The 19th annual Challenge Wānaka Triathlon Festival returns from 13 -15 February 2025, bringing together over 2,500 athletes, from school students to elite professionals, on one of the world’s most scenic and challenging courses. On Saturday, 15 February, more than 700 competitors will race in the middle-distance Challenge Wānaka Half, with athletes from New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada, Germany, France, and beyond tackling a stunning swim - 1.9km, a demanding cycle along Wānaka-Mt Aspiring Road - 90km, and a scenic lakefront run - 21.1km. Locals are asked to plan ahead for road closures and delays. To accommodate this event, road
closures will be in place, including a hard closure on Friday (12.00 - 2.00pm) for the Secondary Schools race and Saturday (5.00am - 12.30pm) along Wānaka-Mt Aspiring Rd.
