A Creative Collaboration in Glasgow: Inside Our Styled Portfolio Day at Broadscope Studios.

This August, members of the Scottish Wedding Hair & Makeup community gathered for an inspiring styled portfolio day at the fantastic Broadscope Studios in Glasgow.
Designed to bring artists, suppliers, and creatives together under one roof, the day showcased the very best of Scottish bridal talent and the results were amazing.
The atmosphere was buzzing with teamwork and artistry as everyone worked together to create modern bridal looks with a touch of timeless elegance.

The Bride to Be led hairstyling on our stunning model Shannon, creating a modern updo for cool brides who want something less structured and more modern. Michaela Sands was on makeup and brought her signature soft glam makeup style, enhancing Shannon’s beautiful features
Opus Couture generously provided a selection of dresses, that brought drama, movement, and sophistication to each look, elevating the entire shoot
To set the scene, Pretty Little Details styled an elegant backdrop. The colours, textures, and styling touches helped capture the aesthetic we envisioned, clean, modern, and stylish with a romantic twist.
In The Name of Love Photography captured every detail with the stunning images that will become a valuable addition to the portfolios of everyone involved.
The day was not only a chance to create content, but an opportunity for artists to connect, share inspiration, and support one another.
It's collaborations like this that highlight the strength of the Scottish wedding community and the talent we are lucky to have within it.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and how you got started in the wedding Hair & Makeup Industry?
I prefer to be called Tasha or Tee. Mum of three girls, wife to the most supportive husband, proud dog mum, and a Londoner turned Scott, five years and still obsessed with the views
A few of my favourite things. Disney, Taylor Swift anthems Miley Cyrus, all the way back to her Hannah Montana days

Hair has always been my thing My Instagram feed was basically one long scroll of hair-ups, tutorials, and bridal inspo, so when a stylist I followed announced a local bridal hair course, I had to ask about it She encouraged me to join, and I cried the whole way home. (Happy tears. I’d finally found my thing!)
From that moment, I threw myself into learning everything I could and just like that, BHBN was born Now I get to turn dream hair into reality and honestly it still feels a little bit like a fairytale.

How many years have you been working as a wedding hair & makeup artist?
I started my journey back in May 2022 In October 2024 I was honoured with the Best Scottish Newcomer award at The Wedding Industry Awards.
More recently I’ve been training in makeup so that I can offer both hair and makeup services together.
What services do you offer to Brides and their bridal parties?
At BHBN, I offer a luxury styling experience for both brides and grooms because your wedding morning deserves more than just great hair and makeup.
I offer styling for intimate elopements to larger celebrations. Whether you are looking for hair and makeup or hair only options I am also able to organise secondry stylists to assist on the day for larger parties
But luxury means more than styling. It’s about care, calm, and connection. I go above and beyond for my couples, whether that’s helping you into your dress, pinning buttonholes, fastening jewellery, or slipping you into your shoes before you walk down the aisle
It’s all about making your morning feel effortless, relaxed, and unforgettable.
what areas do you cover? and do you travel out of scotland for weddings?
I cover weddings all across Scotland and beyond! I’m based in Inverness, so most of my work is local to the Highlands and the beautiful Isle of Skye, but I’m always up for an adventure.
Whether it’s a mountaintop elopement in Glencoe, a castle wedding near Aberdeen, or a city celebration in Glasgow, I’m there I’ve even had weeks where I’ve been in Glasgow one day and Thurso the next, no distance is too far when it comes to creating dream wedding looks.
what is your typical process when working with a bride, from the initial enquiry to the wedding day?
All of my brides and grooms receive my number and are always welcome to WhatsApp me, whether it’s to share inspiration, ask questions, or just have a wee chat! I love building a genuine connection with my couples; it’s such an important part of creating a calm, personal experience on the day.
I keep detailed notes of everything we discuss and often practice styles in between, always looking for ways to perfect each look
The night before your wedding, I take time to review photos, videos, and notes, so everything is fresh in my mind.
Before we begin on the big day, I’ll always check in with you to make sure there haven’t been any last-minute changes, ensuring we’re completely aligned and ready to create something beautiful

what advice do you have for brides who are in the process of choosing their artist?
I love hearing all about my couples’ wedding plans. Every detail helps me bring their vision to life I always ask to see a picture of the dress, as hair and makeup should beautifully complement the style and feel of the day.
A whimsical gown pairs perfectly with soft updos or boho waves, while a more structured dress might suit something sleek or classic, depending on the overall vibe.
A whimsical gown pairs perfectly with soft updos or boho waves, while a more structured dress might suit something sleek or classic, depending on the overall vibe. For example, glamour waves might not fit a relaxed barn wedding, but a textured updo can look stunning with a traditional dress in a grand hotel setting.
When it comes to makeup, I tend to lean towards neutral tones with a soft glam finish Timeless, elegant, and camera-ready. And while I adore a natural look, I’ll always encourage a red lip for that bold, confident touch.

