“Deconstructing white women and white supremacy has never been more necessary than it is right now, and I am always looking for ways to learn, grow, shut the F up, and listen. This book gives you the tools to do just that.”
–Chelsea Handler
“This book dares to tell necessary truths. The kind of truths that can save lives, and if heard with an open mind and heart — may even help save the soul of this lost nation.”
–Frederick Joseph, author of New York Times bestsellers Patriarchy Blues and The Black Friend
“In their recent The New York Times bestseller White Women: Everything You Already Know About Your Own Racism and How To Do Better, Jackson and Rao are clearly more interested in confronting and challenging the subtle yet devastating ways that racism shows up than soothing, coaxing and coddling individual egos.”
-- Forbes
“...what they’re offering is an opportunity for white women to free themselves and their communities from the toxic ideals of white supremacy and white culture, a message that’s ultimately optimistic and even cathartic.”
-- Booklist
“WHITE WOMEN is not an easy read but is essential if you are dedicated to liberation for all and confronting white supremacy in all the parts of our lives where it hides so easily. This book is not an attack but an extraordinary gift, and I invite you to set your ego aside and approach it with humility and an open heart.”
–Anna Paquin, actress and producer
Since its founding as a nexus for the women’s suffrage movement over a century ago, The Town Hall has been New York City’s premier venue for considering difficult questions of race, economics, and gender. In the spirit of historically famous conversations with social justice luminaries such as Langston Hughes, Claire Boothe Luce, Emma Goldman, Germaine Greer, and Lorraine Hansberry, tonight’s event is an open forum headlined by the political activists Regina Jackson and Saira Rao, joined onstage by the Emmy-winning director Patty Ivins, New York Times Bestselling author Frederick Joseph, and Grammy award winner Angela Hunte. The evening includes a screening of Ivins’ documentary film Deconstructing Karen, exploring Jackson and Rao’s New York Times bestselling book White Women and their provocative Race2Dinner project, designed to inspire white women to confront and acknowledge their own ingrained racism and complicity in white supremacy.

Regina Jackson and Saira Rao are the co-founders of Race2Dinner, where they host dinners with white women to have radically honest conversations about race, racism and their complicity in upholding white supremacy.

In this documentary feature film, white women attend the wildest dinner party of their lives. The main course is a radically honest conversation on racism. While sipping white wine and passing the breadbasket, these women experience an eye-opening journey, discovering how they uphold white supremacy every - single - day. For some guests there are epiphanies, others resistance. But for all the guests, something has changed, and they can never unknow the painful truths revealed over this dinner. Meet the entrepreneurial women behind this powerful work and go deep on WHY this work is worth risking their lives.

It’s no secret that white women are conditioned to be “nice,” but did you know that the desire to be perfect and to avoid conflict at all costs are characteristics of white supremacy culture?
As the founders of Race2Dinner, an organization which facilitates conversations between white women about racism and white supremacy, Regina Jackson and Saira Rao have noticed white women’s tendency to maintain a veneer of niceness, and strive for perfection, even at the expense of anti-racism work.
In this book, Jackson and Rao pose these urgent questions: how has being “nice” helped Black women, Indigenous women and other women of color? How has being “nice” helped you in your quest to end sexism? Has being “nice” earned you economic parity with white men? Beginning with freeing white women from this oppressive need to be nice, they deconstruct and analyze nine aspects of traditional white woman behavior–from tone-policing to weaponizing tears–that uphold white supremacy society, and hurt all of us who are trying to live a freer, more equitable life.
White Women is a call to action to those of you who are looking to take the next steps in dismantling white supremacy. Your white supremacy. If you are in fact doing real anti-racism work, you will find few reasons to be nice, as other white people want to limit your membership in the club. If you are not ticking white people off on a regular basis, you are not doing it right.

Born in Chicago in 1950 Regina remembers an America where everything was in Black and white. Burned into her memory are; the beatings and horrific treatment of civil rights workers throughout the south, the Goodman, Chaney & Schwerner murders, the murder of Viola Liuzzo, the murder of Martin Luther King, Jr. and the murder of President John Kennedy. The violence perpetrated on innocent people going about their lives, by white people. It is these memories that drive Regina to push for real change in America. Which is why she co-founded Race 2 Dinner.

