a cosy vibe. Even a simple table lamp with a soft glow can make neutral tones feel warmer. Don’t rely solely on overhead lighting; experiment with layering light in different corners of your room.
Neutral doesn’t mean just one colour. There are so many shades within the neutral family, from ivory to taupe, cream, tan, grey, beige, and even soft browns. Instead of sticking to just one tone, layer different shades to create depth and warmth. For example, you can have light cream walls, a darker beige couch, and soft grey curtains. When you layer these tones together, your space feels more complete and visually interesting.

Decorating with neutrals doesn’t have to be dull. With the right mix of shades, textures, natural elements, and lighting, you can create a home that feels both peaceful and stylish. Neutral doesn’t mean boring; it just means you have a soft and flexible base to work with.

You can’t rise if you haven’t nailed your current position. Be excellent at what you’re already paid to do. Do this by delivering consistent results, solving problems, and adding value. But don’t stop there. Start asking how your department or company can improve, then pitch solutions. Show leadership, not just competence.

Document your achievements. Create a “brag book” or keep a running file of wins—big or small. Include data, positive feedback, successful projects, and new skills acquired. When promotion discussions come up, you won’t be scrambling to prove your worth—you’ll have the evidence right there.

Visibility matters. You don’t need to be the loudest in the room, but you do need to be seen. Build authentic relationships with people in and outside your team. Join crossfunctional projects, attend work events, and contribute to meeting discussions. Let your work and presence speak volumes.

Don’t assume your manager knows what you want. Set up regular one-on-one meetings to discuss your growth and make it known that you’re aiming for a promotion. Ask what you need to work on and follow through. Being vocal about your goals signals ambition, not desperation.
BY JOHNSON CHUKWUEKE
You’ve been showing up, meeting deadlines, going above and beyond— and yet, you’re still waiting for that “We’re proud to promote you” conversation. Climbing the career ladder can sometimes feel like a waiting game, especially when you’re quietly putting in the work while others seem to be getting all the shine. But here’s the truth: getting promoted isn’t always about who shouts the loudest or who schmoozes the boss the most. It's about positioning yourself so well that when the opportunity shows up, your name is the obvious choice. Working towards getting that moment is never easy, but to increase your chances of getting there, here are a few tips on how to secure that promotion without begging for it.

BE A CULTURE ADD, NOT JUST A CULTURE FIT
Promotions aren’t only about skill—they’re also about influence and impact. Be someone who uplifts the team, mentors new employees, solves conflicts, and contributes to a positive work culture. Leaders are those others look to—not just for expertise, but also for energy and encouragement.
In addition, there are times you need to level up outside your workplace. The promotion comes when you invest in growth off the clock. Take relevant courses, earn certifications, attend workshops, or stay on top of industry trends. When you bring fresh knowledge to the table, you make it easy for leadership to see your readiness for more. You don’t need to beg for recognition when you consistently bring your A-game and position yourself as a valuable asset. Promotion is less about pleading and more about preparation. Walk the walk, stay ready, and make it impossible for them to overlook you. Because when opportunity knocks, it should find you already standing at the door.

Sweet meets heat, and the world has never been the same. For years, desserts lived safely in the land of sugar, cream, and chocolate. But today’s daring food lovers are pushing boundaries, mixing fiery spices with classic treats to create bold, unforgettable flavour experiences. Whether it’s a warm chilli kick in your brownie or a surprising peppery finish in your ice cream, spicy desserts bring an exciting twist that wakes up your senses in the best possible way. This trend didn’t come out of nowhere. Around the world, cultures have long paired sweetness with spice, from Mexican chilli cocoa to Indian masala milk sweets. Now, chefs and home cooks are reinventing these traditions with modern flair, turning desserts into flavour adventures. If you’re bored with predictable pastries and want something that makes you raise your eyebrows before you raise your spoon, these are the spicy treats you absolutely need to try.
Here are some fiery desserts guaranteed to set your taste buds ablaze in the most delicious way.
Chocolate and chilli have been flavour partners for centuries, and brownies take the pairing to new heights. A touch of cayenne or fresh red chilli cuts through the richness, giving each bite a warm, lingering heat. It’s the perfect dessert for those who love a little drama in their chocolate.
MANGO HABANERO SORBET
Sweet, tropical mango meets the bright, fiery punch of habanero pepper. This refreshing sorbet starts off cool and fruity, and then quickly surprises you with a satisfying burn. It’s the ultimate dessert for hot days, ironic, but effective.

SPICED CINNAMONCHILLI APPLE PIE
Apple pie isn’t usually bold, but adding chilli flakes or chipotle powder to the filling changes everything. The spiciness enhances the warm cinnamon notes and balances the sweetness of the apples, creating a comforting dessert with a kick you won’t forget.