what are your favourite wedding venues in scotland and why?
I have such a soft spot for Bunchrew House Hotel. It’s where I got married, so every time I walk into the bridal suite, I’m instantly filled with the happiest memories The staff are always so welcoming, and the space (not to mention the gorgeous lighting) is absolutely perfect for a relaxed, beautiful wedding morning
what are your top 3 products in your kit?
Only picking 3 is difficult but i definitely couldn’t live without maroccon oil textured hair spray Texured powder and redken way spray.
how can brides get in touch with you?
Brides and grooms can contact me in various ways. My instagram and Facebook pages have links to contact me via whatsapp and email.
I also reapond to DMs However i prefer enquiries to be made via my contact form on my website. This helps me keep track of dates available and active enquiries.
My website also has a lot more information. It provides pricing, FAQs and more about my business. www.bridalhairbynatasha.co.uk

Guest expert Lauren C Moore

From breathtaking fire displays and mesmerising Circus work to tailored dance lessons for soon-tobe newlyweds, Lauren brings a unique blend of artistry and energy to the Scottish events scene. Whether she’s helping couples perfect a first dance or hosting unforgettable hen and stag parties with a circus twist, her work is all about creating moments that feel magical, memorable, and entirely personal. We sat down with Lauren to talk about her creative journey
How did you first get into fire dancing, and what inspired you to turn it into a career?
I got into fire dancing after years of performing I was looking for something that felt new, bold, and magical.
The moment I tried it, I was hooked! It’s the perfect mix of artistry, thrill, and sparkle.

What’s the story behind your performance style, how would you describe your shows?
My performance style has evolved from over three decades of dance. I’ve always been drawn to things that shimmer and shine, and now I channel that love of sparkle into every performance It’s a blend of elegance, excitement, and enchantment, truly sparkling and magical.
What do you love most about performing at weddings and special events?
I feel truly honoured to be part of someone’s special day and to share in their celebration. I also love creating those magical, breathtaking moments for their guests that add an extra touch of sparkle.
Are there any memorable wedding performances that really stand out to you?
I cant pick just one as had so many incredible couples and weddings i've been so fortunate to perform at
For brides who’ve never seen fire dancing at a wedding what can they expect?
Fire dancing brings a breathtaking wow factor to your wedding, it’s mesmerizing, exciting, and creates a moment your guests will never forget.
What kinds of fire performances work best for weddings?
Evening entertainment works best to really showcase the Fire at night, maybe just before the Fireworks.
How do you make sure fire shows are safe at venues?
We take safety very seriously and are fully insured, with detailed risk assessments in place for every performance We also work closely with each venue to ensure all safety measures are followed. Most fire performances take place outdoors, especially those involving fire breathing or larger equipment For added safety, I always maintain a minimum distance of three metres between myself and the audience.
Do you tailor your performances to the couple’s theme, song, or love story?
Definitely! I take the time to speak with each couple beforehand so I can understand their love story, theme, and song choices. I then weave those details into the performance, creating something meaningful, personal, and unforgettable

What’s the best time in the wedding day to include a fire performance?
Evening is the ideal time for a fire performance, especially once dusk falls As your evening guests arrive and the sky darkens, the flames create a dramatic and unforgettable moment.
You also teach first dances, how do you help couples who feel shy or nervous about dancing?
I walk couples through it all, from their entrance to where they’ll stand and how to start before the music begins I love sharing small tips to help them feel confident, like checking their shoes aren’t too slippery, breaking them in early, and finding easy ways to move even with a big dress.
It’s all about making the couple feel relaxed, confident, and enjoy every moment of their first dance.
What are some popular first dance styles or songs you’ve seen recently?
Traditionally, couples have chosen slow ballads and romantic waltzes for their first dance, which are always beautiful classics.
For couples who want their celebration to sparkle literally.
However, I’ve noticed a growing trend toward more energetic and dynamic routines. Many couples are now opting for fun, highimpact choreography that includes lifts or transitions, for example, starting with a slow ,sentimental song and then surprising guests with a lively, upbeat mix. These “megamix” styles add excitement and really let the couple’s personality shine on the dance floor

