The Seton Garden

Styled Photoshoot with Victoria Buckley

The Seton Garden and the Leddie Styled Photoshoot: With Victoria Buckley

A Colourful Styled Shoot at The Seton Garden. Nestled on Scotland’s east coast, The Seton Garden is a hidden gem for couples dreaming of a romantic wedding surrounded by history and natural beauty. Its walled gardens, lush greenery, and timeless stonework made the perfect backdrop for our recent styled shoot, a celebration of colour, creativity, and modern bridal style.

We began the day at The Leddie Hotel, a recommended stay for Seton Garden couples. The hotel’s modern and bright interiors provided a great setting as model Hannah Dalziel was transformed by Makeup artist Victoria Buckley, who created a flawless, glowing bridal look, polished yet modern, perfectly complementing the vision of the shoot.

Bringing couture elegance to the shoot, Katrin Designs dressed Hannah in 3 bespoke gowns that flowed beautifully against the garden’s historic walls and the large marquee.

The styling was completed by Green Cockatoo Events, who took inspiration from vibrant, seasonal fruit to create bold, joyful décor full of life and colour.

The entire day was captured through by Romina Key Photography, whose eye for detail and natural storytelling brought every shade, texture, and emotion to life.

The result was a playful yet sophisticated take on a Scottish garden wedding – where timeless romance meets modern, colourful design.

WEE GHOST BEAUTY: GLASGOW’S NEW K-BEAUTY DESTINATION Q&A

WITH LAUREN

Lauren’s Wee Ghost Beauty is bringing the best of Korean skincare to Glasgow think gentle formulas, innovative ingredients, and a fresh approach to beauty. In this exclusive Q&A, Lauren shares her journey, her favourite products, and her vision for a space that celebrates skincare as self-care.

Can you tell us a little about Wee Ghost Beauty and what inspired you to open a Korean skincare shop in Glasgow?

I currently work for the NHS as an Operating Department Practitioner and a casual hours clinical lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University, and whilst I love my jobs, there was a part of me that felt like I wanted more and wanted something that was mine. I would recommend products to friends and family but was always asked “where can I try them first?” and the answer was “well, nowhere in Scotland”. One day my husband said to me “why don’t you sell that stuff you always bang on about?” and within two weeks I had a website set up and wholesaler in Korea

Wee Ghost Beauty was born first and foremost out of my obsession with Korean skincare but the lack of availability in Scotland. I love these products and was waiting for a store to open in Scotland to save me travelling to London just to be able to get a feel for the products. My main focus for Wee Ghost Beauty has always been about providing access to the products and providing an experience for people whether they are new to Korean skincare or have been using it for years It’s not just a shop, what I offer is a personalised experience where people can come in, get personalised advice and try the products, making an informed choice about what they put on their skin.

How does Korean skincare differ from other skincare products, and why do you think it has become so popular globally?

Clear, glowing skin is highly valued in Korea, for both men and women so there is a constant need for innovation. This pushes the skincare companies to continually improve their formulas and technology.

Korean skincare companies conduct constant research into new delivery methods and the best ingredients to use, with products going from the research phase to being on shelves in a matter of months. In Western brands this can take years. It’s also all about the ingredients. What would not be considered mainstream ingredients were often first utilised in Kbeauty, think snail mucin, centella asiatica, fermented ingredients, ginseng and rice extracts. With all the different skin types and skin problems that people face, within K-beauty there is a product for everyone.

As it’s a multi-step approach, focuses on layering mild, non irritating and hydrating products that deeply nourish your skin, more and more people are benefiting from these products.

What are some of the most popular products you offer at Wee Ghost Beauty?

Without a doubt, the most popular product in my store is the COSRX Snail Mucin. It’s one of those products that people have either heard of and are eager to try or just the mention of snails is enough to put people off trying it This product by COSRX is often referred to as the ‘fairy godmother’ of Korean skincare because it has multiple benefits and targets a lot of the usual skin concerns. It contains 96% Snail Secretion Filtrate which is proven to improve your skin tone, reduce redness, reduce irritation and fade dark spots and acne scars. It does this by exfoliating dead skin cells and promoting skin regeneration, and Allantoin and Panthenol sooth your skin during this process.

One of the primary benefits of this product is the deep hydration it provides because it contains Betaine and Sodium Hyaluronate, but without leaving a sticky residue. It gives an instant glow that lasts whilst being quickly absorbed and lightweight. All of this together means it also has anti-aging effects. Suitable for all akin types means that it can be used by anyone (without a shellfish allergy) so appeals to the masses

Secondly would be the Thank You Farmer Rice Pure Gel and Cream. This cream is special because it allows you to customise your skincare depending on how your skin feels each day It has a unique dual textured formula consisting of a lightweight gel and a thicker cream which you can alter the ratios of to meet your skins needs. Gyodong Rice Extract is renowned for its ability to provide clear skin, and this moisturiser combines that with quinoa seeds, yulma seeds and oat shell to help combat excess sebum production and refine your pores giving a smoother complexion. This moisturiser also has centella asiatica in it which is soothing and strengthens your skin barrier.

