Celebrating 2025 and looking forward to 2026!
Hello from Barnsley Hospital Charity As we step into 2026, we’re excited to share some of the inspiring plans already taking shape for the year ahead. From new projects to familiar favourites, there’s so much to look forward to. Before we dive in, it wouldn’t feel right not to pause and reflect on 2025 and the incredible efforts of our supporters.
From fundraising challenges to community events, your energy, generosity and commitment made a real difference. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in any way. We truly couldn’t do this without you. We hope the stories in this newsletter inspire you to get involved, try something new, and continue being part of our journey in the year ahead. LOOKING BACK
2025: What a Year! What a remarkable year 2025 was for Barnsley Hospital Charity. It was a year full of ambition, generosity and unforgettable moments, all driven by the incredible support of our supporters.
In June, we proudly launched our Breast Care Appeal, aiming to raise £250,000 in just 12 months. Thanks to your amazing efforts, we closed December at an incredible £193,000, putting us firmly on track to reach and hopefully exceed our target.

2025: What a Year!
Our supporters laced up their trainers in force, with 79 runners taking part in the Barnsley 10k, raising £15,849!

2025: What a Year! We also made waves with our first-ever Dragon Boat Race, where everyone of the 11 teams raised funds for the charity a total of £11,848. The day was filled with energy, teamwork and fun, with the Trust HQ team proudly claiming the 2025 title.
We also helped 26 brave supporters to take a once-in-alifetime leap from 15,000 feet!

2025: What a Year! 2025 also saw the launch of brand-new events. Our first Strictly Glitterball lit up Barnsley Civic with a sell-out audience and raised over £15,000, while our Care to Compete staff fundraising competition got off to a fantastic start, with Intensive Care Unit and Gateway Plaza teams crowned amongst our first winners To top it all off, we were incredibly proud to be named Proud of Barnsley Charity of the Year, alongside celebrating many of our supporters who received welldeserved recognition of their own.
Thank you to everyone who made 2025 such an outstanding year – your passion and support continue to make a real difference.

We’re looking for ideas for future appeals that will make a real difference for our patients and inspire our supporters to get involved. Spotlight on our Supporters Mystery prize for top fundraisers Throughout 2025, the fantastic teams at Gateway Plaza took part in a range of fundraisers for our charity, including tombolas, book sales and a festive fundraiser. Together they raised over £1,560 and were rewarded in our Care to Compete competition by opening the mystery box – winning pizzas for the whole team!

Title Barnsley Hospital's topnotch estates team is celebrating after being shortlisted for the prestigious IHEEM Project of the Year Award for their incredible work on the hospital’s revamped Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU)! The project saw the ITU go from a cramped, seven-bed unit to a cuttingedge, spacious facility with 16 beds and eight extra escalation bays, perfect for future pandemics. The team pulled off the massive transformation, which was a logistical nightmare, by squeezing a whole building site through a tiny 2x2m door! Now patients and staff enjoy better spaces, lighting, and privacy. Well done, Barnsley Hospital’s estates legends – fingers crossed for the big win!
