Picture of Success We are pleased to announce Roy Clark as our February 2010 volunteer of the month. Roy was born on Sept. 9, 1930 in a rural farmhouse in the Callahan Township of Renville County, ND. He was raised on various farms near Grano and Carpio, North Dakota. Roy graduated from Lansford High School in 1948. From there, he attended Minot State College for one year, and then taught rural school for one year. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951, and served in Germany as a Russian linguist. He obtained an honorable discharge in 1955. Roy then went back to college, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1959. Roy was named after his father, who passed away in 1941 from brain fever. His mother's name was Ada, and she passed away at 98 years of age. Roy has three sisters: Ethel, Mavis and Helen; and three brothers; Burton, James (who passed away in 1955), and Harold. Roy said one favorite childhood memories involved hunting gophers with his brother Burt, and snipping off the tails to receive a whole two-cents apiece bounty. Roy married Marjorie Satterlund in Minot, on December 23, 1955. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past December! Roy and Marjorie had six children. Their oldest son, Rodney, was born February 6, 1957, and passed away February 14 of the same year. They have three daughters; Vicki, Debra and Shelly; and two sons Randy and Todd. Roy and Marjorie have fourteen grandchildren: seven girls and seven boys with four of those grandchildren being two sets of twins! Roy and Marjorie attend the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, and are charter member of the Korner Lions Club since 1979, and he is a Melvin Jones Fellow in Lions Club. Roy enjoys playing pool, and card games. He also enjoys a variety of sports, including football, baseball, volleyball, and basketball. Roy volunteers at the Williston Senior Center with the "SHIC" program. For Roy, answering insurance questions at the Senior Center is a year-round process, and we at the Senior Center appreciate his willingness to help and knowledge he brings to the people he works with. The First National Bank and Trust, and The Heritage Center are pleased to honor Roy Clark as the February 2010 Volunteer of the Month.

YOUTH ARCHERY LEAGUES Starting February 21st, 2010
INTRO TO ARCHERY FEBRUARY 21ST – MARCH 14TH SUNDAYS 1PM-3PM
INTERMEDIATE YOUTH LEAGUE FEBRUARY 21ST-APRIL 4TH SUNDAYS 4PM-6PM Located at the MBB Indoor Archery Range on the UMV Fairgrounds The Missouri Basin Bowmen will be hosting two youth archery leagues, Intro to Archery and an Intermediate Youth League: The Intro to Archery league will be for anyone ages 8-14 years old who has little to no prior archery experience. ( Beginners), and will run for 4 weeks. There will be a $10.00 fee per league member. This league is fun for all with shooting at life size animal targets. There will be adult supervisors present at all times to help set up equipment and make sure everything runs safely. Bring your own equipment if you have it, but if not, we will have equipment available for your use. Registration will be at 12:30 pm on February 21st. The Intermediate Youth League will be for anyone ages 8-14 years old who has prior archery experience and/or has attended our previous Intro to Archery leagues and wants to shoot with other kids with archery experience. This league will run for 6 weeks and there will be a 15$ fee per league member. This league will consist of 2 person teams shooting for score on lifesize animal targets. There will be adult supervisors present to make sure everything runs safely. Registration will be at 3:30pm, February 21st, or you may pre register by calling Kyle at 572-6162 or 770-8897. We citizens of Williston and Williams County deserve to know where and how our tax dollars are spent. The rapidly expanding TEA PARTY movement underscores the desire to get back to basics and insist on responsibility, transparency, and accountability from our elected officals - from Township Board to US House/Senate. That means CITIZEN representation - and electing those who see the sense in subjecting themselves to the same rules, laws, health plans and retirement plans as the rest of us. We also elect “official” print media in each county who should report to us objectively and truthfully. We need to live within our means and spend within a budget which doesn’t “borrow” from future generations. The TEA PARTY movement is currently the best organization to screen, evaluate, judge, and support candidates who are “right” for this time, and who will support the principles which need to be re-affirmed. A “shake-up” is needed and I’m donating $200 to TEA PARTY WILLISTON to help get it done.