Lastly would be the Mighty Bamboo Panthenol Cream from Purito. With Panthenol to increase your skins moisture retention and strengthen your skin barrier, and Bamboo Extract to protect against environmental irritants, this gentle formula will repair and soothe irritated skin. Purito products are specifically formulated for those with sensitive skin prone to redness and irritation. Living in Scotland we can be exposed to all four seasons in one day and cause of this our skin can suffer. This cream is my go-to rescue cream anytime my skin is suffering, and it always saves the day, and my skin.

Do you have any specific product recommendations for brides who want to achieve a radiant glow on their wedding day?

Your wedding day is one of the most special moments of your life, and having radiant, glowing skin will make you feel even more confident. If you’re new to Korean skincare, don’t worry! The famous multi-step routine is all about achieving healthy, hydrated, and luminous skin over time. The main thing to remember is that it’s not about being perfect, it’s about being the best version of you! That means something different to everyone.

If you have redness and irritation stick to ingredients such as centellaasiatica, snail mucin, panthenol and madecassoside. If you have dry skin ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides and snail mucin will provide your skin with the much needed hydration it requires. On my website is a blog called “The ultimate Korean skincare routine for bridal glow” with a timeline of when to introduce new products and general advice for you to feel the best on your big day. Remember, Korean skincare isn’t just about the big day, it’s for your happy ever after.

Brides to be can pop into the shop for tailored advice ahead of the big day or message me through my social pages. I’m here to help you have the best relationship you can with your skin.

Can you tell us about any unique or lesser-known Korean skincare products that you think would be beneficial for brides preparing for their big day?

One of my favourite ingredients which is gaining in recognition is rice extract, a powerhouse ingredient known for its numerous benefits. Rice extract is rich in vitamins, minerals and amino acids, renowned for brightening the skin, evening out skin tone, and reducing the appearance of spots and pigmentation.

It is soothing and moisturising, making it sensible for all skin types. Rice Bran oil is renowned for its nourishing qualities, packed with antioxidants and essential fatty acids, it hydrates and protects the skin, maintaining the skin's moisture barrier, leaving it soft and supple. To aid in the brightening of the skin, niacinamide improves skin tone and texture. If you are looking to achieve a brighter, more even complexion through gentle, natural ingredients, look no further than the Rice Pure Range, and other featured products by Thank You Farmer, available in store on online.

Do you offer any special packages or promotions for bridal parties looking to incorporate Korean skincare into their routine?

My personalised consultations are open to everyone either through messages or in person in-store. I am looking into options for after-hours parties which will hopefully be coming to Wee Ghost Beauty soon This will involve you getting together a small group of friends who can come to the store after closing and have a private consultation with access to all the in store products in a relaxed, safe environment.

What Korean skincare trends are you seeing in 2025 that brides might be interested in?

There is huge demand for tailored skincare treatments currently, and Kbeauty is great for having products that let you go about your daily tasks whilst they do all the work Whether its toner pads that can left on as a face mask, or jelly like collagen masks that you can sleep in and peel off in the morning, customers are loving being able to multi-task whilst caring for their skin. Toner pads are great because you can essentially tailor your skincare to your skins needs. Use a hydrating pad under your eyes, a collagen pad on your cheeks and pore care pad on your t-zone I am a strong believer in making these products work for you, and toner pads allow exactly that.

Looking ahead, what are your plans for Wee Ghost Beauty? Do you have any upcoming events or new product lines?

Wee Ghost Beauty has had an incredibly busy opening, and it’s only going to get bigger and better from here on. I am currently in talks with multiple K-beauty brands with talks of expanding my brand and collections so I can continue offering the biggest and best brands to Scottish customers.

There is also Wee Ghost Beauty’s 1st birthday coming up in September for which I am currently discussing options for a celebration event. People may not realise that Wee Ghost Beauty existed before the store opened, and it has grown very quickly into what it is now, and that’s worth celebrating. Keep an eye on the social pages for all the details.

Can you tell us a little about yourself and how you got started in the wedding hair and makeup industry?

Absolutely! I'm a bridal makeup artist based in North Lanarkshire, and I travel all across Scotland and beyond to work with incredible brides on their big day. My journey in the beauty industry began at the age of 14, helping my mum in her beauty salons and assisting her with wedding clients. That early experience sparked a true passion for this amazing industry.

In 2011, I began formal training at college, studying all aspects of beauty and makeup. Since then, I’ve continued to grow and refine my skills, dedicated to providing the best for every bride I work with in this ever-evolving world of beauty.

How many years have you been working as a wedding hair and makeup artist?

I’ve been working as a beauty therapist and makeup artist for 14 years, with the past 7 years dedicated to specialising in bridal and wedding makeup.

Can you describe the range of services you offer to brides and bridal parties?

I offer tailored wedding packages, along with makeup services for parties and special events. With my background as a beauty therapist, I also provide personalised skincare advice and can guide you through the essential prewedding beauty do’s and don’ts.

