OMEN in need of a divine encounter are being invited to attend a two-day conference that promises to set them free and leave them feeling renewed in their faith. A two-day women’s deliverance conference organised by Dr Gillian Curry-Williams and The Tribe is being held under the theme “Renew, Rebuild, Restore.” It will feature Bahamian guest speaker Minister Kevin Ewing from Grand Bahama. The women’s conference will be held at the Balmoral Club on May 6 at 6.30pm. On Saturday, the event continues at 10am (doors will open at 8am). Understanding that many women are struggling and doing so silently, Dr Curry-Williams, who is an acclaimed author, activist and fashion designer, was inspired to organise the event to help transform and uplift women. She is encouraging all women who are in need of a divine intervention to attend the event. “The conference is important because many
women today are faced with challenges, some are losing hope and succumbing to pressure,’ said Dr Curry-Williams. She is adamant that when women connect, a change happens, hence the importance of good connections and a positive “tribe”. She desires for women to be uplifted and transformed by attending the conference. Dr Curry-Williams said she is also looking forward to the God-inspired word Minister Ewing will deliver. Minister Ewing is wellknown throughout Grand Bahama and the Bahamas for his weekly religious articles. He has his own local radio show called “The Spiritual Insight Show” and has been a guest on many local and international radio talk shows as well as the guest speaker at many local and international conferences, workshops and revivals, specifically for his teachings on spiritual warfare and dream interpretation. He is also the administrator, producer and writer for his blog site, "Journey into God's word”. Minister Ewing is of the view that the spirit world is the parent world to our natural world and whatever transpires in the
spirit world is continuously seeking permission to manifest its will in our natural world. Minister Ewing is further convinced that God has outfitted every human being with the tools of dreaming and that their dreams are spiritual monitors peering into the spirit realm revealing excerpts of what’s pending in the spirit world for their lives or the lives of others. Holy Spirit Anglican Church ministers to the physical well-being of members By Tiffany Grant

eyond catering to its members’ the spiritual being, the Holy Spirit Anglican Church also encouraged their their physical being with health walk. Parishioners tied their laces of their running shoes, stretched and warmed up their bodies before hitting the streets of Nassau. The health walk was held on Saturday, April 23, with a route that led from the church on Howard Street, Chippingham, to Goodman’s Bay and back. “I was happy to be a part of the health walk. I was glad that as a result of the easement of the COVID
restrictions we were able to come together as a church family to enhance our physical well-being,” said Dr Cyd McCartney, a member of Holy Spirit Church. Father Neil Nairn, the new rector of the church, said that the walk was intended not only to improve people’s physical health, but it was also a time to be spent in recreation and fellowship. “Church is all about relationships and family. In addition to praying, and worshipping. I think we need to learn how to spend time together in recreation, exercising and socialising as well,” said Father Nairn. “We are spiritual beings and we are physical beings.

Father Nairn, who has been rector of the church for the past three months, said he is excited to be at Holy Spirit. “I am looking forward to being a rector for everyone and just worship God in the beauty of holiness,” he said.

n John 20:31, the writer explains, “But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messsiah, the Son of God and that through believing you may have life in his Name.” In the Collect (or prayer) for the Second Sunday of Easter, we are directed to pray to “show forth in our lives what we profess by our faith.” What is this new life that Easter brings? RECONCILIATION: It begins with reconciliation which comes as a result of being “reborn into the fellowship of Christ’s Body” as a result of His death on the cross. PEACE: Jesus addresses the disciples in the resurrection appearances with the words: “Peace be with you.” This is intended to calm their fears and ours.
LIBERTY & TRANQUILITY: The Collect for the Diocesan Theme refers to both of these wonderful states as to being a part of the nature of God Who is also described as the Author of Peace. It is that peace, freedom and inner calm that enable us to face “uncertain and trying times.” STRENGTH: We gain strength “to face each day, knowing that You are with us, and that You will never leave us or forsake us.” (Diocesan Theme Collect). DETERMINATION: The High Priest in Acts 2;28 chastises the disciples for their determination to preach about Jesus and to blame the leaders of the Jews for His death. We are to be equally determined to proclaim the Good News of salvation. OBEDIENCE: Peter boldly declares his intention to obey
based on 1 Corinthians 5:7, we are told that “Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: therefore let us keep the feast.” This is a time to sing the praises of God.

God first and his words have been quoted from then on: “We must obey God rather than any human authority.” REPENTANCE: Israel is offered the opportunity to repent (Acts 5:31) and so are we. FORGIVENESS: Our sins were forgiven on the cross and forgiveness is available to us whenever we are willing to confess them. CELEBRATION: In the canticle “Christ our Passover”,
SINCERITY & TRUTH: The canticle continues: “Not with the old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” This is a call to genuine expressions of faith and love. SENDING: We experience an expectation on God’s part that we are to share the truth we know and the peace and love: “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” GRACE: In John’s introduction the Book of Revelation, he says to the seven churches: “Grace and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come,” (Revelations 1:4). Grace is unmerited favour or undeserved blessing. How can we not be grateful!

Young women learn to be confident ‘Daughters of Grace’ All-girls organisation celebrates fifth anniversary
D
aughters of Grace is celebrating its fifth anniversary as an organisation that is touching and shaping the lives of young women to help bring out the best in them. It is a group on a mission to aspire, motivate and nurture young women in the church and in communities to walk into their purpose and destiny. This journey comes with training and spiritual guidance that allows them to become who God has created them to be, according to Pastor Claudell Farrington, pastor of the Little Jerusalem Apostolic Ministry (LJAM), who founded the organisation in 2017 along with her assistant, Shauncey Jones. Pastor Farrington believes that in order to emerge from their teenage years as strong, happy and confident young women, girls must learn to successfully navigate peer pressure and negative messages about girlhood and womanhood. With this mindset, Daughters
of Grace offers training to positively impact young girls’ self-esteem, help with their identity development and the ability to make constructive life decisions. The organisation strives to provide a safe space for the members to open up about sensitive and personal issues, whether it’s spiritual or physical. “It’s important that young ladies are impacted by positive experiences throughout their daily lives,” said Pastor Farrington, who is also the founder of another young ladies’ ministry based in Andros called Kingdom Daughters of the Soil. The Daughters of Grace organisation has been able to sponsor trips for its members to their sister organisation in Andros, which has proved to be an eye-opening, fulfilling experience. The members have also been active with back-to-school giveaways, community outreach, vision board workshops,
etiquette training, and an annual Ladies in Training (LIT) conference. The group has just celebrated their fifth anniversary with a week of exciting activities under the theme “Poised and
Purposed”. The ladies enjoyed fun-filled events such as Praise n’ Paint and an empowerment workshop covering finance and budgeting featuring two dynamic guests. Some of the members of Daughters of Grace
are: Alexandria Mackey, Tanya Demeritte, Nicole Demeritte, Shalisha Jones, Angelica Hamilton, Keishel Forbes, Paige Morley, Kelly Nixon, Antonia Daxon, Ariel Butler, Karon Gordon, Danneka Newbold, Takia Gordon, Anielle Delaney, Ashanti Leadon, Rushan Cooper, Shauncey Jones and Wanda Bain. Ms Shauncey Jones, who has played a pivotal role in the structuring of this ladies' group, said she feels humbled to by the overall support she has received. Investing in young women, she said, is one of the most honorable investments anyone can make. When women feel empowered, she said, the transition to their full potential is undeniably smoother. She believes in teaching them that they are equal, worthy, respected and loved, which helps them to become strong women in society.
