ahamian heavyweight boxer Amron ‘Sandman’ Sands continued his undefeated streak and improved to 7-0 on his professional career. Sands defeated American journeyman Francois Russell via second round TKO on the undercard of Friday Night Brawl, hosted at the Bryan Glazer Family JCC Auditorium in Tampa, Florida. “The fight was interesting. I had a better record, even though he was more experienced, so I was very confident headed into the fight,” Sands said. “We just stuck to the game plan, the game plan was to cut off the ring because we know he’s a mover and eventually I stopped him with a left body shot.” Sands is now in preparation for another fight on October 30 against Larry Knight in St Petersburg, Florida. “With a back-to-back, because my body is still in fight mode I just learn the other fighter, his strengths and weaknesses and it takes me about two weeks to learn,” he said. “Preparing for him won’t be a hard task because my game is already sharp, I just have to study him and that’s work in the film room and the gym.” Based in Orlando, Florida, at Orlando Boxing Academy, Sands continues to build his record in preparation for expansion. “Right now they’re building my record. Once I get to 10-0 you’ll see me branching out and fighting in other states and really expanding,” he said. “It’s a process, getting promoters used to the ‘Sandman’ and where I’m from. All of that is a part of the game - getting me used to different styles, different promoters, different crowds – it’s all a learning experience.”

Heavyweight boxer Amron ‘Sandman’ Sands improves to 7-0 in pro career The 24-year-old made his heavyweight debut with a TKO win over Julio Mendoza at the Lakeland Events Center in Lakeland, Florida, on August 5. He followed with consecutive knockout wins over Eric Evans (November 18 at the Crossroads Arena in Corinth) and Kendrick Houston (February 17 at the Orlando Live Event Center). He spoiled the debut for Darrell Parker with a TKO at the Florida State Fairgrounds Hall in Tampa on May 18. Sands made his pro debut at home on the undercard of “The Backyard Rumble” with a unanimous decision over Jerry Butler on May 26. He returned to the US and scored a knockout win over Cade Rodriguez on July 21. A former basketball player, Sands used boxing to help his recovery process following an injury, but eventually fell in love with the sport. He made the full transition and spent three years in the amateur ranks. “I hope to bring back the glory of the Ali era to the heavyweight division and to be the first Bahamian heavyweight champion. I would like to give the youth another option besides track and basketball as a sport. Baseball is making a comeback as well. ARCHER TO RUN FOR BAAA PRESIDENT By RENALDO DORSETT Tribune Sports Reporter rdorsett@tribunemedia.net BAAA Secretary General Drumeco Archer officially announced his intentions to run for president of the organisation. Archer said his platform is aimed at bridging the gap between the administration and the athletes to ensure a cohesive system, integral for the development of the sport. The first initiative of his campaign was to issue a message to all athletes under the BAAA umbrella. According to Archer, his message to the athletes will be the centre of his team’s focus from which everything that they do will revolve. “Many of you have heard me screaming and cheering your names over the announcement system. I have spoken with many of you privately about your personal welfare as well as your athletic ambitions. “And in all of your moments both bright and dark, I have written you privately to tell you that you are the greatest,” Archer said. “I would be the first to confess that we (both athlete and administration) have a long, long way to go before we collectively can say that we have done all that we can to make our sport the best that it can be. With the good Lord’s will, I am determined to see more of you ascend to the podium, make a living from the sport and in exchange make you, your family and our country proud.” Archer ousted incumbent Carl Oliver 46-36 for secretary general back in 2015 and now seeks the highest office in the organisation. “To do this, I will need you…all of you to become a part of a mission that I call ‘Operation Goat.’ This mission is to ensure that you are our greatest priority, with a primary focus to create better

Saunders catches first touchdown reception of his NCAA career By RENALDO DORSETT Tribune Sports Reporter rdorsett@tribunemedia.net IT was a career milestone for Mavin Saunders while Chris Ferguson and the Cincinnati Bearcats became bowl eligible with their sixth straight win. Saunders caught the first touchdown reception of his NCAA career in his Kansas Jayhawks’ 38-22 loss to the No.8/9 West Virginia Mountaineers in Morgantown, West Virginia. His career-long, 18-yard reception from quarterback Peyton Bender put Kansas on the scoreboard for the first time with 12 seconds remaining in the first quarter. His touchdown reception was also the first to a Jayhawks tight end this season. The graduate transfer tight end has battled injuries for much of the year and has appeared in just

Ferguson scooped up a fumble and ran for six yards. Those are the first yards and first fumble recovery of his career. Cincinnati tallied 446 yards of total offence, including 174 in the air and 272 on the ground.

