OD says to each one of us: “I have a plan for you.” What thoughts and feelings are evoked by this statement? Let us ponder on it further. 1. “I”: The ‘I” in these words are God’s words. What do you believe about God? To me, God is amazing, wonderful, faithful, generous, forgiving, loving us beyond measure. This is the great I Am who created all things, sent Jesus to die for us so that we may no longer fear death as life’s final answer, and sent the Holy Spirit to be God with us as a constant companion, counsellor and advocate. We all have our own thoughts and opinions on the matter. Whether we learnt about it at home, church, or Sunday School, or from social media, movies, or the market place and basketball court. We may have a committed relationship, or may be totally indifferent, or even angry at some inexplicable experience that wounded us deeply. Who is God for you? Is God a strict, distant, cold, father or a harsh judge? Is God like a loving Father as in the story of the Prodigal Son, waiting, forgiving and restoring you as a God of grace and mercy?
The Lord loves us with an everlasting love, always ready to us in some way as we learn to become more Christlike, and to live an abundant life. “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called

GOD’S PLAN OF LOVE BY REV ANGELA C BOSFIELD PALACIOUS your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate. (Luke 15: 17-24 NIV). 2. PLAN: God has a wonderful plan that is more amazing than we can imagine. In prayer, God reveals part of the plan. For example, God has designed transformation to be a part of the ongoing creative process: a caterpillar becomes a butterfly, oyster makes a lump of dirt into a pearl, a diamond in the rough in the ground becomes a polished jewel. While human beings experience physical growth from infancy to old age, they also can build the kingdom of God in the most amazing ways: The Virgin Mary becomes the mother of the Messiah, murderous Saul is known as the apostle Paul, fishermen become disciples, a prostitute is
celebrated as a prayer warrior: In Damascus there was a disciple named Ananias. The Lord called to him in a vision, “Ananias!” “Yes, Lord,” he answered. The Lord told him, “Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight.” “Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.” But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.” Then Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord—Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here—has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” Immediately, something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he could see again. He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strength. (Acts 9:10-19 NIV). 3. YOU: God has a personal plan for each one of us to become a person of integrity, compassion, love, commitment
and prayer. This is our God who knows us so personally that every hair on our head is counted, and knew us before we were conceived. The Lord loves us with an everlasting love, always ready to bless us in some way as we learn to become more Christ-like, and to live an abundant life: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep. So when he sees the wolf coming, he abandons the sheep and runs away. Then the wolf attacks the flock and scatters it. The man runs away because he is a hired hand and cares nothing for the sheep. “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me — just as the Father knows me and I know the Father — and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.” (John:10:11-16 NIV). In order to hear the plan of love, we have to listen attentively and prayerfully, then we have to obey. WALKATHON participants stop to snap a picture on Crooked Island. THE Royal Bahamas Police Force of the Crooked Island District last Saturday held a walkathon for an issue that is close to their heart. In conjunction with St Paul Baptist Church, they walked in aid of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer awareness. Last March, Sergeant 3374 Campbell was diagnosed with stage four non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma,
a cancer that originates in the lymphatic system, the disease-fighting network spread throughout the body. He is a survivor and a living testimony for others living with this disease. Sgt Campbell wanted to show his love and support by initiating the walkathon, which started at the Colonel Hill Central Park, winding its way through the community
of Crooked Island, ending at the Colonel Hill Police Station. Upon completion, Sgt Campbell spoke to those in attendance, educating them on this particular type of cancer. He also gave them tips on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and told them why it’s important to make exercise a number one priority in their daily lives.

Bishop Simeon Hall releases new book of ‘controversial’ sermons BY JEFFARAH GIBSON | TRIBUNE FEATURES WRITER | JGIBSON@TRIBUNEMEDIA.NET BISHOP Simeon Hall has long been known as a man who doesn’t mince his words. Whether from behind the pulpit or away from it, he has shared his views on many a controversial matter, always ensuring to speak from a spiritual standpoint. Now, the senior pastor emeritus of New Covenant Baptist Church, has once again decided to preserve some of the weightier words from his sermons in a new book. Bishop Simeon Hall’s third book of 14 inspirational topical sermons is now available for purchase. Several of the entries in the book were collected from sermons he delivered throughout the Caribbean, the United States, South America, Africa, and the Philippines. Throughout his 56 years of speaking from the pulpit, Bishop Hall’s delivery and social activism has gained him national and international fame, and even notoriety. The new book is entitled “A Few Reasons You Don’t Look Like the Hell You’ve Been Through”. “The title itself seems to resonate with persons, young and old, who have experienced difficult situations,” he said.