Saira Rao is the co-founder of Race2Dinner, co-author of New York Times Bestseller White Women: Everything You Already Know About Your Own Racism and How to Do Better, Executive Producer of Deconstructing Karen and co-founder of Here4TheKids, a national abolitionist movement to ban guns and fossil fuels.
An Emmy-award winning producer, director and writer, Ivins started her nonfiction career in the investigative unit at CNN in Washington, D.C. researching and tracking campaign donations for world class journalists. The hunt for The Story continues to inform every film and project Ivins has worked on since those early journalism days. Ivins has produced hundreds of hours of documentaries and prime-time television series for PARAMOUNT+, MTV, NBC, FOX, SHOWTIME, OWN, A&E, AMC, CMT and LIFETIME, but independent documentary is where she experiences the most creative freedom to explore bigger questions about the experience of womanhood, our collective humanity and the social contracts we make and keep.

Angela Hunte, a singer-songwriter from Brooklyn with Trinidadian roots, has always been passionate about music. Her childhood in Trinidad fueled her dreams of performing on big stages, and her talent for crafting catchy hooks and demos became widely recognized after she moved to Brooklyn. This led to collaborations with renowned artists such as Nas, Snoop, and Diddy, and she has written hit songs for stars like Rihanna, Melanie Fiona, Britney Spears, and Danity Kane. Perhaps her most famous work is co-writing “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, which won a Grammy award.
Angela’s latest album, “Mango,” slated to release Q1 in 2024, is a reflection of her musical journey and includes collaborations with industry legends like Wyclef Jean and production by a team of Grammy-winning producers. Now, as an executive producer, Angela is poised to bring her creative majesty to the screen with her latest offerings of expressive shows such as ‘Apply Pressure,’ ‘Amplify Me,’ and ‘Kulture.’ Expect her to bring the same level of passion and talent that she brought to your headphones to the screen.

“A phenomenal talent whose feel for classic soul music is bone deep...This woman is on fire.” -- The New York Times Morgan James is a Juilliard trained singer, songwriter, actress and recording artist in New York City.
Morgan is currently on tour supporting her fifth studio album, “Nobody’s Fool”. She independently released her studio albums of original soul music, entitled Memphis Magnetic, and A Very Magnetic Christmas recorded to analog tape in Memphis, Tennessee. Other albums include “Reckless Abandon”, which prompted the Huffington Post to call MJ the “Brightest Breakout Artist of the Year”. In addition to her original music, Morgan co-produced and starred in an all-female concept recording of “Jesus Christ Superstar”. Morgan has taken on full album covers of the Beatles’ iconic ‘White Album’, Joni Mitchell’s “Blue”, Jeff Buckley’s “Grace”, and many more. Morgan recorded two full-length albums with Epic Records: “Hunter”and “Morgan James Live, a celebration of Nina Simone“. All of her music can be found on all streaming platforms, and hard copies on her website or at shows.
On Broadway, Morgan was in five back-to-back original companies: The Addams Family (starring Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth), Wonderland, Godspell and Motown: The Musical, and as a guest at Kristin Chenoweth’s For The Girls. With viral sensation Postmodern Jukebox and with her own YouTube channel, Morgan’s music videos have accumulated more than 285 million views (and climbing).

Town Hall has played an integral part in the electrifying cultural fabric of New York City for more than 90 years. A group of Suffragists’ fight for the 19th Amendment led them to build a meeting space to educate people on the important issues of the day. During its construction, the 19th Amendment was passed, and on January 12, 1921 The Town Hall opened its doors and took on a double meaning: as a symbol of the victory sought by its founders, and as a spark for a new, more optimistic climate. In 1921, German composer Richard Strauss performed a series of concerts that cemented the Hall’s reputation as an ideal venue for musical performances. Since, Town Hall has been home to countless musical milestones: The US debuts of Strauss, and Isaac Stern; Marian Anderson’s first New York recital; in 1945, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker introduced bebop to the world; Bob Dylan’s first major concert in ‘63; and much much more.
