7.8-MAGNITUDE earthquake hit southern Mindanao yesterday killed at least 31 people after toppling buildings and sparking tsunami warnings across the region, local officials said.

THE official Senate website on Monday updated its roster to feature Senator Sherwin Gatchalian as the new Senate President Pro Tempore, and removed the title of Senate President from the profile of Senator Alan Peter Cayetano. Cayetano insisted however, that he remains the rightful Senate president, maintaining that his adversaries lacked the necessary votes to reorganize the chamber and replace key officers like Senate Secretary Jose Luis Montales with Bantug.