Bishop Hall noted that “the worth of any book is what the reader takes away from the book.”
President of the Bahamas Christian Council, Apostle Delton Fernander, Speaker of the House of Assembly Halson Moultrie, Minister of Education Jeffrey Lloyd, and Bishop Neil C Ellis are some of the community leaders who have given this compilation of sermons their endorsement. Bishop Hall has been called “the prince of preachers” by many who have followed his journey. He has labelled himself the “preacher from Choke Neck Alley”. “This fifth-grade drop-out has preached throughout the Caribbean, in 45 of the 50 United States of America, five times in Africa – indeed on all of the inhabited continents in the world,” he said. When Baylor University published “A Global Anthology” by Professor of Homiletics Dr Joel Gregory – Bishop Hall’s sermon “How to Dance Through a Graveyard Situation” was included in the noted book that literally went
around the world. Bishop Hall said he is of the opinion that a contemporary preacher or pastor must be a man or woman saturated by God’s anointing and a devout student of the Word. Some of the sermons in this book are “testimonies of my own struggles,” he added. “I know what is to fail, flop and fumble. I also know what it is to scale the highest plateau of ecclesiastical ministry. Any reader of this book will see some of the sermons in the book are indeed provocative and controversial.” In the collection of 14 sermons are included the following: “The Rich Man God Called a Fool”, “Why Every Man Needs A Good Woman”, The Angry Brother Who Stayed at Home”, and “Another look at the Guests at the Banquet”. NDER the theme “He’s More Than Enough,” the Love Yourself Holistically Organisation will kick off a virtual version of its annual weekend retreat tomorrow evening. This year, the retreat aims to bring hope and love to a hurting world during these uncertain times. Organisers hope to provide those who may be feeling hopeless, lacking love, or who have lost their sense of peace, with a way to connect to God. Founder of Love Yourself Shena Johnson said the retreat is designed to refuel, rejuvenate, reignite and refresh the soul through music, the Word and fellowship. “We are hoping that everyone that tunes in will experience the love and power of God. We want persons to be reminded that God is indeed more than enough to carry them through this time despite what it looks like. He is Jehovah Jireh, their provider. He is Jehovah Rapha, their healer, and Jehovah Shamma; He is with them. We have always believed in being an organisation that not just preaches and teaches love, but shows love. The pandemic has allowed us to continue to do this,” said Ms Johnson. The non-profit was formed by a group of women who said they felt chosen by God to carry out this specific task. They are known for their approach of addressing the whole person: the physical through their annual fun run/walks, and the spiritual through their weekly fasting and prayer sessions, as well as their annual retreats. Additionally, they also provide financial and health advice during the team’s breakout sessions, seminars and social interactions during their community outreach activities. “Our mission is to reach out to young ladies and women in our society. Our desire is to spiritually reach them in the areas of body, mind and soul. With this being our focus, we decided to launch this platform for women by hosting a three-day powerful women’s conference with inspiring speakers and dynamic events engaging the body, mind and soul. The first conference was held in February 2018, where we hoped to continue in our pursuit of helping to change lives annually,” said Ms Johnson.
“We have expanded our reach to men and women over the years. The organisation has indeed changed over the years. While our core team has dwindled from the beginning days, our reach and persons impacted have multiplied several times over, especially during the pandemic. We have expanded our reach from primarily focusing on women to include men, youth and children.” While this the audience for this year’s retreat will be limited at the physical location, everyone can join in virtually by logging into the Zoom room. The event will also be streamed live on the Love Yourself Holistically Facebook and on YouTube, starting on Friday at 6.30pm with a “But God” praise and testimony session hosted by Pastor Jamal Franklyn, Bishop Helen McPhee and Eustacia Jennings. On Saturday at 9.30am, sessions will begin with speakers Chaplain Davis, Dr Wanda Davis, Pastor Jamal Franklyn, and Nadia Rodríguez Bueno. There will also be a 12.30pm breakout session a 7pm gala on Saturday. The retreat will conclude on Sunday at 9.15am. Love Yourself member Eustacia Jennings said Chaplain Davis has been with the organization since its first retreat, but missed last year due to being quarantined