The total yards marks the fourth game in a row the Bearcats have recorded 400 or more yards and is the third-highest total of the season behind 741 against Alabama Aand M and 659 at UConn. Cincinnati also scored three more rushing touchdowns on the day, bringing its total to 22 on the year, doubling last year’s total of 11. With their win, the Bearcats are off to a 6-0 start, their best start since the 2009 team went 12-0 before falling in the Allstate Sugar Bowl to No.5 Florida. The Bearcats are defeating opponents by an average of 18.4 points per game. In Division II, Michael Strachan continues to be the leading receiver for the University of Charleston Cougars and one of the leaders in the Mountain East Conference. Strachan recorded his third 100-yard game of the

season but his Cougars lost their second consecutive game of the season, 27-26 to the West Virginia Weslyan Bobcats in Charleston, West Virginia, on Saturday. He finished with six receptions for 111 yards and one touchdown. The 6’5”, 205-pound redshirt sophomore also had games of seven receptions for 117 yards, and the season debut of four receptions for 159 yards and one touchdown. On the season, Strachan has totalled 24 receptions for 520 yards and three touchdowns. He ranks second in the Mountain East Conference in receiving average at 21.7 yards per catch. He also ranks fourth in yards and fifth in aveage yards per game. He continues to be a two-sport star for UC and is the defending conference champion in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay.

UB Mingoes defeat Warriors 2-1 in the BFA preseason THE UB Mingoes soccer team - thanks to some great defence - defeated the Warriors 2-1 to remain undefeated in the Bahamas Football Association preseason on Sunday. The Mingoes scored twice in the match at the Roscow AL Davies Field - once from Elcott Johnson in the 35th minute and an own goal in the 70th minute. “Today was a good psychological win because we’ve played Warriors before and they’re a top class team and we’ve drawn them but never beaten them and they’ve beaten us,” Mingoes head coach Dion Godet said. “This doesn’t say that we have a cake walk in the regular season but this says we can climb the mountain and we got to the top today. “It was a good win and a good effort by the Warriors. “It was a good booster for the team.”

Even though Godet is thankful for the win he felt the team could have played better. “I would have like to have seen more offence and traditionally our offence is a challenge as our defence is always rock solid,” he added. “Defence I would again say won the game by keeping the score as close to zero as possible but we need to find a way to produce goals because that’s what wins games.” With a few weeks before the start of the season, Godet says the team still has a few improvements if they want to repeat as champions. “We have to work on our passing and thinking quick,” he said. “That’s the big thing, if we’re going to be top of the league we have to think quick.” The Mingoes ended last BFA season with a 8-1-0 record and the league championship.

TEAM BAHAMAS OPENS COMPETITION AT YOUTH OLYMPICS THE Bahamas’ seven-member team opened competition this week at the third Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos, Argentina. Izaak Bastian swam the first of his four events on Sunday and finished eighth in heat two of the 100m Breaststroke. His time of 1:05.21 seconds finished 27th overall in the field of 32 athletes. Bastian will return to the pool today to compete in heat seven of the men’s 50m freestyle. On Wednesday he will contest the 200m Breast and will conclude his meet in the 50m Breast. Victoria Russell also competes today in the 50m Butterfly. The five member Athletics team of Megan Moss, Shaun Miller Jr, Matthew Thompson, Raymond Oriakhi and Adrian Curry begins competition on Thursday. Sara Knowles (swimming) and Stephen Murray (track and field) are the coaches. The team is led by Chef de Mission Clarence Rolle and assisted by Oria Wood-Knowles. In 2014, the Bahamas captured two medals at the second edition of the games in Nanjing. Both Grand Bahama – Joanna Evans and Henri Delauze – won in the 800m free and 400m respectively. It is the first Summer Youth Olympic Games to be held outside of Asia (also first in the Southern and Western Hemispheres), and the first Youth Games for either summer or winter to be held outside Eurasia. A total of 206 countries participating in 32 sports are competing at the event. Kosovo and South Sudan will make their Youth Olympics debut and it represents the first Olympic participation of Eswatini (formerly Swahili). Senegal as the host country for the 4th Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2022. It will be the first Olympic event in history to take place on the African continent.

