NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a public hearing of the qualified voters of the South Country Central School District, Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County, New York, will be held at the South Country Central School District Administration Building, 189 North Dunton Avenue, East Patchogue, New York, in said District on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 6:15 p.m., prevailing time, for the transaction of such business as is authorized by the New York State Education Law, including the following items.

PROPOSITION: Reduction of school bus service for resident students attending non-public schools, effective at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year from 25 miles to 15, which would result in an estimated decreased annual expenditure by the District of $900,000.
Shall the Board of Education of the South Country Central School District be authorized to modify the School District’s current policy for transporting
non-public school students from the current twenty five (25) miles to fifteen (15) miles, effective at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year, thereby reducing the proposed 2026-2027 School District budget in the approximate amount of $900,000, and levy the necessary tax therefore?
AND FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that petitions nominating candidates for the office of Member of the Board of Education of the South Country Central School District shall be filed with the District Clerk of said School District at the District Clerk’s office, 189 Dunton Avenue, East Patchogue, New York, not later than April 20, 2026, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., prevailing time.
