Advocacy group ‘VILLAGE ROAD IS SAFE’ questions lack of - DESPITE CAR PLUNGE public outrage By LEANDRA ROLLE Tribune Staff Reporter lrolle@tribunemedia.net THERE were 240 new reported cases of child abuse, neglect and abandonment documented between January and October of last year, according to data released by the Ministry of Social Services. The statistics led to an advocacy group expressing alarm and calling for greater protection for children.

Details on data recorded for November and December were not available up to press time yesterday. But of the 240 cases reported, 75 were cases of sexual abuse, 115 were child neglect and three were child abandonment. The first ten months of 2022 also saw 45 new cases of physical abuse and one new case each of verbal and emotional abuse. SEE PAGE THREE