SANDS BEER CUP GOLF SERIES A SUCCESS THE Bahamas Golf Federation and the Bahamian Brewery & Beverage Company are pleased with the success of the 2018 Sands Beer Cup golf series. This is the second annual event which allowed golfers to play 11 rounds of golf in six tournaments during the year in Nassau, Freeport and Exuma. The final tournament event was held at Albany Golf Course when Stephen Johnson was able to hold on to his lead and win the Cup with a total of 218 points. Second was President Lynford Miller who made a charge at the end and moved up to beat out Kelsey Rolle who ended in third place with a similar score of 208. For his win, Johnson will be the second name etched on the floating trophy. He also received a weekend stay for two at the Hope Town Harbour Lodge, Elbow Cay Abaco and two round trip tickets on Sky Bahamas. The Gross Division was won by Oren Butler, last year’s runner-up, who finished strong in the last event to edge out Runner Up Pablo Mahmias by 3 points with a score of 200. Stephen Johnson also won the Mid Amateur Division with 218 pts. President Miller was the runner-up with 208. The Senior Division was won by Freeport golfer

Graham Gano’s 63-yard FG lifts Panthers past Giants CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Graham Gano connected on a career-long 63-yard field goal with 1 second remaining to lift the Carolina Panthers to a wild 33-31 victory over the New York Giants on Sunday. Gano’s winning kick, tied for second longest in league history, came after the Giants erased a 14-point deficit. Eli Manning hooked up with Saquon Barkley on a 15-yard touchdown pass down the right sideline — the rookie made a long dive into the end zone — to put the Giants in front 31-30 with 1:08 remaining. Gano’s previous career long was 59 yards. He was 4 for 4 on field goal attempts and has made 35 in a row at home dating back to 2016. It’s the second year in a row the Giants (1-4) have been beaten by a monster field goal at the end. In the third game last season, Jake Elliott of the Eagles kicked a 61-yarder for a 27-24 win. Cam Newton threw for 237 yards and had two touchdowns and two interceptions. Christian McCaffrey had 93 yards from scrimmage and an 18-yard touchdown catch for the Panthers (3-1). Manning finished 22 of 36 for 326 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, both by Panthers 37-year-old safety Mike Adams. Odell Beckham Jr had a big game as a receiver and passer. Beckham had eight catches for 131 yards and a touchdown and also threw a 57-yarder to Barkley for New York’s first touchdown. Mayfield passed for 342 yards and threw a 19-yard TD pass in his first start at home. He completed a key third-down pass for 39 yards to Derrick Willies on Cleveland’s winning drive. (AP) — Josh Rosen threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to fellow rookie Christian Kirk on Arizona’s first play from scrimmage and the Cardinals used five takeaways to get their first win. The Cardinals (1-4) were unable to do much more on offence the rest of the way, with their only other scores coming on Josh Bynes’ fumble return for a TD and David Johnson TD runs on two short drives after turnovers by the 49ers (1-4). Detroit (2-3) earned a win it desperately needed under first-year coach Matt Patricia, going into its bye week. Green Bay (2-2-1) could not overcome uncharacteristic mistakes by veteran kicker Mason Crosby and two-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, who lost two fumbles for just the third time in his 14-year career. Darnold also had a TD toss to Terrelle Pryor that sealed the game late in the fourth quarter for the Jets (2-3). The rookie quarterback finished 10 of 22 for 198 yards and the three scores with an interception to help New York to its first win since the season opener. Crowell needed just

