Real Bride Inez and Groom Francis married at Edinburgh City Chambers and stayed at the Edinburgh Grand Hair & Makeup by Hannah Bailey and Photographer Effie Ioannou.

Inez & Francis

Inez, originally from Sweden and Francis, born in Glasgow, met whilst working together on a luxury yacht…Inez as a stewardess and Francis as an engineer.

Inez wanted a makeup look to cover acne scars/redness and to work with warmer tones. She wanted a "minimalistic look" but full coverage at the same time. More of a classic Scandinavian look with emphasis on being bronzed and glowy.

We started by cleansing, toning and applying my ‘holy grail’ moisturiser Embryolisse Leaving that to sink in we worked on eyes, first priming with the Hourglass eye primer and using the 2 lightest shades from the Vieve Soul shadows eye palette in ‘Lure’ we sculpted the eye

I used a thin liner using Laura Mercier Caviar eyeliner in cocoa to emphasise and then some Bobbi Brown eyeshadow in Moonstone for a bit of sparkle

Inez had a lash lift beforehand as she did not want any false lashes and L’Oréal Lash Paradise waterproof mascara completed the eye look

For my brides skin I used the Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Skin foundation stick, with Charlotte Tilbury cream bronzer to bronze and contour.

We used a Patrick Ta blush duo to add a flush of colour to the cheeks Setting the skin with Huda Beauty Easy Bake powder in Poundcake to ensure longevity and then adding the glow back with Dior backstage highlighting palette.

We used the brides own lipstick from Ilia makeup to complete the look.

Inez loves the sleek look for her hair, combined with a high curly bun it complemented her look perfectly.

I loved her look and more importantly so did she! A truly beautiful couple inside and out and it was an absolute pleasure to be a part of their story!

Where are you based and what locations do you cover?

I’m Morgan, the face behind Bridal Hair by Morgan, I’ve been helping brides feel beautiful and confident on their wedding day for over 14 years. With 22 years of hairdressing experience, I specialise in creating timeless, elegant bridal hairstyles that are classic, clean, and beautifully polished.

One of my favourite products to work with is Schwarzkopf Osis Soft Dust Powder. It instantly creates beautiful volume and lift at the roots while keeping the hair soft, touchable, and natural-looking perfect for long-lasting bridal styling.

Why did you choose your wedding venue, and what made it feel like the perfect place for your day?

We didn't have to pick a venue. A venue presented itself when we chose a new life, a different life. We relocated from England and bought a new home in Foyers opposite a 100ft waterfall and a beautiful ancient pine forest filled with red squirrel.

Our first walk through those woods fuelled a dream we shared of a woodland wedding The forest was perfect, within metres of our home and a place where I will be able to go and reflect when I need to feel close in the years to come. Richard won't be with me much longer, he has terminal cancer Our day so close to home was ideal and those memories will last forever.

Tell us about your bridal hair and makeup vision, what inspired the overall look you chose?

I don't feel I had a direct vision as such for my makeup. I just knew for sure that I wanted to avoid heavy contour lines and instead preferred a "polished" version of myself.

I trusted in my hair & makeup stylist (Natasha) who created a soft, natural and timeless look for me.

The vision for my hair was easy, Natasha had a portfolio full of bridal hairstyles to choose from

My dress had an open back and so an updo was a given to show off my neckline through to my back.

Did you always know the style you wanted for your wedding beauty look, or did it evolve during the planning process?

My beauty look really didn't take much planning (for me anyway), and definitely evolved on the day I discussed with Natasha what I wanted to avoid and what I thought I liked and then I really did trust in her expertise.

Natasha showed me every shade of eye shadow and lip colour to see if I liked them before she applied them and kept checking with me along the way to see if I was happy with the direction. I knew what I didn't want and from that, Natasha created a look that I absolutely loved.

How did you want to feel when you looked in the mirror on the morning of your wedding?

Just like every bride wants to feel when they look in the mirror on their wedding day, simply beautiful.

Were there any particular trends, eras, celebrities, Pinterest boards, or personal influences that inspired your hair and makeup choices?

I just so happened to love the eye makeup that Natasha was wearing on the day which inspired my eye shadow, Natasha used a palette that complimented my skin, hair and dress.

My personal opinion and advice is to avoid Pinterest, celebrities, influencers etc for inspiration as they are heavily edited or even AI generated and pretty much impossible to replicate in real life which will leave you so disheartened

What was your favourite moment or memory from the day itself?

Getting ready was so much fun, my hair & makeup stylist along with my photographer really added to my bridal party and made me feel beautiful, which led to my favourite memory of making my way down to the woods with my Maid of Honour and Bridesmaid with such confidence in how I looked.

I'm usually a shy & reserved person, not that day! I felt so good about myself that I didn't mind getting married in a public place with strangers taking photos as I passed.

Looking back at your wedding photos now, is there a beauty detail or part of your bridal look that you especially loved?

I loved the entire look but if I had to chose one thing, I absolutely loved my hair

What advice would you give to other couples currently planning their wedding, especially when it comes to getting ready and choosing their suppliers?

I'd say don't overthink it, the planning process is a beautiful part of the journey but it can over complicate the whole thing and you can become overwhelmed in Pinterest boards, people's opinions etc

I'd also recommend making use of individual business owners within the wedding industry, where the service that they deliver is individually linked to their reputation

I trusted 100% in the professionals around us and they are the best at what they do. We had a very short notice, small intimate wedding and I can't speak more highly of the suppliers that I trusted, particularly Natasha my hair & makeup, Lauren our photographer (Magic Moments Studio) and Chef Anthony who cooked for us.

Offering tea, coffee, water or snacks is always appreciated and helps keep the atmosphere positive throughout the morning

My fave is Estée Lauder double wear, especially the new formula it’s been an OG in my kit for years and never lets me down. Great for weddings as it’s super well lasting and I know it will still be perfect come 3am on the dance floor

2nd fave is Charlotte tilbury beautiful skin foundation, I use this for a more natural/dewy finish, it has a lovely finish & buildable coverage
