Don’t miss The Pinnacle on Saturday, 8 August, at the Lake Wānaka Centre – an opportunity to hear the personal stories of world-class snow sports athletes who live and train in New Zealand while competing on the international stage. “From Wānaka, New Zealand,” was heard so often in snow sports commentary this Northern Season. Our region was the talk of the snow sports world at X Games, World Cups, Snowleague, Natural Selection, World Champs and the Olympics. We even had two sets of local brothers competing in the Olympics, one set are twins. Zoi Sadowski-Synnott became the most decorated snowboarder in Olympic history with her record of five medals. Plus, she ruled Natural Selection. Mount Aspiring College student Luke Harrold won the overall Snowleague, Luca Harrington won his first Olympic medal, Ben Richards won the Freeride World Tour, and Fin Melville Ives had his best pipe results ever, winning the Overall World Crystal Globe, even though he fractured

his collarbone and suffered concussion in his Olympic qualifying run. These are just snippets of our success stories.Wānaka Snowsports Club alone had athletes represent 6 nations during this Northern Hemisphere season. Dropping Inn’s sponsorship will enable Wanaka Snowsports Club’s celebration event, with organisational assistance from Cardrona-Treble Cone and Snow Sports New Zealand, to be accessible to all snow sports fans and families. Tickets are priced at $10 for people aged 13 and over, and free for children 12 and under. Doors open at 5.45pm for an athlete red carpet event with a drink on arrival. A bar will be available and food will be served during the evening. A silent auction in the Armstrong room will raise funds for Wānaka Snowsports Club’s young athletes. Tickets can be purchased from wanakasnowsports.co.nz Pictured: Olympian Harrington Family. Greg, Nancy and brothers Luca and Benni.