GINGER-PEPPER HONEY COOKIES
A soft cookie made with honey, crushed black pepper, and fresh ginger delivers a layered heat that builds slowly. They’re sweet, fragrant, and pleasantly spicy, the kind of treat you enjoy with a cup of tea, wondering why you never tried pepper in cookies before.
CHOCOLATE WITH A CHILLI TWIST
It’s simple, classic, and undeniably addictive. Add a pinch of chilli powder or a piece of fresh chilli to your hot chocolate, and it suddenly transforms into a warming, sophisticated dessert drink. It’s comfort with attitude, a must-have on cold nights.

Spicy desserts aren’t just about shock value; they’re about contrast, balance, and adventure. They remind us that sweetness doesn’t always need to be safe; sometimes, the best flavours come from taking risks. Whether you’re a dessert lover looking to switch things up or a fearless foodie ready for your next thrill, these fiery treats prove that heat belongs in more than just savoury dishes. Grab a spoon, embrace the burn, and let your taste buds explore something new.

Ifound out he was cheating on the morning of our anniversary.
I stared at the screen longer than I should have, looking at what she sent him, like maybe the words would rearrange themselves into something less painful. They didn’t.
For a few seconds, I couldn’t breathe. Then I heard the shower running. I wanted to confront him right there in the bathroom, but I didn't.
I placed the phone back exactly where it was and sat on the edge of the bed, staring
at the dress I had planned to wear that evening. Red. His favourite.
We had plans. Breakfast, a movie, dinner at that restaurant he always said was “too expensive but worth it.”
A whole day built on love suddenly felt fake, but I decided to follow through anyway.
When he came out of the bathroom, smiling, towel around his waist, he kissed my forehead like he always did.
“Happy anniversary,” he said.
And I smiled back.
“Happy anniversary.”
I don’t know where the strength came from, but I played my part perfectly. At breakfast, I laughed at his jokes. At the cinema, I rested my head on his shoulder like I had done a hundred times before.
At some point, I even forgot. It's funny how easily love makes you pretend.
By evening, we were back home, getting ready for dinner. I wore the red dress too.
Dinner was beautiful. It was everything I wanted it to be. He toasted us, smiling like he meant every word.
Only if he knew I already knew… about her. About the pregnancy.
We got home late, quiet in that familiar way that used to feel safe. I slipped off my heels. He loosened his shirt and looked at me like nothing had changed.
“You looked amazing tonight,” he said.
I smiled. “Thank you.”
He came closer, touched my waist as if it were natural. Like it was still his place.
And I let him.
Maybe I shouldn’t have. Maybe some people will say it was weak. But in that moment, I wasn’t thinking about right or wrong. I just wanted to feel it one last time. To understand what I was about to walk away from.
We had sex.
“Today was perfect,” he said.
I stared at the ceiling for a second, then turned to him.
“I saw her message,” I said quietly.
He went still.
“What?” he asked.
“I saw everything,” I continued. “And I know she’s pregnant.”
The silence that followed was heavy. Real. Nothing like the silence we shared before.
He sat up. “I can explain...”
I shook my head, sitting up too.
“There’s nothing to explain,” I said. My voice was calm, but my chest felt tight. “I just needed today. I needed to be sure that what we had was real before I let it go.”
He looked at me like he didn’t understand.
“I’m done,” I added.
“Done?” he repeated.
I nodded. “We’re no longer together.”
He didn’t argue. He didn’t say anything. He just stared, as if the weight of it had finally caught up with him.
I turned to the side, pulling the covers over me, my heart still racing but my body exhausted.
Sleep didn’t come immediately. I lay there staring at the ceiling, replaying every moment of the day. And in that, I realised something: I had given us today, all of it, on my own terms.
Eventually, exhaustion won. My eyelids grew heavy, and I let myself drift.

