Closing the night was a time machine skit by our hosts, Brian and Darian. Thank you to the Exec for putting this night on!

inter-collegE SOCCER

Our intercollege sports competition continued on Sunday with soccer games. Everyone played great, with the girls beating DLC by 1 and the Village girls being a no show. Unfortunately, the boys lost their games. The next intercollege sport will be in next semester!

the B-Block whiteboard

Each week the fabulous B-Block captains write a new topic on the whiteboard at the entrance to the block. These are just a few of the funny answers people have responded to some of the recent topics! Make sure if you’re ever walking through B-Block to check it out and maybe write something on there yourself!

Movie Night

“What’s wrong McFly? You chicken?” There are so many classic quotes from the back to the future series... “B”ack to the future block got together to encounter this cinematic phenomenon, some for the first time, others to relive childhood memories. We really enjoyed having our minds slightly boggled by the second movie and the complexities of time travel. Most importantly though, we had really good supper spreads so no one went hungry...

- Lachlan (B-Block RA)

It was a hard night, cold and dark. The wind slapped our cheeks and wormed away at our confidence. The food was late. With low morale our numbers fell.

The first wave of pizzas was met with hungry hands and happy hearts. Conversation grew warm, even a little heated, as temperature fell. All in all, would rate 8/8 full family fun go D Block.

- Matt (D-Block Captain)

Human #11 Tamsin Nagaiya

What is your favourite memory of RMC so far?

My O-week when I was a fresher, getting to experience freedom from my family and making crazy new friends while doing crazy new things was something I’ll never forget. Scav hunt was hilarious, because one minute I was drunk swimming through a filthy pond in the botanical gardens, the next I have to sober up because my parents wanted to meet me halfway through scav to say their final goodbyes.

the exec is working with really cool people to pull off fun and exciting events for everyone. Especially in organising O-week, which was one of the most hectic, stressful, fun and rewarding things I’ve ever done. All the work is worth it when you see everyone enjoying themselves.

What do you study? And what is your favourite part of your degree?

I am studying a Bachelor of Applied Finance with a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies. My favourite part of my degree is getting to study something that I truly enjoy and have wanted to do for many years. I feel very privileged to be able to study what I’ve always wanted to.

What has been your favourite things about being on the Exec?

My favourite thing about being on

What’s an interesting fact about you?

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t actually shag sheep.

What’s a funny fact about Tom?

A funny fact about Tom is that when he’s really happy he snorts like a piggy.

What’s an embarrassing story about Tom?

The most embarrassing thing that has happened to Tom that I have witnessed was when he came to meet my family in New Zealand over summer. My family really liked him, but I have a crazy family friend that has no boundaries. When she met him she proceeded to ask him a list of detailed questions about certain body parts and certain intimate acts… in front of my whole family and some friends (including my grandparents)! It was extremely awkward, embarrassing and my dad was not impressed.

Don’t forget! If you want to be a Human of RMC all you have to do is contact one of the editors and we’ll happily send you the questions and feature you in our next issue!

Human #12 THOMAS BUNTING

What is your favourite memory of RMC so far?

O-week and teaching the fresher dance. Some would say that O-Week is a traumatic experience for Exec members who are lucky enough to MAYBE get 5 hours of sleep each night, but in all honesty, it was one of the funnest (it should be a word) weeks of my life. What made the hard work worth it was winning the fresher dance and seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces as well as the cheers of victory.

that you already gossiped about with that Exec member. You know who you are. In seriousness though it has been becoming better friends with all of the Exec members and enjoying the fruits of all our hard work and planning throughout the year. I look forward to the rest of the journey with this collective of 9 (including moi) amazing people!

What do you study? And what is your favourite part of your degree?

What has been your favourite things about being on the Exec?

Exec meetings and exchanging a cheeky glance with another Exec member when a controversial topic is being discussed

I am currently studying concurrent degrees – B Psychology (Honours) & B Applied Finance. Favourite part of my degree by far is…definitely not the Psychology. It is interesting for sure, but not what I expected. So if anything, Finance is the beez kneez, the duck’s nuts, the tick’s prick, the cat’s pyjamas and it goes without saying, the favourite part of my degree. I think the only thing that lets it down is some of the people with gargantuan egos doing the degree.

What’s an interesting fact about you?

For or better or worse, I enjoy the food at RMC. Oh and I have also recently made the executive decision that I am going to retire in New Zealand. That country is legit fire.

What’s a funny fact about Tami?

If you ever get the chance to intensely tickle Tami you will be greeted by an evil witch cackle. It is by far the lamest/ funniest “laugh” I have ever witnessed.

What’s an embarrassing story about Tami?

One cool winter evening Tami thought it was a wise idea to drink about $150 WORTH OF CHAMPAGNE. Later that night when I left her hunched over the toilet to fetch a bucket elsewhere, I came back to a familiar scene I once saw in a movie. For those who have had the common sense of watching the Wolf of Wall Street, I came back to the drunk brown female version of Leonardo DiCaprio crawling to his white Lamborghini whilst high on super Ludes. The only difference in this case was that she was muttering “I’m nearly there” even though her intended location (the bed) was on the other side of the room.

me vanquish my opponent. Once I won the battle and claimed my title of Alpha Male, Tami couldn’t stop herself from falling madly in love with me. Likewise, after wiping the blood of my fallen enemy off my face I too fell in love with her at first sight and the rest is history. Nah but real talk we met each other at lunch one day when she sat next to me. As she was wearing a crop top, Cameron Nieger complimented her on her really nice belly button. After my own personal assessment of her anatomy, I nodded in agreement and spoke my very first words to Tami, “Yeah it is a nice belly button!”

How did you and Tami meet?

One day when I was playing Ping Pong shirtless in the commo, Tami serendipitously stumbled into the room and enjoyed the privilege of witnessing

Procrastination An Article from Meredith the RMC Councellor

One of the most common topics of conversation I have with students concerns struggles with procrastination. “Why do I always leave things til the last minute?””I feel I could do better but I seem to sabotage myself by wasting the time I do have until it’s too late”…. Sound familiar??

One view is that it is all about avoidance- not just of the task but of the thoughts and feelings (or experiences) that accompany these demands. We are really tough on ourselves and our thinking can trap us in a vicious cycle.

Humans are designed to avoid facing painful or scary thoughts, emotions, memories etc, even when they are not even aware of them, so in a sense putting off a dreaded assignment is normal!

And a little build up of pressure (like in a rubber band if you’re shooting peas) can be an effective strategy for some.

But the problem is, procrastination can mean you miss out on really important things (not just grades, but also living a rich and meaningful life), and end up feel guilty to top it off.

Part of my job is to help you gain clarity around what thoughts might be pushing you around and what you might be avoiding, changing your perspective on them so they have less impact on your behaviour, and to connect with and do what matters to you.
