Thanks to the support of our community we were the Coastguard Southern Region Unit of the 2013/14 Year so join us and celebrate our success at the Melbourne Cup Day at the Lone Star on Tuesday 4th November.

Tickets are $20 all of which goes to the Coastguard and this gives you entry to this afternoon of fun, entry into the draw for a Classic Flights flight and a glass of bubbles on arrival. The afternoon’s activities include a fantastic Fashion and Lingerie Show put on by 47 Frocks and an Auction of some great items. Prizes will be awarded for the best hat, male and female. After the last race Jody Direen will perform. Coastguard Wanaka Lakes started as a Marine Section of LandSAR in 2007

and became a Coastguard Unit in 2011. Since the Unit took delivery of its vessel in October last year our members have trained hard so that the unit is now fully operational. We cannot thank Wanaka people enough for your financial support last year which enabled us to ensure we could equip the vessel well and train hard.

During the week three pairs of Volkl skis that were unsecured were taken from a carport. Approximately 200 litres of petrol was siphoned from an excavator at Hawea. A large plywood and steel sign in the shape of a dog, advertising kennels was removed from the roadside on Lake Hawea - Albert Town Road. A side window was smashed on a large company bus. The bus was parked in a driveway at the time. On Saturday evening police were speaking to the occupants of a vehicle when a male in the vehicle chose to use some abusive ODQJXDJH WRZDUGV DQ RI¿FHU +H ZDV SURPSWO\ DUUHVWHG 7KLV W\SH RI behaviour will not be tolerated. Early on Saturday morning police went to stop a vehicle that was being driven on the wrong side of the road on Anderson Road. The vehicle sped off on to Plantation Road. When police caught up with the vehicle it had crashed into a parked car. The teenage male was arrested for failing to stop and underwent a breath test which returned a positive result of 375 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
