PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said the case was quite unusual even as the police has yet to confirm whether the reported ransom of at least P100 million was paid. "We are not just concentrating

on the usual kidnapping scenario where an individual is abducted and if they are able to give and pay the ransom, they will be released," she said. "This time around -- although we

are still confirming whether or not ransom money was given -- still if the ransom money is confirmed to be given, the victim and his driver were still killed," Fajardo added. Next page

US President Donald Trump abruptly paused tariffs on most countries yesterday after admitting they made the markets nervous, but doubled down on a brutal trade war with superpower rival China. But Trump said he was raising tariffs on China to 125 percent because of a "lack of respect." Trump denied that he had backtracked on the tariffs, telling reporters as he welcomed a group of motor racing champions at the White House that "you have to be flexible." Next page

PRESIDENT Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was not surprised to hear former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque may be behind the so-called “polvoron video,” a manipulated clip falsely portraying the President using cocaine. Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro yester-

day confirmed during a press briefing that the President is aware of Roque’s alleged involvement, which surfaced during a recent congressional hearing of the Tri-Committee. "This is not new. It’s just now that a former ally has publicly confirmed it was Atty. Harry Roque who ordered its circulation," Malacañang‘s spokesperson said. Next page