The Jets’ defence came up big, too, while playing without coordinator Kacy Rodgers, who is dealing with what coach Todd Bowles has called a “serious” illness. Bowles ran the defence against the Broncos and the Jets kept the pressure on Keenum all game, sacking him four times, two by Leonard Williams. They nearly had one more big play when Marcus Maye intercepted Keenum’s final pass and returned it 104 yards before being taken down by Courtland Sutton at the 1 to end the game. finished 19 of 29 for 250 yards and three scores, including a 9-yard strike to Brown in the third quarter and a 47-yard dart to the All-Pro wide receiver early in the fourth as Pittsburgh (2-2-1) put together its most complete performance of the season. Brown caught six passes for 101 yards. His two touchdowns gave him 64 in his career, moving him past Hall of Famer John Stallworth and into second place on the franchise’s alltime TD reception list. Buffalo’s defence forced three turnovers, and LeSean McCoy broke from a September slump with a season-best 85 yards rushing. McCoy sparked the decisive drive with a 13-yard catch on third-and-3. And backup running back Chris Ivory had a 9-yard run in getting the Bills across midfield. Rookie quarterback Josh Allen scored on a 14-yard touchdown run but was held in check as a passer. Plenty of long balls. Another deep run in the postseason. Next stop, the NL Championship Series for the third year in a row. Machado drove in four runs — three of them with a seventh-inning shot into the left-field seats — and the Dodgers finished off the Atlanta Braves with a 6-2 victory yesterday in the NL Division Series. Los Angeles took the best-of-five series 3-1 and advanced to face the Brewers. Game 1 is Friday night in Milwaukee. Coming off a tense victory in Game 3, the Baby Braves grabbed the lead on pinch-hitter Kurt Suzuki’s two-run single in the fourth. But David Freese, the 2011 World Series MVP with St Louis, came through again in the postseason. He delivered a pinch-hit single of his own in the sixth off Jonny Venters (0-1), driving home Cody Bellinger and Yasiel Puig for a 3-2 lead with a grounder past backup shortstop Charlie Culberson after Atlanta allowed Puig to steal second uncontested. Machado finished off Atlanta in the seventh, launching a 1-2 pitch from rookie Chad Sobotka over the Dodgers’ bullpen — his team’s eighth homer of the series. A free-agent-to-be acquired from Baltimore in July, Machado also had a run-scoring double in the first. Atlanta’s return to the postseason for the first time since 2013 yielded a familiar result: another postseason defeat. The Braves have lost nine straight playoff appearances, their last victory coming 17 long years ago against a team that is no longer in the National League. Since a sweep of Houston Astros in the 2001 NL Division Series, October has been a month of misery for the Braves. Getting back to the playoffs ahead of schedule after a massive rebuild, Atlanta simply didn’t have the experience, depth or power to stick with the power-packed Dodgers. Los Angeles had a franchise-record 235 homers during the regular season and hit eight more against the Braves. WILD STARTERS Rich Hill of the Dodgers walked five in 4 1-3 innings, including a pair leading off the fifth that set up Suzuki’s two-run single. Atlanta’s Mike Foltynewicz walked

four (one intentional) in four innings before he was lifted. TOUGH OUT Hill isn’t much of a hitter, but he sure made Foltynewicz work for an inning-ending strikeout in the fourth. After falling behind 0-2 in the count, Hill fouled out five straight pitches. Finally, Foltynewicz blew a 9 -mph fastball by the .107 career hitter. FIRST PITCH The Braves brought out another Hall of Famer to deliver the ceremonial first pitch. Former Atlanta manager Bobby Cox one-hopped his toss to the plate but still received a big ovation from the Atlanta crowd. Chipper Jones threw out the first pitch before Game 3. SMALLER CROWD The announced crowd of 39,586 was nearly 3,000 smaller than the previous night’s record SunTrust Park turnout, perhaps because of a 4:30pm start time that coincided with Atlanta’s notorious rush hour.

OCTOBER ORBIT: ASTROS ADVANCE WITH 11-3 WIN, SWEEP INDIANS By TOM WITHERS AP Sports Writer CLEVELAND (AP) — As his teammates sprayed each other with champagne and beer in Houston’s buzzing clubhouse, ace Justin Verlander stayed clear of the fray and foam while enjoying a cigar. This wasn’t the time to get soaked. Bigger parties lie ahead. The Astros are back in an October orbit. The defending World Series champions advanced to the AL Championship Series for the second straight year — with surprising ease — by completing a division-round sweep of Cleveland yesterday with an 11-3 lashing in Game 3 helped by two key throwing errors from Indians reliever Trevor Bauer. “No one takes anything for granted here,” Verlander said. “That’s the DNA of the guys in this clubhouse. This team has a propensity to do big things in big spots. This is an atmosphere that breeds winning. “We have the most complete team in baseball.” Marwin Gonzalez hit a two-run double off Bauer in a three-run seventh inning, and the Astros

scored 10 runs in their final three at-bats to turn a series that was supposed to be competitive into a complete rout. “We’re the reigning world champs, and we really have a good ability to show up for the day,” Houston manager A.J. Hinch said. “So proud of our guys, the work they put into the winter. It was a short winter for us. As you can see, our guys are pretty hungry to advance.” The Astros moved to the ALCS on-deck circle, where they await the Boston-New York winner for a shot to play for another championship. George Springer homered twice, Carlos Correa hit three-run homer for his first hit of the postseason and Houston’s bullpen combined for four scoreless innings, including six straight outs by winner Collin McHugh, as the AL West champions served notice that a second Series title is on their itinerary. After the Astros finished this demolition of the Indians, they briefly celebrated on the infield at Progressive Field before donning ski goggles in their clubhouse. For the Indians, another postseason ended earlier