Do you offer themed hen or stag party dance sessions?
Yes, absolutely! I’ve been teaching themed hen and stag party dance sessions for over 15 years now, and I still love them, every group is so unique I can create completely bespoke themes to suit the group, or couples can choose from some of my most popular options. Some all-time favourites include Line Dancing, Spice Girls, ABBA, and of course, DirtyDancing, always a hit!
I’ve even been lucky enough to travel across the UK and over to Ireland to teach parties, and I’ve even had requests to travel abroad, which is such an honour! One of my most unexpected (and memorable!) groups was the incredible 4 the Love of DogUK team, and the gorgeous Trinny! I had the chance to work with them on some dance moves and a bit of training that included my circus fans, which made the whole experience extra fun and truly unique.
The Scottish Wedding Hair & Makeup Directory steps into a world of spark, spectacle, and showmanship as we catch up with the captivating Lauren C Moore — Scotland’s own fire and circus performer
What’s been the most fun or unexpected group you’ve worked with?
All of my groups are amazing and so memorable, each one brings something special to the dance floor.
What advice would you give to couples looking to make their wedding entertainment really unforgettable?
Don’t just go with the norm, break the mould and make it yours!
Choose something that truly brings you both joy, whether that’s live bagpipes and drums, glamorous showgirls, or even fire performers. The key is to find entertainment that matches your vibe or theme and go all in. I always say: let your personalities shine through!
How can brides incorporate more creativity or performance into their big day?
I love scrolling through wedding TikTok and Pinterest boards for fresh inspiration, new trends, and creative ideas, there’s so much out there to help spark something unique for your big day
But most importantly really make the day about you both! Let your personalities shine, and don’t worry if it’s not traditional, it’s your day Think outside the box and trust your instincts when it comes to creativity and performers.
It’s easy to get swayed by other people’s opinions, but at the end of the day, what matters most is what feels right for you as a couple. So go for it, embrace your ideas, and reach for the stars!
What are your top tips for feeling confident and having fun on the dancefloor?
Choose a banging playlist and hire a fab band or DJ who knows how to get the party started, and keep it going! Make sure your favourite songs are in the mix so you feel relaxed, confident, and totally in the moment. The more you love the music, the more natural it’ll feel to let go and have fun on the dance floor
And remember, no one’s judging your moves, they’re just enjoying the vibe!

If a bride wanted something unique but low-key, how might you adapt your services for that?
I offer a variety of different acts, equipment, and themes, so I love working closely with each bride to find what suits her vision best Whether she’s after something subtle and low-key or wants the full show-stopping experience, I can tailor everything to fit perfectly.
From simple, elegant touches to the full shebang, I’ve got you covered!
What’s your favourite part of being involved in weddings?
My favourite part of being involved in weddings is the absolute joy and love that fills the day. it’s truly electric! I feel so lucky to be able to perform and be part of such a special, unforgettable moment for couples.
How do you unwind after a big performance?
After a big performance, I love to unwind by listening to music, it really helps me relax and get into the right headspace. While I’m setting up or packing away my equipment, having music on helps me transition from the performance and recharge.
What’s next for you? any exciting projects or trends you’re seeing in wedding entertainment?
I’m thrilled to be a finalist for a few upcoming awards, which have been voted for by my wedding couples, such an incredible honour and something that truly means the world tome
Outside of wedding season, my busiest times are Christmas and New Year performances, and I’m also excited to be back at The Scottish Wedding Show at the SECC this February.

In terms of trends, couples are looking for something a bit different and unique Showgirls are especially popular right now, boosted by Taylor Swift’s Life of a Showgirl album, and I’m seeing high demand for my Showgirls, including extra spectacular elements like fire Showgirls too!
For first dances, the trend is moving toward faster, more upbeat songs. Many couples are choosing a “megamix” approach, starting with a slow, traditional song and then transitioning into a lively, energetic track.
It’s a fantastic way to get the party started and make the dance floor really come alive
Dream wedding song to dance to?
The Only Exception - Paramore
Fire or glitter?
Fire but do love a bit of Glitter too.
Beach wedding or castle wedding?
Castle Wedding
Most unusual place you’ve ever performed?
On a private Island in the middle of Loch Lomond for a private party.
One word to describe your performance style?
Mesmerizing
