of Marsh Harbour, Abaco formerly of Man-O-War Cay and Nassau, went to Heaven from her home in Marsh Harbour on Thursday, June 9th, 2022. of Paradise Island Drive, Paradise Island, The Bahamas, who died at Doctors Hospital, Collins Avenue, Nassau, on Wednesday, 8th June, 2022, will be held at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Shirley Street, Nassau, on Friday, 24th June, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Father Anselm Russell will officiate and her cremated remains will be intered in the Catholic Cemetery, Ueberruhr Essen, Germany.

ahamas Faith Ministries International is remembering and honouring the late Pastor Ruth Munroe with its inaugural Family Fun Food Fest in her name next Saturday, June 25. Festivities will take place at the church
grounds on Carmichael Road from 11am to 7pm. This event is named in honour of Pastor Ruth Munroe, who worked alongside her husband Dr Myles Munroe in service not only to their church, but to the country and the world. Husband and wife, along with seven others, died when the private Lear jet they were travelling on collided with a crane and crashed in Grand Bahama on November 9, 2014.
BFM said Pastor Ruth Monroe was someone who believed in family and was committed to seeing that the women’s and marriage ministries at the church were highly functioning, to ensure families were supported and remained strong. Renee Virgil, chairwoman of the BFM Fundraising Committee and vice president of the Women of Excellence organisation, said the
church recently celebrated its 40th anniversary. While BFM has greatly evolved over the years, she said community has always remained its core focus. “Our founding senior pastor and his wife, the late Dr Myles Munroe and Pastor Ruth Munroe, loved to see people at their best; fulfilling their potential by using their talents and blessings to be a blessing to others…Our ministry and its leaders
and followers have been catalysts for change in our communities, our country and the world at large. The mandate of BFM has not changed and the current leaders, Dr Dave and Angela Burrows, continue to press forward. 2022 is our year of kingdom empowerment and expansion, and this event, the Family Food Fun Fest, is a way for us to empower our community,” said Mrs Virgil. Since the church’s inception, Mrs Virgil said Pastor Ruth Munroe dedicated herself to its growth and expansion; she especially focused on the women's ministry, known as Women of Excellence. The upcoming festival, she said, combines all of Pastor Ruth Munroe’s interests, as she was a community-minded person always seeking to help and empower women and families. “With this inaugural event, we hope to represent Pastor Ruth's legacy of excellence and so we are aiming to exceed the expectations of all attendees by offering great entertainment, food options and lots of fun for the entire family,” said Mrs Virgil. The Family Fun Food Fest is a fund-raising community event that has something for all ages

There will be a slam dunk contest at the main stage, as well as a performance of the All-Star Band's drum line and presentations by the fine arts departments of other ministries in the community. The event will culminate with a gospel concert organised by DJ Counsellor. Proceeds from this event will go towards initiatives to help women as well as Youth Alive 2022. Youth Alive is an annual event which seeks to have a positive impact on young people; many past participants have made significant contributions to their community and beyond.

RGANISERS have declared the second annual Bahamas Gospel Music Awards a “phenomenal” experience that successfully recognised the talents and contributions of local artists The event was held under the theme “Legends” and took place at The Myles Munroe Diplomat Centre. This was the first live showcase for the event. “This year's awards show was phenomenal. ‘Legends’ exceeded our expectations and God was truly Glorified,” said Travis Edgecombe, BGMA founder. The awards show featured performances by Cara T Newton, Davian Chase, Landlord, Alia Coley, Najie Dun, Avanti, Stermon, Kenya Ferguson and others. Among the highlights was ‘Mother’ Rachel Mackey receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. Lillian Barrett, LeAndria Smith and Angelica McIntosh sang a medley of her hits as a tribute. There was also a special reggae throwback reunion performance featuring Landlord and NU Generation singing
their hits "We Need Peace" and "Have You Heard the News". Cara T Newton and Davian Chase tied for the Kevan McKenzie Junkanoo Rake n’ Scrape Song of the Year award. Mr Edgecombe said he always had faith that every part of the show would come together seamlessly. “We knew once the restrictions were relaxed, we would receive a larger attendance. What was also a powerful moment was seeing the unity in the room. No matter the denomination, there was an awareness that we serve one God and only he gets the glory,” he said. Mr Edgecombe said he and his team are now already planning ahead for next year’s awards show. “The next award show date will be June 11, 2023, but we have something even bigger planned that will be announced January 2023,” he said. “Our team realised that we could not utilise the same venue again because of the success of the first awards show. So we had to brainstorm which stage would be able to accommodate the aesthetics we wanted for next year. We are already in the planning stages. We understand that next is the 50th Independence for the Bahamas, so we are strategising some ideas for the new awards year.”
