SENATOR Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa on Tuesday pointed to three reasons for his return to the Senate, citing the recent leadership change and preparations for a possible conversion of the chamber into an impeachment court.

In an interview with TV Patrol, Dela Rosa said the Senate had undergone a change in leadership, which he cited as one of the key factors of him showing up in the upper chamber after being missing in action for the last six months. “Unang una nagkaroon ng change of Next page

ROTECT me.”

Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa made this appeal to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. after the International Criminal Court confirmed it has issued an arrest warrant against him for crimes against humanity. “President BBM, I am a Filipino. I am your constituent…I know you have no personal grudge against me. I hope as a Filipino, you will protect me,” said Dela Rosa, who was identified as a co-perpetrator in the ICC case against former President Rodrigo Duterte. “I hope he (President Marcos) won’t send me to The Hague. You can try me in any court here in the Philippines…Mr. President, if I have any accountability, I should be held accountable in a local

court and not in a foreign one,” he added. Dela Rosa, who has been placed under protective custody of the Senate, admitted he was scared of being shipped out to The Hague. “We are just human,” said the senator, who was tagged by ICC prosecutors as having held a key role in the implementation of Duterte’s war on drugs as former Davao City police chief and eventually as Philippine National Police chief.
