“Sheer entertainment” - London’s Evening Standard

Bafta winning star of Ru Paul’s Drag Race, Alan Carr: Chatty Man, and Interior Design Master - Alan Carr makes his American debut at the world renowned Town Hall in New York City.

Alan’s unique style of humour and effortless stage presence has made him one of Britain’s most successful and treasured comedians. With 16 series of Channel 4’s Chatty Man under his belt, Alan has won a multitude of awards including the publicly voted 2015 NTA and a prestigious BAFTA in 2013. This year sees Alan return to the airwaves on BBC Radio 2 with his summer escape show.

From the exhilarating high of his star-studded wedding day to the low of lockdown stuck on a farm, a lot has changed since Alan was last on the road four years ago, including Alan. Nowadays, it’s all about finding happiness and joy in the small things.

ABOUT ALAN CARR

Son of Graham Carr (one-time Northampton Town FC player and later manager) Alan sportingly took on the Arsenal ladies team in 2008 in aid of Comic Relief. He sports some great moves. Watch Alan vs Arsenal Ladies!

Alan has been described as “the spiritual son of Frankie Howerd” (City Life). His formative years were spent working in a supermarket as well as a call centre for lost and stolen credit cards.

In 2002, his Edinburgh Festival show ‘Me ‘Ead’s Spinnin’ earned a four star review in Edinburgh bible, The List, and was the The Daily Telegraph‘s Critic’s Choice. There were no surprises, in 2003, when ‘I Love Alan Carr’ was rated a four star show in both the The Scotsman and The Independent, but it was at the Edinburgh Festival in 2005 that things really started to happen for our Alan. He earned five star reviews across the board in The Independent, The Scotsman and Three Weeks as well as numerous ‘Pick Of The Fringe’ accolades. It was here that Alan came to the attention of the Channel 4 bigwigs.

Alan has appeared at comedy festivals all over the world: Melbourne, Montreal’s ‘Just For Laughs’ and Kilkenny to name but a few. His stand up tours, Tooth Fairy, Spexy Beast and Yap Yap Yap have taken him all around the world from Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island to Tromso in the Arctic Circle; basically if there’s a theatre in your town Alan has probably played there!

Alan doesn’t just perform for commoners, he has performed for her Majesty The Queen at the Royal Variety Performance too!

Alan is Patron of Neuroblastoma UK. Neuroblastoma is an aggressive childhood cancer and the charity fund vital research into combating this childhood cancer.

Alan is always in high demand both as a host and guest right across television. As well as appearing as a guest judge on Ru Paul’s Drag Race, Alan can be seen presenting his hit panel show There’s Something About Movies on Sky One, both of which are set to return for another series later this year. Other recent TV show highlights have seen Alan host Kylie’s Secret Night, Alan Carr’s Celebrity Replay, I Don’t Like Mondays and Alan Carr’s Happy Hour. Alan has also co-hosted four Stand Up to Cancer live fundraising events for Channel 4, as well as appearing on a Celebrity Bake Off Stand up To Cancer Special.

Later this year, Alan will be back on your television screens as host of ITV’s Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow, which will see five of the nation’s all-time favourite game shows return, supersized and reinvigorated for a brand new audience.

TOURS AND BOOKS

Alan’s 2015 tour Yap, Yap, Yap saw him perform over 150 dates across the UK and Ireland culminating in the release of his DVD. His previous tour Spexy Beast Live was a 33-date arena tour. The DVD of Alan’s 2007 stand-up show, Tooth Fairy Live topped the HMV charts and was a Christmas 2007 top seller. Alan can be seen this Autumn touring the nation with his new show Not Again, Alan. He has also released two best-selling books Look Who It Is and Alanatomy.

TOUR THE HISTORIC TOWN HALL

As of Sep 08, 2022

Town Hall has played an integral part in the electrifying cultural fabric of New York City for more than 90 years. A group of Suffragists’ fight for the 19th Amendment led them to build a meeting space to educate people on the important issues of the day. During its construction, the 19th Amendment was passed, and on January 12, 1921 The Town Hall opened its doors and took on a double meaning: as a symbol of the victory sought by its founders, and as a spark for a new, more optimistic climate. In 1921, German composer Richard Strauss performed a series of concerts that cemented the Hall’s reputation as an ideal venue for musical performances. Since, Town Hall has been home to countless musical milestones: The US debuts of Strauss, and Isaac Stern; Marian Anderson’s first New York recital; in 1945, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker introduced bebop to the world; Bob Dylan’s first major concert in ‘63; and much much more.
