Minnis: Davis ‘running scared’ and Chester is eyeing leadership role By TANYA SMITHCARTWRIGHT tsmith-cartwright@ tribunemedia.net WITH the general election just nine days away, the Free National Movement held two rallies over the weekend in Grand Bahama and Andros, with much of the rhetoric lambasting the Progressive Liberal Party. Prime Minister Dr Hubert Minnis criticised the PLP saying its leader, Philip “Brave” Davis was missing in action while he, Dr Minnis, was laying out plans for the future of the country. “Every night I speak to

you about our policies and plans,” Dr Minnis said while in Eight Mile Rock, Grand Bahama on Friday. “Y’all see Brave lately? Y’all hear from Brave lately? The man gone missin’! This is a campaign for the future of our country and the PLP leader can’t be seen. I hear he is dead scared. “Felicia Knowles makin’ big waves in Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador. So instead of coming and speaking to the whole country like a leader should do, Brave flyin’ PLPs into his constituency trying to save his seat.” SEE PAGE THREE

CULMER SAYS PLP ‘GOONS’ THREATENING ELECTORATE By TANYA SMITHCARTWRIGHT tsmith-cartwright@ tribunemedia.net THE war of the political chairmen continued this weekend with Free National Movement chairman Carl Culmer accusing opposition supporters of intimidating Family Island voters – a charge his counterpart in the Progressive Liberal Party quickly denied. Mr Culmer released a statement over the weekend stating PLP “goons” were on islands represented by PLP leader Philip “Brave” Davis threatening to victimise anyone who did

not vote for the incumbent candidate. In the statement, Mr Culmer said: “It has come to my attention that several senior civil servants and hired PLP goons and troublemakers from New Providence are threatening residents of Cat Island, Rum Cay and San Salvador with impending victimisation if they support the FNM’s candidate, Mrs Felicia Knowles, in the upcoming general election. “Some residents have even been told that they will have to flee these islands because their entire livelihoods will be taken SEE PAGE FIVE

DESMOND - I’M CLEAN DOCTORS CONDEMN BUT WHAT ABOUT PLP? WEEKEND’S RALLIES DEPUTY Prime Minister and Minister of Works Desmond Bannister, pictured, has accused the Progressive Liberal Party of launching a “misleading and defamatory” attack on him in an attempt to distract the Bahamian people. He said he will not respond to the “scurrilous allegations”, adding he is tempted to

reveal the “tens of millions” in corrupt contracts he alleged were issued by the PLP. His statement on Friday was issued after allegations surfaced on social media last week regarding contracts issued by the Ministry of Works and a controversy involving contracts SEE PAGE FIVE
