Long service, lasting impact: our hospital legends
We shine a light all our Long Service Award recipients. Read more inside...
This week, I want to say something very simple and very personal: thank you.
National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day give us a national platform, but for me, this is about Barnsley. It is about the colleagues we see every day who keep Barnsley Hospital, our community sites and our growing town-centre health services safe, clean, welcoming and running.
It is about the people who do their best work before anyone notices, early in the morning, late at night, between handovers, behind the scenes and in the moments when pressure is high.
When estates and facilities work goes well, it can look effortless. A ward is ready. A bed space is clean. A corridor feels safe. A piece of equipment works. Linen is there when it is needed. A meal is served. A patient is moved with care. A family member is reassured. A member of clinical staff knows who to call, and the right help arrives.
Thank you for your incredible work.

Managing Director of Barnsley Facilities Service

they face every day. Thank you to Dawn Pickering and team for letting Mat into their world. We won’t let him back for a while!
Thank you for the pride you take in your work. Thank you for the daily cleans that make spaces feel safe and dignified. Thank you for the conversations that reassure people. Thank you for keeping buildings, services and equipment running.
Thank you for making sure the right resources are in
the right place at the right time. Thank you for helping Barnsley Hospital and our wider community feel cared for.

Amy is an amazing Lead Nurse always striving for exceptional patient care and going above and beyond for her team.