Let’sgive The Super Mario Galaxy Movie this: for a piece of intellectual-property exploitation, it’s created with far more craft and care than it had to be, with dazzlingly colourful backgrounds and action that’s constantly moving forward.
At the same time, it never stops to explain the rules of the characters and their interactions for those of us not steeped in four decades of gameplay. In other words, people who want to see The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will get a full-throttle The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, and for people with no interest in the source material — well, this just isn’t for you.
That refusal to explain itself to newbies is both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, the flick moves at a brisker pace than its predecessor, never pausing to footnote its world-building. On the other hand, outsiders will have to take it on faith that, say, Princess Peach (voiced by Anya Taylor-Joy), eating a magic mushroom will make her grow in size, Alice in Wonderland–style.
The villain this time around is Bowser Jr. (Benny Safdie, which should thrill all the toddlers who loved Good Time), seeking to rescue his father, Bowser (Jack Black), who was imprisoned and miniaturised after trying to kidnap Peach in the previous adventure. Bowser Jr. steals another Princess, Rosalina (Brie Larson), to use her powers in nefarious ways.
Rosalina is “mother to the stars,” and she sends one of her children to find Peach. After Peach departs in pursuit, Bowser Jr. steals her entire castle, including plumber brothers Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day), and the galaxy-spanning chase is on.
Along the way, they’ll encounter an amphibian mobster (Luis Guzmán), omnivore Yoshi (Donald Glover), and a very Han Solo–ish space pilot (Glen Powell) — the arrival of the latter two garnered applause from game fans at
my press screening — while a seemingly reformed Bowser finds himself torn between his son’s desire to conquer the universe and the lessons of friendship he’s learned from his former captors, particularly Luigi.
Returning screenwriter Matthew Fogel makes no bones about the fact that he’s adapting a video game here, with the plotting reduced to pure “go to the place and get the thing.” The two laughs I got along the way, even as a non-player, were couched in familiarity: Powell’s never-do-well is clearly playing off its Star Wars references, and a slow-talking information robot utterly rips off the sloth from Zootopia.
The animators and designers, for their part, have crafted a multitude of dazzling worlds and backgrounds for the characters, from the realism of a Monument Valley–style desert (across which Mario and Luigi ride motorcycles) to a gravity-defying casino where there’s gaming not just on the floor but also up the walls and across the ceiling. There’s also some lovely character design on Bowser Jr., whose wide eyes and quivering jaw communicate his desire to make his dad proud (when he’s not ferociously trying to destroy our heroes with his magic paintbrush.)
Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (who gave the world the brilliant Teen Titans Go to the Movies! before getting mired in Mario world) know where their bread is buttered, reenacting the left-to-right action of the original video game whenever possible so that fans, in turn, can re-enact the “Leonardo DiCaprio pointing at the screen” meme.
And why shouldn’t they? The last few decades of pop culture have demonstrated that, to paraphrase the emperor in Amadeus, people like songs they already know. It’s just a little disappointing that the brain trust behind The Super Mario Galaxy Movie couldn’t throw the occasional bone (or mushroom, or box with a question mark on it) to viewers who don’t already have a high score but might like to join the game.

The fourth season of Invincible is back to wow us once more with a complicated storyline and thrilling premise, exploring Mark and Nolan’s relationship further while leaving us to wonder what is in store for our young hero as a new issue emerges. Meanwhile, a war is brewing on the horizon that can alter the course of life as Earth knows it, making everything even more tense and thrilling as the episodes go on.
As with every season of the show, we see several villains from different “walks of life” arriving at Earth to take the planet over. The series does a great job of painting these different scenarios in completely new ways, so the vibe is different each time. It makes us sit up and take notice of what’s going on. Furthermore, behind every new villain we see the overarching storyline continuing, following Nolan and Mark at different times as they prepare for the inevitable while also dealing with the complexities of their lives.

Nolan gets an interesting change of pace this season, and his relationship with his sons makes for an emotional addition. I won’t get too deep into it for fear of spoiling these moments, but the series, as always, does a fantastic job of blending the personal with the professional. It keeps the characters flying high as they win one battle after another, while the personal moments
Mark, especially, is going through a hard time, and we focus a bit more on the heartbreak of his trauma in this season. Viewers will be able to feel his emotions as he struggles to come to terms with some of his actions. The internal dilemma of taking a life affects not only human beings but also a superhero, who is responsible for saving hundreds of lives. It’s an interesting and well-done topic, and we see Mark coping with this issue in a rather lonely fight.
At least his home life is a place of respite for him, as mom Debbie is finally in a stable relationship, and Eve and he are having a great time, too. There are some problems here and there, but they are merely bumps on the road. His relationship with Oliver is also heartfelt, and you see their brotherly love in some sweet moments. However, there is one little problem that comes out of nowhere for both the audience and Mark, but the effects of it will probably need another season to be understood!

keep them grounded, reminding them of what’s at stake. The season continues to be entertaining, and there is not one moment when I have found myself bored.
Overall, Invincible Season 4 continues to be fantastic and a must-watch for fans of the show.
With the threat of Viltrumites becoming as omnipresent as ever, allegiances are formed that will leave viewers hopeful. There are several humorous moments surrounding this as well, while the fight sequences leave you breathless. Of course, the animation is fantastic as always, and probably doesn’t need to be mentioned again at this point!
Invincible Season 4 continues to keep Mark’s wins and losses at its forefront, creating a humanised superhero whom we can all relate to. He’s a good person, one not without his faults, and that’s probably what makes this series so engaging to watch.