than planned. Cleveland was beaten in the first round for the second year in a row — New York came back from a 2-0 deficit in 2017 — and baseball’s longest World Series championship drought will reach a 71st anniversary. The Indians hit just .144 in the series, were outscored 21-6 and have lost six straight playoff games. They were swept for the first time since the 1954 World Series. “We got to go home now, before we’re ready to,” manager Terry Francona said. “That hurts. It always stings. I just told the guys, we’ve got a number of guys that are free agents. You know there’s going to be some turnover, and it’s a real special group to all of us. “So that’s a hard one, when you’re saying goodbye before you’re ready to.” Reliever Andrew Miller, one of several potential free agents, couldn’t allow himself to think about the future while saying goodbye to teammates. “There’s probably a million things you could point to why we didn’t win three games,” said Miller, who was on the disabled list three times this year. “This is isn’t the way we want it to end.”

Erik Kratz then looked straight ahead and saw his reliever standing alone. So he took off for Josh Hader to give him, “the biggest hug. ... Because you celebrate all your celebrations. Because you never know if you’re going to get another one,” Kratz said. Wade Miley pitched masterfully into the fifth inning before turning it over to a lights-out Milwaukee bullpen, Kratz kept up his torrid hitting and the Brewers beat the Colorado Rockies 6-0 in Game 3 on a cool, misty Sunday to sweep their NL Division Series. The Brewers have won 11 straight dating to the regular season and advance to their first NL Championship Series since 2011. They will play the Dodgers, starting Friday at Miller Park — by the time that game starts, it will have been nearly three weeks since Milwaukee lost. “One at a time, man. That’s what we’ve been saying, one at a time,” NL MVP candidate Christian Yelich said. “Focus on the now.”

In between sprays of sparkling wine inside the clubhouse, a chant rose up for Yelich: “M-V-P! M-V-P!” No surprise, after the season he had. But then the team started chanting the same thing for Kratz. “That might be the champagne talking,” Kratz cracked. With manager Craig Counsell making all the right moves, Milwaukee’s pitching staff held Nolan Arenado, Trevor Story and the bruising Rockies to a combined two runs and 14 hits in the series. Of the 28 innings in the matchup, Colorado scored in only one of them. “The story of the series for us was certainly our pitching,” Counsell said. It’s been that way for a couple weeks now, including Milwaukee’s 3-1 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field last Monday in the NL Central tiebreaker. The next day, the Rockies outlasted the Cubs 2-1 in 13 innings to win the wild-card game. Making his postseason debut, Miley toughed the elements — he wore short sleeves when the temperature was 46 degrees — and was even tougher on Rockies hitters. Acquired from the New York Yankees in May for a player to be named, Kratz is making quite a name for himself in the playoffs. He went 5 for 8 in the series. Orlando Arcia and Keon Broxton hit back-toback homers in the ninth off Wade Davis to make it 6-0 and end any sort of drama. Jesus Aguilar had a solo shot in the fourth off German Marquez that Counsell sort of predicted. The Brewers manager said Saturday, “Aggie is going to hit a home run in the playoffs, a big homer with men on base, I promise.” Granted, it wasn’t with men on base. But it was still big and gave the Brewers a 2-0 lead. That was more than enough against a Colorado offense that was shut out twice in the series and hit .146 against Milwaukee’s stingy pitching. Colorado’s three All-Stars — Story, Arenado and Charlie Blackmon — finished the series with a combined five hits.

NEW YORK (AP) — Brock Holt became the first player to hit for the cycle in a postseason game and the Boston Red Sox routed the New York Yankees 16-1 last night to grab a 2-1 lead in their best-of-five AL Division Series. Spurs setback: Point guard Dejounte Murray lost to torn ACL By TIM REYNOLDS AP Basketball Writer DEJOUNTE Murray was driving past James Harden and on his way to the basket, showing one of the skills that made the San Antonio Spurs convinced he’s the right point guard for their team. And then Murray’s knee gave out. In an instant, the entire trajectory of the Spurs’ season might have changed. Murray’s season is almost certainly over, after the Spurs learned yesterday that their starting point guard has a torn ACL in his right knee. The team hasn’t revealed when Murray will have surgery, nor has it determined a timetable for his return, but ACL reconstruction and rehabilitation is a process that typically takes around a full year. “You just carry on,” Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said, standing in a corner of the team’s practice facility in San Antonio shortly after the Murray diagnosis