What areas do you cover?

I absolutely love to travel & see new places/venues so I cover the full of Scotland & destination.

Can you walk us through your typical process when working with a bride from the initial consultation to the wedding day?

During our initial consultation, I love learning all about your wedding plans, from your vision to the finer details - so I can help bring your dream look to life. We’ll then schedule a makeup trial, typically a few weeks before your big day. However, if you'd prefer to have your trial earlier whether to make sure we’re the right fit or if you’re new to wearing makeup that’s absolutely welcomed It’s all about helping you feel comfortable and confident from the very beginning.

As your day approaches, I’ll create a personalised run sheet with names and timings to ensure everything flows smoothly on the morning of your wedding. This is usually sent out 1–2 weeks beforehand. On the day itself, I’ll arrive around 20 minutes early to set up and will be with you right up until you leave for your ceremony, ready for any final touch-ups you may need.

What advice do you have for brides who are in the process of choosing their wedding hair and makeup artist?

There are so many talented artists out there, each with their own unique style so it’s important to choose someone whose work aligns with your vision, and who you feel relaxed and comfortable with. Trust your gut and go with someone who gives you good energy! Be sure to check out their reviews from past brides too, after all - this is one of the most important days of your life, and you deserve to have someone by your side who brings positivity, calm, and confidence to your wedding morning.

Do you have a favourite wedding location in Scotland where you’ve worked?

I honestly love them all! Exploring different venues is one of my favourite parts of the job. Scotland is full of stunning locations. A couple of my current favourites are Dundas Castle and Loch Lomond Golf Club, but every place has its own unique charm!

What are your top 3 products in your kit?

My top 3 have to be all Charlotte tilbury products - beautiful skin bronzer, magic cream & flawless filter.

How can brides get in touch with you to learn more about your services or to book a consultation?

Brides are welcome to get in touch with me via emailMichaela.sands1@gmail.com or via any of my social media platforms @Michaela sands makeup and beauty.

GROOMS WEDDING MORNING SERVICES BY ALCHEME BEAUTY

After being in the wedding industry for years, I noticed a huge gap in the market. All the wedding prep, skincare and makeup was focused on the bride and bridal party, but what about the grooms?

That’s why I created my Groom’s Wedding Morning Services designed for grooms in all weddings, including same-sex celebrations. I felt Everyone should have the opportunity to feel confident, refreshed, and camera-ready on their big day

Since adding this service to my website, I’ve noticed an increase in bookings from grooms wanting that extra level of care on their wedding morning.

On the day, I use premium skincare to prep and hydrate the skin, creating a healthy, natural glow. For those who’d like a little extra, I also offer:

• Brow tidy for a neat, natural finish

• Colour correction to even out redness or blemishes

• Minimal, undetectable makeup for a subtle, polished look

It’s all about helping grooms feel confident and comfortable in their own skin, so they can focus on enjoying every moment of their special day.

In the lead-up to the big day, grooms can also visit my studio for Medik8 facials and skin peels, helping them start a tailored skincare regime that ensures their skin looks its absolute best.

Bookings are taken through my website or through instagram direct messages.

This editorial bridal shoot featured a real couple, newly engaged and very much in love. The bride-to-be wanted something beyond the traditional engagement style, a look that merged timeless bridal beauty with an elevated, editorial edge

Her vision was a soft glam makeup look that felt polished yet effortless, built on a skin-first approach for a radiant, lit-from-within glow. Neutral tones enhanced her natural features, while subtle definition brought a touch of modern glamour. Are you looking at Pinterest for your inspiration? Then stop! While Pinterest is an amazing tool to help you gather inspiration for your hair and makeup for your big day. It's full of AI-generated images and highly edited images, unfortunately, which aren't achievable in real life.

Many of our hair and make-up artists and beyond, myself included, receive AI-generated images every week. Whilst AI can be an incredible tool to use in our current day and age is not where we should be looking for our inspiration.

So, how do we spot AI images?

Some images will now tell you at the bottom if it's AI However, not all of them do. Another thing to do is to analyse the person's skin texture. Many of these generated images have very smooth skin with no pores or imperfections. In real life, everyone has some open pores, little lines, etc. signs that we have had a good time. Also, look to see if the photo seems blurred in any way. Some images may seem almost like there are hand drawn portraits. If it looks too good to be real, then it's probably not.

So where is the best place to look for inspiration?

So, if you haven't already booked yet, think about what style of hair and makeup you like the most. Then google that, for example, if you like natural boho styles, google that. See what artist has that style to build a mood board based on their portfolio. Then, you can be sure there are no AI or edited images involved. And you can be sure a real person created these looks.

Also, look at our directory every image on there is full of high-quality real images Remember that Pinterest can be an amazing tool to help you plan other areas of your wedding such as decor or flowers, just not your hair and makeup.

I hope you enjoyed this edition. Please feel free to reach out to us and if there is anything you want us to feature or discuss, please let us know.

Next Edition will feature our Members Halloween inspired Styled Photoshoot.
