Dopo l’edizione Silver del MAA, il premio che ha segnato la storia ed il successo della Fiera si ripropone rinnovando i fasti delle passate edizioni e presentando al pubblico degli esperti e degli operatori nuovi modi di progettare con la pietra nel terzo millennio. Questo ambito riconoscimento è riservato ad opere architettoniche ultimate che si siano distinte per originalità formale e tecnica nell’utilizzo dei materiali lapidei. La premiazione dei vincitori del concorso si tiene all’interno del Convegno “Pietre che fanno Architettura” dove i premiati raccontano la propria opera confrontando stili e culture diverse e promuovendo materiali e conoscenze tecniche legati ai loro progetti.

Following the MAA Silver Edition, the awards that have been a landmark in the history and success of the fair, are back to present their audience of experts and operators new ways of designing with natural stone in the third millennium. These prestigious awards are open for completed works of architecture that stand out in terms of formal and technical originality in the use of natural stone. The prize-giving ceremony for the competition winners is held during the Conference “Stone that makes Architecture” where the winners illustrate their works, showing their different styles and cultures and promoting the materials and technical know-how related to their projects.

DESIGN AWARD

La 3° edizione del Dressed Stone Design Award è riservata agli studenti dell’università, delle scuole di design, d’architettura d’interni e ai progettisti under trenta. Il tema viene identificato in collaborazione con alcuni dei principali brand del Design Italiano. Condizione del progetto è l’utilizzo non esclusivo della pietra naturale ma in connubio con altri materiali che ne mettano in risalto bellezza e funzionalità. I vincitori vedranno la propria idea progettuale tradotta in prototipo ed esposta in Fiera.

The 3rd year of the Dressed Stone Design Award is open to students at universities, design and interior design schools as well as professional architects and designers under thirty. The theme is selected in collaboration with some of the important names in Italian design. One condition for entries is not the sole use of natural stone but its use combined with other materials that highlight its beauty and functional features. The winners’ projects are made into prototypes and exhibited at the trade fair.

Il premio, ideato in collaborazione con ADI Associazione Design Industriale è riservato alle aziende del settore delle tecnologie che espongono in Fiera ed è assegnato da una giuria di membri ADI per premiare non solo l’aspetto performante della macchina ma anche il suo design.

The Award, created together with ADI – the Industrial Design Association, is open to companies working in the field of technology exhibiting at the fair. The jury, composed exclusively of ADI members, looks not only at the performance of the machines but also their appearance, their so-called “bodywork”.

Another feature of CarraraMarmotec is the presence of some of the most well-known contemporary sculptors from all over the world, who create their art work every day in the ateliers around the Apuo-Versilian area using natural stone. Their work consists not only in the creation of monuments but it is also a contribution to the renewal of areas and buildings.

BY CAR: Carrara is 1 hour drive from Florence and Genoa and 30 minutes drive from Pisa. It takes only 2 hours drive from Carrara to Milan and 4 hours to go to Rome. The motorway is the A12 (Genova-Livorno) exit Carrara, just a few hundred metres away from the exhibition centre.

BY TRAIN: the Carrara-Avenza railway station – on the Rome-Genoa line – is well connected by local transport services to the exhibition centre.