was released. “He’s going to be out. Devastating injury for him, for the team. But life goes on. Everybody will pick up and do the best job we can to carry forward without him.” Murray, who turned 22 last month, averaged 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists last season. “I assume he misses the season,” Popovich said. In a tweet, Murray thanked people for support and said he’s “been beating the odds and handling adversity” throughout his life. Murray was a second-team member of the NBA’s AllDefensive Team last season, the youngest player to ever earn such a distinction. He was also going to be the starter for a team that is chasing a 22nd consecutive postseason appearance, which would tie the NBA’s record. Instead, the Spurs are likely going to have to choose between letting Derrick White take the starting gig or finding help elsewhere.

“We were already confident in Derrick,” Popovich said. “He’s done a good job for us and he was improving quickly, just like Dejounte had. Whether Dejounte was healthy or not, Derrick was going to play.” Murray became the Spurs’ starter last season, inheriting the role that Tony Parker held for the better part of two decades. Parker left the Spurs in the offseason, signing a two-year deal with the Charlotte Hornets — which means that the only person who started any games at the point last season and remains on the San Antonio roster is Patty Mills. “It’s on us as leaders now, and me, to make sure we get everybody that’s going to fill into Dejounte’s shoes ready,” Mills said. “We’re going to need them.” It has been an absolutely brutal preseason for the Spurs, who were entering a transition year anyway now that the Big Three era is officially over and Kawhi Leonard was traded to Toronto. “Leaguewide, I think everybody, staff and players, you cringe when you hear news like that. Very unfortunate.” Popovich joked yesterday that LaMarcus Aldridge will start, as will DeMar DeRozan, the All-Star guard acquired in the Leonard trade. Many other things, a week away from the regular season, are now unclear. “We’ll figure out how we want to move forward, in a sense that nothing’s in stone,” Popovich said.

Hamilton cruises to win at Japanese GP, closes in on title By JIM ARMSTRONG AP Sports Writer SUZUKA, Japan (AP) — Lewis Hamilton stormed to victory at the Japanese Grand Prix on Sunday, claiming his fourth straight Formula One win and moving a step closer to a fifth world championship. Starting from pole, the Mercedes driver was never seriously challenged and crossed the finish line 12.919 seconds ahead of teammate Valtteri Bottas. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was third,

14.295 seconds back. “The whole weekend has been incredibly strong for the team,” Hamilton said. “It’s a great 1-2 for Mercedes and shows you the strength and depth of our team.” Hamilton has won six of the last seven races and now leads Sebastian Vettel by 67 points with four races left. He only needs to outscore Vettel by eight points at the next race in the United States to clinch a fifth world championship. “We’ve gone from strength to strength as a team,” Hamilton said. “And Austin is usually a

good track for us so I can’t wait to unleash this beast there.” Vettel started eighth and quickly moved up to fourth place, overtaking both Toro Rosso cars that started ahead of him. Verstappen was given a five second penalty for an incident with Raikkonen where he clashed with the Ferrari as he rejoined after running off at the chicane. “Kimi chose the wrong line in the chicane, he could have also just waited for me to come back on the track,” Verstappen said. “We touched a little bit but I really think it’s ridiculous those five seconds.”

INDIA CRUSHES THE WEST INDIES FOR ITS BIGGEST TEST VICTORY RAJKOT, India (AP) — India crushed West Indies in their first test by an innings and 272 runs on Saturday for its biggest margin of victory in test cricket. The hosts dismissed West Indies for 196 runs just 20 minutes into the evening session on day three with left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav returning career-best test figures of 5-57. Ravichandran Ashwin (2-71) and Ravindra Jadeja (3-35) shared the other five wickets as the spinners ran amok against West Indies. Resuming after tea, the match lasted only another 35 balls. India’s previous biggest innings victory came in June when it beat test newcomers Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs at Bengaluru within two days. West Indies made 181 in its first innings after resuming on 94-6 Saturday and was asked to follow on. After India had declared on 649-9 in its first and only innings, it ran through the West Indies batting lineup in 48 overs to set up an imposing 468-run lead. Resuming on 94-6, West Indies showed some fight as Roston Chase (53) and Keemo Paul (47) continued their seventh-wicket partnership from Friday evening and added 73 runs overall with some attacking batting.
