Parking You can book an on-campus parking permit at the point of booking onto the event online. If there is no option to book parking, that means all of our permits have been allocated and we cannot offer any more due to spacing. If you have not been allocated a permit, please refer to ‘City Centre Parking’ or ‘Park & Ride’ below. If you have been sent a parking permit from the University, please park at the Hospital Car Park, the Dytche Car Park, or Medecroft Car Park, as detailed on the campus map at the back.
Accessible Parking If you require an Accessible Parking Permit or have a Blue Badge, please email Opendays@winchester. ac.uk before the event to receive a parking permit and specific parking on campus instructions.
City Centre Parking If you have not been allocated an on-campus parking permit, or are looking to park in the city, we would suggest utilising Tower Street Car Park (SO23 8TA). This is a 15 minute walk from the university.
Park & Ride/Bus Stop Please make sure to get off at the Royal County Hospital stop, as this sits between both West Downs and King Alfred Quarters.
By Train Both Quarters are approximately a 15 minute walk from Winchester Train Station. We will have a minibus running from the train station to campus until 12 noon.
General Walking Times King Alfred Quarter to West Downs Quarter Approx. 10 minute walk, includes incline. King Alfred Quarter to City Centre Approx. 10 minute walk, downhill. King Alfred Quarter to Bar End Sport & Leisure Park Approx. 30 minute walk.
Minibus Shuttle Routes We have a variety of bus routes running throughout the day. The details of where these minibuses will run are below. These fill up on a first come first served basis so you may have to wait in a short queue, but we will do everything we can to keep wait times to a minimum. You can get on and off at any point on the loop. ROUTE A (9am-2.30pm) (The bus will not go via the station after 12 noon) Winchester Train Station > King Alfred Quarter Main Reception > Queens Road Student Village > West Downs Route A will run approx. every 30 minutes. ROUTE B (9am-2.30pm) King Alfred Quarter Main Reception > West Downs Route B will run throughout the event on demand. ROUTE C (12pm & 2pm) King Alfred Quarter Main Reception > West Downs > City Centre > Winchester Sport and Leisure Park Route C will run twice, at 12pm and 2pm only. ACCESSIBLE MINIBUS One of our minibuses has dedicated space for an electric wheelchair. If you would like to use this minibus to get between campuses, please head to King Alfred Reception (number 12 on the map) or West Downs Reception (number 28 on the map). Please make sure to head to reception with plenty of time as the bus will have to be called, and may have to finish running a loop.

CHECK IN AT REGISTRATION FROM 9am Please ensure you check in promptly upon arrival. Registration points for this event are located at The Food Hall in King Alfred Centre (number 12 on your map), Stripe Plaza (number 25 on your map) and West Downs Centre (number 28 on your map). West Downs Student Village (number 29 on your map) Located behind the Winchester Business School and our new West Downs Centre, there are over 650 bedrooms in houses of six to eight rooms. There is a mixture of en-suite and shared facilities. There will be a tour closure at West Downs at 1.15pm, and tours will resume again at 1.45pm.
Queens Road Student Village (number 18 on your map) Our vibrant Queen’s Road Student Village consists of 399 en-suite rooms arranged in flats of four to eight rooms, with shared kitchens. There are also 24 single occupancy premium rooms which have a larger bedroom space and a double bed. There will be a tour closure at Queens Road at 12.30pm, and tours will resume again at 1pm.
St Elizabeth’s Hall and Beech Glade* (numbers 21 and 2 on your map) There are also catered campus accommodation options available. To find out more information about other accommodation offered at the University of Winchester, speak to Housing in the Advice Fair. * Please note that these options are not open for viewing at this event.
Burma Road Student Village (number 4 on your map) Burma Road consists of 408 en-suite rooms arranged in flats of six to eight with shared kitchens. We also have two one-bedroom family flats, and six bedrooms (and kitchens) adapted for wheelchair users. There will be a tour closure at West Downs at 11.30am, and tours will resume again at 12pm.

Subject Exhibition Speak with academics and staff from your chosen faculty. The Subject Exhibition is located in West Downs Centre and Martial Rose Library and is open from 9am-3pm. Visiting the Subject Exhibition is your opportunity to have in-depth conversations with academic staff, ask questions about course content, assessments, and career opportunities, and gain a clearer understanding of what it’s like to study your subject at Winchester. Some courses offer tours of their specialist facilities following the Course Talk. You’ll be informed during the talk if a tour is available for your subject. These tours are a great opportunity to see the specialist spaces where you’ll study and engage with hands-on learning. Our sport and fitness facilities We encourage you to visit Winchester’s excellent sports facilities, including the Winchester Sport and Leisure Park and the University’s Sports Stadium, both located at Bar End in Winchester City Centre, a 30 minute walk or 10 minute drive from campus.
The Winchester Sport and Leisure Park boasts a 50m pool, 200 station fitness suite, studios, and an eight-court sports hall. Our university Sports Stadium offers a floodlit competition standard eight-lane athletics track and all-weather pitches. Both facilities are home to some of our Sports courses and the Winchester Students’ Union sports teams. Minibus tours for the Winchester Sport and Leisure park will leave at 12pm and 2pm (see inside front cover for details). Across our campus, we have many sacred spaces for prayers, meditation and contemplation that are open to visit during this Open Day.

Our Contemplation Space (pictured right) is found at the West Downs Centre (number 28 on your map) and plays host to personal meditation pods and a contemplative centre. The Chapel and Music Centre (number 6 on your map) is a RIBA award winning restored building in the middle of King Alfred Quarter. Please drop in and say hello. Refreshments will be available during the event. The Muslim Prayer room is located in Winchester Business School (number 26 on the map) in the West Downs Quarter.
